    I have this exact knife that i did but in the mid 80s. I changed the blade out with a better steel. I also put in copper pins to replace the brass ones holding the wood pieces and put in oak burl scales. It was finally a good knife to use. The original blade didn't hold an edge and had a really badly ground blade.

    Not a bad job. You may want to make a new brass pivot pin for it at some point. You need a hard flat surface to hammer it in.
    I hate having to repair pinned knives. I always mess them up and can’t get them right. It’s mainly because I don’t have the proper workspace for it, but that will be changing once I move. I prefer working on modern knives that are screwed together.

    Nice! Love keeping old things alive. Most people would have just tossed it, but it still has a lot of use

    It's not a "bar." It's a pin. The reason your blade sticks out, is that the pin is not large enough. Find a nail that fits the pivot or one that is larger, and turn it down by filing ii in a drill. There are actually people who repair knives
