In this video I will show you step by step how I had this zero clearnace insert plate for the Dewalt table saw DWE7485. This is an easy upgrade that will result in cleaner cuts, especially when cutting plywood perpendicular to the wood grain. It will also improve the safety, by not allowing thin cut strips to fall back into the blade throat.

Why not leaving as a solid piece and raise the blade up to cu through the top? Would save you having to make those weird wedge pieces and would be a true zero clearance.

The wedges are necassary to stop it falling out when you move it around

Saw the full video before I saw this. It’s great and I’m going to make me one for my table saw!! But I don’t think it’s going to say “Like and Subscribe” on it. Lol 😝

Very good, but what is the advantage of having this zero clearance if not to condemn any possibility of cutting at 45 degrees?

It prevents smaller cuts falling into the blade area. Usually you would use these for 90 degree cuts only. But if you need to cut 45 degree cuts often then you need to make a 45 degreee insert plate.

I don't know how much you are worth per hour but I would have just bought a new replacement piece if one was necessary.

I recently got into diy(wood working), and I don't have enough tools to execute this. Is there any way you can make one for me? I have the same model

I’m sorry I barley have the time to do my own stuff! You can buy them online though!

I put n42 magnets into the zero clearance plate so it holds itself to the support underneath the throat plate. It holds itself perfectly flat (as long as you have the perfect thickness of inser plate, and can match it to the wonky , unflattering surface of these overpriced saws.
(FYI, I originally used n52 magnets, and they were just too strong. It was a nightmare trying to get the plate off.

That’s such a good idea! I might have to tweak mine!

Okay so a job site saw that the first time it gets wet it’s probably ruined and you can no longer cut on any other angles. Got it.

You can swap this out very quickly with the one DeWalt includes. I don't always have this in, only when I'm cutting particulary small pieces.

The only problem is now you can not turn your saw to cut anything at a 45° angle. But ! That works great if you don't plan to cut anything at an angle. Nice job
