- In this video I’m going to show you how to setup a DeWalt table saw along with recommended upgrades. This is model DWE7491RS, however it will cover others as well.

I'm noticing some differences with my one (UK), the blocker of which is that the mitre gauge slot is obstructed by a screw. It looks like it can be moved but I have to find a tiny screwdriver to undo it first 🕵️

Your tutorial was pure gold. I have this saw and my cuts have been off and it’s due to not properly calibrating. You spent a great deal of time on the production quality and clarity and it’s very much appreciated. A new subscriber.

I can now start thinking of buying one as I feel confident of making any adjustments that will be needed for accurate cutting. Thank you for explaining in very simple terms.

Nice, easy vid to follow that's more in-depth than most ... the only suggestion I have to make it the one stop shop is how to adjust and correctly set the 90/45 mitre angle guide and stop cam and, like pretty much every other set-up video I've watched on this saw, you didn't mention the anti kick back attachment that comes with it (stored underneath behind front cover on right) ... but apart from that I have this vid saved and it's the one I followed in setting mine up 👍

Great video. I would like to add that the saw I purchased need slightly more work to get the blade parallel to the miter slots. There are four bolts on the underside of the table that allow for the blade to move laterally. I also found that the angle adjustment lever must be unlocked to allow the front of the blade to be adjusted.

Awesome video and very helpful. I do have one question if the fence is not 90 degrees to the top of the table is there an adjustment to fine tune that or not
Hi Dustin, thank you for watching. With the issue you mention that is one design flaw with this table saw. If it’s with intolerance I personally would not recommend to mess with it. There are methods people have tried such as with spacers, but I would only go that route if absolutely necessary.

I'd love to know about your dust collection upgrade for the Dewalt miter saw in the background. I have the same model and bought an aftermarket port on Etsy that only offers a slight improvement.
Hi William, thanks for watching and welcome to the channel. To be honest many have tried to solve for poor dust collection and there isn’t a perfect solution. Here I used a tool drawer liner and have it cut like a scoop to cover a larger area and fastened it using the stock screws (a strong magnet may work too). I then used an adapter to fasten a 2.5” dust collection tube to.
Great video, very helpful. With a digital gauge I've noticed some inconsistency that seems to be slop with my fence. I belive it may be causing snipe at the end of some cuts. I square the fence with a gauge on the miter slot within .0001, and a few cuts later it seems out again. Minor amounts but enough to bug me. I like how you explain checking for a the squareness of the fence to the table, but don't mention adjustment (because there isn't any simple way to adjust it that im aware of), which I think it would benefit from). Thank you for making this.

Can you clarify at 10:13 about placing a straight edge on the table touching the 2 blade tips? The riving knife should not touch the straight edge?
If I place a straight edge parallel to the blade and knife, it should touch the blade but not the knife?
Good question and thank you for watching. The tips of the blade are slightly wider than the riving knife so take a straight edge and have it flush against a tooth towards the front of the blade and the other end flush against a tooth on the back of the blade. Doing so you want to ensure equal spacing and that the riving knife does not touch. 👍

I’ve had my Dewalt saw for a few months now. I went through a setup process initially, but this video clarified a few points that I didn’t quite grasp the first time around. Others may have eluded to the fence not being 90° to the table. I have that issue. When placing a square on the table and then upright against the fence I get contact between the square and the fence at the top of the fence but not at the bottom. I tried a different square and it was very close to 90°. Who’s to say if my squares are actually square? At any rate, I don’t feel that this will affect my work accuracy enough to matter, but it would be nice to know if there’s an adjustment for that. I have not found one.
