Finally found a real solution. Apparently the coil I was using was drawing out much more juice than I needed. Going to a smaller coil, with an appropriate ohm resistance and with smaller intake wholes stopped the leak. And it doesn't get as warm as it did. No change to vaping experience except for dry hands!

@@zachwebb5862 I switched to PnP-TM2 0.8 ohm, and vape at 15W. My vape is always dry and never leaks with this combination.
Previously, I was using PnP-VM4 0.6 ohm and was vaping at 15W. This combination leaked all the time.

You are very correct on the heat! When the coil gets hot and you feel warmth on the tank, it will no doubt leak from both end, especially when the liquid goes below 1/3 of the tank because of the air pressure inside it. So separate tank when not in use and lay it on the side is the best way to avoid.

    • @ogijs87
      @ogijs87 2 ปีที่แล้ว

I found very useful before you put it aside after some hits, open and close filler plug. I guess it takes out some pressure.

    • @DemonetisedZone

      Its a terrible design
The heat hardens one side of the rubber ring and that is where leaks come from

    • @BillAnt

Basically the hot air inside the tank expands pushing out the liquid on all sides like a bad diarrhea. lol

I Love the size and weight of this Drag, i am first time user. After 3 weeks this thing started leaking so badly everywhere, even in my pocket and was such a mess and i was really upset. i have been to many forums to see if there was a fix, tried many things that did not work but in the end i found one that has been working perfectly. I used a strip of about 4mm thick from the tape people use to connect pvc pipes and made 3 turns around the o-ring from the coil and push it back in, you will notice that it fits much tighter. You can go to any hardware stores and ask for pvc seal tape. this has worked perfectly, not a trace of liquid since.

You are right saying to fill at 80%. But the leacking comes from the bad not hermetic connection between the rubber pin insulator, the middle positive's pin, and the coil terminal wires. The rubber is squeezed by the threads, and the central pin does not hold everything tight and airtight. In fact, if you notice, there is often liquid on the bottom positive's pin and not on the edge of the POD. The bad is that liquid enters the mod from its floating pins which are right under the POD coil. They should restyle these coils, but probably they didn t test them a long or they don t know how to solve that

I don't believe increased pressure is a correct theory. The VooPoo PNP tanks are not pressurized, so heat cannot build up extreme amounts of pressure. The issue, I believe, is that the sealing o-rings for the positive and negative leads that exit the bottom side of the coil are not sealing against the leads and you're getting leakage around those leads.

  • @kevenlastname3324

In my opinion, and findings. The issue with the TPP coils is that the seal/insulator for the center electrode is a stiff plastic. As opposed to the PNP which is rubber. I haven't had any issues with the PNP tanks. The only "fix" that has proven to work is to put a small amount of silicone sealant around the center electrode in then pop the connector back in and let it setup before using it. I do this to all coils at once as soon as I pick up a new supply. This way they are ready to go when needed. Haven't had an issues since I began doing this a few months ago. I hope this helps some people experiencing the same issues.

I have a Voopoo Argus Pro. I read the manual as a habit before I use any device or appliance. Part of the instruction says never fully fill it up as it will leak. Filling it up to two thirds was recommended.
Even my Geekvape and Oxva devices recommend never to fill them up fully.
And yes, I take off the pods after use. If it has a removable battery I also remove them when not in use, and I also charge them externally.
I have no problems with my vape devices no matter the brand or size and make by following these simple tips.

In addition to the filling advice, I've found that on the DRAG device, using an 80W coil makes the device too hot, thereby enabling the oil to leak easily. However, using a 40W coil solves the problem for oil leak as it does not generate as much heat, and also produces better quality smoke.

I believe it's the rubber bit (unsure what the heck the proper name is) where you fill with liquid. Of course overheating will exacerbate the issue but looking with a magnifying glass there is a teeny tiny space where liquid can certainly leak out. Any idea if the one piece tank has a better "stopper?

I found the solution the other day with the drag. Remove coil oring and replace with Viton green thick oring and not one leak for one week. It's the coil oring that expands and contracts and leaves gaps. Viton orings are rated up to 800 degree depending on viton rating. This is the ultimate fix. Try it!

Interesting, I have the same issues with my SMOK RPM5 someone gave me and I really enjoy as a great alternative to smoking cigarettes
I'm guessing I lose about 25% of the vape juice I put in and I only fill to 20% max
I just thought the leaking was why I was given the RPM5 in the first place and figured I'd just take the opportunity to upgrade & get a Vaporesso Luxe II as I've already saved north of NZD1500 in just 2 months and I no longer have any craving for a cigarette
Having had a quick look round, I'm reading the occasional review mentioning leaking occurring on many if not all refillable vape devices, even the top end NZD200 ones like the Luxe II
I'm a professional electronics engineer and while this video is very well done and informative, I don't think we're really seeing the root cause being fixed
The leaking isn't that big a deal, vape juice is fairly cheap compared to cigarettes, it's just the mess & sticky fingers

I disagree. I never filled mine more than 50% and still I get leaking all over the place. It's actually coming out of the air duct. I am sure overfilling would make it even worse, but in my case I never overfilled, even once. Sometimes it doesn't leak, sometimes it does. So far I found no connection. Once, I had a badly leaking one, I twisted it a bit and stopped leaking. When I had to change it with a new one, it leaked, I did the same trick but it didn't work.

    • @PamelaContiGlass
      @PamelaContiGlass 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

For the record, when I get a leak, about every second time I change the whatchamecallit with the coil (sorry, brain fart) I take a cleaning wipe, let it dry then I roll it and use a rubber band to put it right below the air intake and above the button. It ain’t pretty, but at least my hand and everything else around me doesn’t drip of juice.
Why a cleaning wipe? Toilet paper and even paper towels fall apart. Wipes (dry the first by leaving them out for a bit) are more fibrous and take much longer to fall apart.

Whats the reason for juice leaking in mouth while using?

  • @J.Cameron.Stuart.Adams.
    @J.Cameron.Stuart.Adams. 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

I use 50/50 blend. I can't fill more than 40% to keep either of the coils from leaking in the Drag X and Drag X Pro. The issue is the coil wire end sticking out of the bottom. When the oil heats up the viscosity becomes thinner with the coil wire acting like a wick. This is down to there still being a tiny gap on either side of the wire.
The secondary cause of leaking is indeed overfilling. The coil can only hold back so much juice. When the tanks internal pressure exceeds the holding capacity of the cotton and the increased viscosity of warm juice (oil) the juice then flows freely through the cotton and out the air inlet on the bottom of the coil. Laying the coil on its side reduces the likely hood of the warm, thinner oil from passing through the cotton freely via gravity.
If you are one who is constantly vaping use two devices or tanks to keep the juice from heating up to the point where it wicks out of the bottom through the tiny gaps on either side of the coil wire or passing though the cotton and out via the air inlet.
Remove the tank when charging the battery in the mod as well. As you all know the mod gets pretty warm while the battery is charging. This of course heats the tank and juice, thus allowing the warm oil to wick out.
Voopoo can easily solve the leaking issue by clamping the coil wire to the contact plug internally. Simply relying on the pressure of contact plug against the wall of the coil to secure the wire and seal the coil is not working. Some coils are so bad it doesn't matter what you try, the juice leaks out all over the place. I'd say I toss out one in five TPP coils due to constant leaking.
Top tip..... To get the most out of these pricy coils use 50/50 blend. I recently ran out of 50/50 recently. While waiting for my shipment I checked several local shops for 50/50 to no avail. They all for the most part carry 70/30. With 70/30 my TPP coils were only lasted 5 and 6 days. With 50/50 set between 47 to 50 watts coils typically last me 4 to 5 weeks, depending on how much I am vaping. I did vape near constantly. Now I need to quit entirely. My gums have begin to recede dramatically in the last three months. The dentist is 90% sure vaping not only prevented early detection, but rapidly accelerated the significant recession. Literally in three months I went from no recession to needing surgery to graft new gums in place and hope they stick to save all of my bottom front teeth. Anyone who is thinking about quiting needs to do so now. If you're noticing dry mouth.... quite. If your gums are red and tender but not bleeding or otherwise indicating an issue.... Quit and see your dentist right away. I ignored the dry mouth for months. And ignored the swelling thinking it was irritation from using different floss picks. Then the swelling began to subside. At which point I notice the normal staining below the gum line was exposed and gaps between my teeth where gums should be. The dentist noted 1 and 2mm recession. That is a lot for a 47yo with excellent oral hygiene. By the time I finally panicked and ran to the dentist it was too late to reverse the recession. Expensive surgery is now the only option.
I realise this is not a video about vaping and oral health. However if my regrettable experience and the $8k I now must invest to hopefully get my beautiful smile back encourages others who vape to quit or see their dentist 3-4 times a year to catch gum disease early, then I will post similar comments on other vape content videos. In my last check up in late 2020 there was no sign of any recession or gum disease If I had acted as soon as the swelling and slight redness started we would have minimized gum loss. Oh and if I had known vaping was responsible for severe gum disease I would have quit sooner. Prior to my gums receding I had no idea vaping would cause any oral health issues. Back when I started vaping in 2014 it was said vaping is not harmful. Obviously e-cigarettes had only just blown up in the market at that time. As such there was little to no real studies to show the effects of vaping. I had quit smoking years prior but still craved the feel.....not the smell... yuck. Vaping with no nicotine seemed harmless. Okay.... Okay ..... Way off topic and the subtopic I created.
Genetics play a role in gum disease as well. Those with a predisposition to gum disease are likely to suffer early and severe gum disease as a result of vaping, just as many smokers do. There is a reason dentists instruction patient not to smoke after a procedure. Okay.....okay.....I'm done. My apologies for hijacking this video to share my scary and gross gum recession. Sadly I now feel a duty to warn others because the vaping industry is not.
    Cheers!.

Man!...... I just read your comment.... OH! MY! GOSH!.... I started with a new company about 4 months ago and have noticed those symptoms, ESPECIALLY the dry mouth, an I'm talking EXTREME dry mouth, also, my gums have felt different and I've also had swelling in them. I've been on a certian medication for a couple of years that one of the side effects is dry mouth, but I've been vaping alot longer. But since starting this position with the new company, I've been vaping WAY more, like 10 times more, than normal, like carrying 2 or 3 different mods with me to make sure I had a charged battery, since some take different batteries and also plenty of juice. Before, an even now, I would only vape in my vehicle and house, yes I still smoke, but have cut way back. Well, I'm about to have A TON of vape stuff for sale. I know your just ONE guy, hell, I don't even know you, but you just described EVERY issue I've noticed going on with MY mouth, but I was chalking it up to my medicine. So with that being said, I want to thank you sir. Time to talk to my Dr to find a different method to totally kick BOTH habits and also, make an appointment with my dentist 😭

Here's my solution to fix the leakage problem on Voopoo tanks.
Cut a couple of strips of paper towel (20mm x 5mm) fold or roll them up and stuff it around the bottom edges of the tank socket on the mod (make sure not to cover the contacts!). For better absorption, you can also use strips cut from makeup remover cotton pads. Once they get too soaked, I remove them with a tweezers and press firmly between two sheets of paper towel sheets to remove the liquid, then reuse them or cut new ones.
    .
There are just too many issues with Voopoo mods. I have several different generation chip sets and none of them maintain the voltage level evenly throughout the entire charge of the battery. When it's fully charged it's fine, but once the battery dips below 80%, so does the voltage displayed on the mod, and the vape becomes less dense and cooler (you can see the level while firing at different battery charge levels). All the Vaporesso Axon chip mods maintain the voltage level evenly throughout the entire charge of the battery. Also the lock feature on Voopoo mods locks everything, can't even fire or vape while charging (no pass-through), Vaporesso can fire while locked and vape while charging.

Mate, did you get any further with this? Because from my recent experience there is a whole lot to consider. First your coil, i've just found a super low ohm coil running from 25-35w (red oring smart coil) and it supports lower temps better (I don't know what you run at but i found so much spit and pop at 60+ i dial it right tf down) and the juice. I just got hold of sth branded Duo. very sweet and smooth, low nicotine (I think you can get without nicotine also) and it's very tasty. but it's got a good balance of viscosity, with current testing minimal seepage so far at low watts. I totally get this video is old now and probs you've either figured all this out but thought i'd chip in just in case this was helpful to anyone coming to voopoo drag new. it's a great rig, just got to have the right coil and heat for the right liquid. play around and experiment and don't get too frustrated while you work it out. little patience and analysis and i recon you'll get the right combination for your smoking style.

IGNORE ALL THE OTHER SUGGESTED LEAK FIXES. LEAKS ARE CAUSED BY USING THE WRONG TYPE COILS FOR THE E-LIQUID TYPE YOU ARE USING.
For the Voopoo. If you are using standard VM1 OR VM3 coils with the wrong VG rated liquid. It will leak VERY BADLY.
Voopoo are supplied with VM1 coils as standard.
If the liquid is too thin. It will leak through the cotton. VM1and VM3 coils are only suitable for high VG liquids. Most NIC salts are low VG liquids.
Only VM5 and VM6 coils are suitable for NIC salts or freebase 50/50 liquids.
    Alternative coils are as follows:-
TW series coils= High wattage vaping for NIC salts or 50/50 Freebase liquids. (TYPICALLY 40 WATT)
TM or TR series coils= low wattage vaping for NIC salts or 50/50 freebase liquids. (TYPICALLY 18 WATT)
THIS IS THE ONLY FIX FOR LEAKING ISSUES. IGNORE ANYTHING ELSE.
VM and TW series coils are for direct to lung Vaping.
TM/TR coils are for mouth to lung vaping.

Hi Sandra, when my drag x was behaving like that I let it sit alone for around a month and I think the liquid that was inside dried up because after that it was working, I hope this helps, good luck 👍

Tried everything including different tanks it always leaks, long story short it's a design fault.

Mine has leaked from day one, and it leaks from the seal on the coil. If you push it in hard to seal it, the electrode can't reach the coil, thus, no vapor. I think the entire assembly is trash.

Use a rba coil and discard the original bottom loop and use a nord regular coil loop
    Done ✅

Hi, yes, should fit like a glove, if you have doubts you can go to your local vape shop and ask them to let you try one

Mine only ever leaks when my Drag X hasn’t been left perfectly upright. Even if it left leaning like 15 degrees in my spot I have it resting in the car, it will leak a little over time. Not the end of the world, but I don’t dare sit down with it in my pocket.
