Rented an Expedition Max 2 summers ago for a cross country vacation with 4 adults & 2 kids. It was awesome, great room, great power & ride. MPG averaged around 19 MPG after 5000+miles.
The Sequioa went a step further with the previous generation, the rear glass went down like a window. Sad to see it gone for 2023. The rear glass still lifts though.
the door keypad is such a great feature that I wish other brands had. That said - the way it is implemented on this (stealth) is great 90% of the time - but the other 10% is an issue. I got caught out in a parking lot in a massive rain storm in a flex where water was almost going to reach the doors . . . and in pouring rain it would not read the button press. I was able to wipe my fingers on my belly (had a rain coat) and after a few times of trying this , it let me in.
We have a 2013 expedition EL limited and absolutely love it. I love the new ones too. But we got ours used and it’s paid for. The sticker on ours was 54k fully loaded. For that same model today it would be over 80k and I would lose the V8 we currently have.
@@matthewm3912 which turbo era are you talking? I drove a little 2008 TDI that had zero issues. Modern turbo engines are just as reliable. Yeah the V8 is a simpler engine but is not much of an advantage any more.
Grown man here and I find the Expedition a little too big. A co-worker drives one and she loves it. Higher spec models are very posh and loaded with convenience. If the current version of Sync allows climate control that would be one way of overcoming the no buttons or dials issue. Any inside info on the Fusion Active? 🙂 Always enjoy you guys.
If you want cargo space get the Expedition Max. Remember that you can only use that car seat installed tilt if you have your seats installed with LATCH. If you are using the seat belt like is recommended for many convertible seats you will not be able to tilt the seat. That being said we have three kids in car seats in the expedition Max and love it. Bench seat is a must if you have three in car seats that cannot buckle themselves reliably. This giant car drives like a smaller car in my opinion when compared with other full sized suvs like the suburban and Yukon XL.
"I usually go with the human head test" :) I like the styling. The hinged rear window is great if you have a bike rack on the back. "Child party bounce house of full sized SUVs."
I really want to know who can afford a $75,000 SUV. Those are just some crazy numbers. My wife and I are both college educated and fully employed and we would never dream of buying a car this expensive.
It really is insane… especially now- with taxes it’s basically 100k. Our family makes a good amount and even then affording a gas guzzling SUV near 100k with extremely high msrkups n high interest rate is not touchable. You have to be taking in 500k+ a year. We make a bit above half that n modern prices are too much when having other family expenses
My wife is 5'4" and she doesn't like the adjustable pedals on my F150. Although it can get closer to the driver, it also come up higher. So she cannot drive with her heel on the floor.
That console setup in the Expedition is what I'd like to see trickle down to the Explorer. The Telluride has a similar setup, and I believe that it's one of the reasons people would choose the Telluride over the Explorer (though the Explorer has better crash test scores)--an well thought out interior.
@@clearcut6818 Which is bad, since it's still a seller for Ford; you'd think with the Telluride/Palisade competition, they'd takt it seriously, but they're resting on their fleet sales laurels, I suppose.
I currently have a Town & Country and it works to tow my 19ft boat but I will be in the market for something that can tow more and hopefully a camper. The full size SV’s seem to be the answer that will allow family seating as well. Can I afford a used one and the gas? Not so sure.
Another fine review. I think it would be interesting if you could follow this up soon with something directly comparable, like the new Chevy Suburban (classic Ford vs. Chevy competition) or the Lincoln Navigator (same platform, how does it differ?). Or maybe someday you could attempt a comparison review video? The family could weigh in with their preferences, etc.
We've got a Toyota Sequoia review coming very soon. In it we'll hit on some of the advantages and disadvantages versus the Expedition. But you're right, a proper comparison could be interesting.
@@MicahMuzio BTW, this was yet another case where I have virtually zero interest in this particular vehicle, but I so enjoy your videos that I'll watch it anyway! The Sequoia will be the same.

@Michael-hi5xt I bought a 2023 Yukon Diesel. Ford was great but fuel economy stole the show. I get 27 mpg on the highway with a full car load of people, dogs and gear.
I used to drive a 2000 expedition and always marveled at how small it’s turning circle was for the size of the vehicle! I’m glad that is still the case. By the way, I love the Isuzu VehiCROSS t-shirt Micah 😃

Had an Expedition. Loved it. Traded in for Escalade. Talk about pricing. 🙄 Will get Expedition again.
Love having a lift glass option. Hate that a lot of manufacturers did away with it.
Agreed. Our 2017 Highlander has the lift glass, we use it, and the new version highlander doesn’t 👎🏻

THIS is 100% accurate - I have a 21 Explorer with the same touchpad and in Arizona direct sun, it fails about 30-40% of the time.
The whole family dynamics are just wholesome.

When will Ford offer a hybrid engine in the Expedition??
IRS has been standard since third gen, way back in 2008.

The answer is, people who can afford it. Although college is important, it’s basically just a paper diploma and debt.

A++ on the lifting back glass! So easy!
Nice video! Love those SUV's
Ford should offer this with a hybrid...and make it standard. They already have the F-150 powerboost, why not put that power train in the Expedition?
Micah despite its age it’s still way better than the most catastrophic suv redesign to date, AKA the Toyota sequoia
Even Micah was like, "the Nissan Armada is probably a better competitor to the Expedition than the Sequoia"
