    What do you think is the most important trait for a full-size SUV? Passenger space, comfort, towing capacity, a big V8, or something else?

    The rest of the Tahoe's center console is hidden. Up on the ceiling, there's a button that slides the console back for access to a secret drawer and enough room for 4 venti Starbucks fraps.

      Driven all three a lot and own several full size SUVs. The Jeep is nice, but I’d never own one based on reliability and dealer service. The Tahoe/Suburban is a bit nicer inside but the Ford steers and handles better and the torque from the EcoBoost V6 is fantastic. The GM and Ford are a toss up but no way I’d take another chance on Stellantis Jeep

    • @CJColvin
      @CJColvin 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      @wjtinatl The only with the Expedition is that it's overpriced and the Ecoboost engine won't outlast the 5.7L I-Force V8 in the 2020 Toyota Sequoia nor the 5.6L Endurance V8 in the Nissan Armanda.

    • @wjtinatl
      @wjtinatl 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      @@CJColvin well, they’re all overpriced in my book, I looked at a new Suburban Z71 with an 80k + sticker. And Grand Wagoneers’s are close to 100k. Regarding the EcoBoost vs a V8, I don’t think that’s true anymore. There are tons of F-150s with the 3.5 EcoBoost with 200k or more in them still running strong. And the GM v8s haven’t been close to trouble free. Jury is out on the Keep’s Hurricane 6, fingers crossed as it could break Stellantis if it turns out to be problematic. The Armada engine is fantastic, I agree. The rest of the Armada is awful and way past its sell by date and Toyota no longer offers the bulletproof V8, only a Turbo V6 now. Lots of good choices but for me it would only be the GM or Ford’s.

    The biggest sin of the Wagoneer? It doesn't have power folding mirrors. You have to upgrade to the Grand Wagoneer to get them. Sorry, but in a vehicle this wide for this price, power folding mirrors standard are a must, especially for those who want to park in tight parking spaces or have to park in a garage. As silly as it sounds, it's a deal breaker. I've used them in my Expedition and Navigator daily.

    My wife and I just test drove a fully spec'd Wagoneer ($90k) with air suspension and a full spec'd Escalade ($110k) back to back. The Escalade with magniride and adaptive air suspension was nice somehow we actually preferred the Wagoneer. It just felt like a smaller, easier to maneuver vehicle even though technically it's like 2 inches longer and wider. The Escalade did feel like you're riding on a cloud. I'm going to see if I can test drive the Lexus GX 550 ($81K when maxed out but a little smaller) before I pull the trigger. All 3 tow at least 9,000 pounds and have 3 rows.

    We were shopping in this segment a year ago. Test drove the Tahoe Z71. It rode like my 3/4 ton truck and had an interior on par with the quality of a Yugo. The Expedition was a better vehicle, but their trims and option packages made it hard to get what we wanted without buying a bunch of useless stuff we didn’t need. We ended up in a Wagoneer. It has been perfect. The ride is unbelievable with the air suspension, has loads of power in the 5.7 Hemi, and feels much nicer inside than either of the other two options.

However we hertz pulled came around the corner with three Wagoneer, I was like I know you have that white Suburban in back. But I was already late for my road trip so I just kept it. When I say I fell in love with the Jeep it was awesome, all 8 of us were extremely comfortable. The front passenger seat also had there own screen for entertainment. The only thing about this Jeep is that it is heavy, so you should plan to slow down sooner than you think you need to. Such an awesome underrated vehicle.

    Just rented an Expedition Limited for 2 weeks. First time with something like these. Mostly it was very good. Good power, comfortable. But the A/C wasn't fantastic. The liftgate didn't go out so high, or perhaps it was angled down a bit towards the bottom. Good head banging height for 6 footers. Perhaps that is adjustable more, but it seemed at its limit. As expected it didn't love being tossed around the backroads of connecticut. Other issues, the wireless phone charger location was difficult to access. While I suspect its the same for all, it was confusing when I first got from the rental agency. so many features, so big. Overall I think for the price it would be hard to find something better in terms of value. I always like small and fast but as I age comfort is nice. Also it held all 7 suitcases plus the rest of out stuff.

    I rode in a wagoneer and it rides very smooth almost floaty. The suburban however with the magniride was just amazing, 18 hour trip and I wasn't fatigued at all and my grandma who can never ride over 4 hours without popping vicodin for back pain didn't take a single pill. It really soaks up the bumps and even eliminates them. The Expedition however, is so harsh its crazy. Ive had about 3 different expedition rentals and it rides worst than my explorer although i do like the ecoboost. I was never a driver in the wagoneer so i can't speak for its handling but it off the suburban and expedition max the suburban handled better. The magniride kept it level in turns, it was ZERO lean, you could take a ramp at 40 mph and it stayed in place. The turn radius was sharper on the suburban also, shocked me i had to get out and check if the rear wheels where also turning.Also, If you use the button above your head in the Tahoe you can slide the entire console back and that's where my mom put her gigantic purse

    I did an in depth hands on comparison between the Grand Wagoneer L, Yukon Denali XL, and Expedition Platinum Max last spring. My rankings were the same as in this video, GW > Yukon > Expedition.
    GW was the nicest and felt the closest by far to giving you parity between price and features. The Yukon's interior felt 1-1.5 generations behind the GW's interior at not that big of a discount. The Expedition, though the cheapest of the three, felt noticeably overpriced.
    The Expedition felt the biggest while driving, the Yukon's ride was flinty, and the GW was smooth all around.
    From an interior usability standpoint, the GW won hands down for storage, general space, and features actually used by a family.
    I didn't end up getting any of them, but I'm thinking about reevaluating once the '25s come out.

But when you are towing, the important number is Payload Capacity. My Expedition with the Max Tow and Cargo package can tow 9300lbs and handle 1530lbs of payload ( trailer hitch weight + cargo+ passengers). This is better than many 1/2 ton pickup trucks. Would have been nice to see that comparison with the Wagoner.

    I own a 2023 GW SIII - L and my neighbor owned 2021 Escalade. After seeing mine daily and riding in it a few times, he switched to a Grand Wagoneer as well, granted his is a 2024, but still. I often see the GW compared to the likes to the Navigator and Escalade, so if you guys haven't done a comparison video of those yet, there's another feature option.
    Some people love them, like myself. Others think they're overly priced (somewhat fair) or are ugly (personal preference). I've always thought the Escalades looked terrible, so to each their own. I believe that especially for their first outing into the full size and luxury SUV markets, they did a moderate to good job.

      You must have had an old Yukon Denali. I’m ditching our 2020 Expedition Max for a 2022 Yukon Denali XL. Night and day difference in how smooth and composed the ride is in the Yukon. Same goes for the power train. Fords variant of the 10 speed is absolute trash - and I owned 3 Ford vehicles with the transmission so far.

      @AnontheGOAT I rent SUVs when I travel and am routinely in GMC products. I like my Max limited better. Grand Wagoneer has a beastly engine that is nice too. My Max is quicker (even the specs show that), the transmission has been smooth and rock solid, and the 10 speed transmission is great on the highway. There's more fuss in the GMC, IMHO and it feels like it's working harder. This is the reason we have choices in how we spend our dollars I guess. Both are nice in my opinion.

    • @AnontheGOAT
      @AnontheGOAT 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@calvinedwards4382 The interior is of more inferior quality(far more cheap plastics and hard surfaces strewn about the cabin), the ride is too soft in normal mode, it crashes over bumps, it can’t handle a turn without feeling like it’s gonna roll over, the transmission shift is horrendous(friend just had his replaced - 2018 Expy), my 2020 will eventually develop transmission issue(already can tell at 30k miles). The only good thing about it is towing capability and the engine.
      What’s hilarious is that you’re comparing a Limited to a Denali when the reality is that there is no comparison. A more fair comparison would have been the Platinum. My 2020 is also a Limited. The 2022 Denali that’s replacing is superior. The engine has tons of power, transmission feels like it’s not even there. The 3.5 ecoboost is nothing special until the turbos kick in. You’re only stating that the Expy is better because of ownership bias. I would too. But I have no loyalty. If the Yukon fails to deliver, I’ll be punting it too. But so far, doesn’t look like it.
