Well thought out. Weapon control and deployment is often ignored. Most self-defense scenarios are based on assumptions that may not be the best to use all the time.
That is a very good point on positioning! Thank You I've been jamming the backhand slash for years (I'm 68) I Alway believed in escaping as the best option, I think of myself as a very practical Martial Artist, but what you said about get off to the side deep makes sense, great video as always!
Excellent video, and I would strongly suggest people actually practice this technique. Because once you are out of the attackers center line. YOU HAVE THE POWER, to turn the table. This is very similar to the good JKD, not that watered down crap.
Thank you Professor David and Shihan Kenny for another inspiring informative video Have either one of you used what you teach in a confrontation on the street
Look... people...we need to produce some kinda action hero that's gonna fight just like these guys demonstrate... I'm talking Kung Fu for 21. century...I'm talking Bruce Lee hype rediscovered in a new way ...I'm talking Shang Chi done RIGHT(like in original comic)...I'm talking a MOVIE ...or a TV series... I guess I'm just tripping but you guys are awesome... I'm making my own comic book with a guy who does this kinda style... I'll give you a tribute in a book for sure...
Hello Professor David and Kenny, Thank you for the valuable material you are sharing. I think moving to the side may need more skill than going straight to the arm holding the weapon, because my mind as an untrained person will stay focused on the knife and it would never occur to me that I can step behind the aggressor. Also what about the Motion Causes Motion concept? Is it possible to do something at the beginning of the first move, and not wait for the returning hand? I can already see that the initial move gives little time to react, and I am not sure if an untrained person can learn quickly how to respond. That response might need a lot of training, but it would be a good thing if you can share something in this regard. Respectfully
