Beautiful. I've seen a number of those 'pilot view' videos but this one is my favorite. Not only a smooth landing (as far as I can tell with my limited aviation knowledge) but also an amazing northern landscape. I would really like to see more of those landings / takeoffs filmed at distant north locations.

There are a mighty few pilots who can land ANY plane at that runway... Most of them are local 🤘🏻 i grew up 3km from that runway. "Skills" doesn't even cover it...
I'm not an expert, but I believe those are just to visually guide you towards the runway, especially when there's low visibility. And yeah they do look like they're floating. They seem to be mounted up on towers, to keep them level with the runway.

As far as I know, I think you need a special education in order to land on that runway. They also have specially designed software in order to make it easier to land on this particular runway, so they don’t have to abort landings so often, as they did in the past - where they either fly to Norway or Iceland to land and try again the next day. One time when I was going to the Faroe Islands to visit my grandparents, the pilot aborted the landing three times and really close to the ground. We have severe turbulence, crosswinds and fog. You could really feel the G’s when they sped up again from maybe 50 meters above the runway. We circled the runway for almost two hours - which is longer than the actual flight from Copenhagen took. The pilot said that he would try one more time, and if that didn’t work out, then we would go to Bergen in Norway. Luckily he was able to land the third time. Was terrifying.

I used to land here many times during the eighties in a 50 seater Fokker from Glasgow, it was a truly crazy flight every time lol!
It is even more beautiful from the other side, when approaching over Sørvágur.
