Honestly I thought she was cute in the Doin the Do video but she's stunning here!! Why this girl did not become bigger than she did is beyond me. She had the voice, face and body to become a megastar.
Betty got negative press for getting caught miming on an Australian tour, stepped away for a bit, didn't do so well solo career wise, then quit in her early 20's when her mum died. Doing all right for herself, though - for starters Betty wrote Her'say's big hit "Pure And Simple!.
Her mother got cancer and she decided to look after her until she passed. After that her heart wasnt in it anymore 😢

@ unstoppableguy - Yeah Warner's really dropped the ball on this one. Universally positive reviews for the album, three great singles with fun videos and still plenty of fondness for the earlier music. Yet someone somewhere simply decided she wasn't worth promoting and the dumper beckoned...

I know this isn't popular but whenever I see a woman artist from the 80-90s perform and compare with women now - say for the last ten years - and even though this is pop - the singers were still distinguishable back in the day. It's very hard to see much of a difference between many 'top 40' vocalists now - and also there's an ugly feeling about some of them. Watch the videos nowadays - there's a monstrous/loud/aggressive arrogance about them - and they're all ALWAYS sexually aggressive (while often "woke" about body objectification). Its the strangest feeling because these are not unattractive people - but the vibe is often deeply unattractive. Anyone agree?

Betty seems to hate men. The poor guy in the song doesn't seem to have done much wrong , yet Betty is singing lines like 'you're a sissy writing poetry'.
Sadly the formula wasn't made to last. Catchy chorus sandwiched between simple rap verses and a whole lot of leg. By the time her second album was released it was already getting stale.
