New member and a new Camp Chef flat top owner. I've watched a ton of videos and read countless reviews before i bought the Camp Chef. Your videos have been the most helpful by far. I have vast experience smoking and grilling. To the point where i use You Tube for ideas to make my recipes better. I love staying on top of my grill, I've grilled for parties of hundreds, (no joke). Flat top is a different story, learning where the heat is coming from has been major issue for me. I will get it though, I love food to much not to. I love what you do, Maybe because you are the most relatable to me but it seems like i get more from your videos than any others I watch. I used this video to do a simple Hibachi steak and shrimp, It came out really good but i got a little overwhelmed at completion time. I was totally prepared going in, had a great plan and executed well until it was time to plate. Everything turned out good but not having plates ready was the difference between good and great. I referred to one of your earlier videos about having a table with everything i need on it. This is a mistake that will not happen again.

Cooking on the big blackstone! That hole in the back is perfect! But, a pro tip for you! Use the Scraper with the little handle on it. Easier, a little more distance from the griddle surface, AND, a little more reach to the back of the griddle. The blackstone one. Once you try it, you'll never go back! :)

Amy darlin', about heating up the rice; the way a microwave works is it heats up the water resident in whatever food is put in it. You saw the rice "jumping" on the griddle top which is the resident water being heated to steam and rapidly escaping (a portion of the water), so the griddle top was putting heat to that water just as the microwaves would do. It took a little longer because of differences in action/method, but the end result is similar.

I can’t wait to start cooking on my new flat top! I’ve been watch a lot of your videos and I noticed that you use a lot of butter. Is that for flavor? In the kitchen I use olive oil, what are your thoughts on that?
well two reasons...butter allows you to immediately recognize how hot the flat top is...oils typically do not. OK, so you're talking budget, saving money. And you use pre-made rice? Come on folks, you're better then that. I mean if someone wants to save time alright. But if you're concerned about saving money? Few things are less expensive then using rice. Maybe potatoes. Great rice from the grain takes very little time. @@TheFlatTopKing oh ok rhank for the correction
I've watched enough of your videos to trust you but, no salt and pepper?
Pepper Ill give ya......but after tasting the sauce we both agreed it was way salty to begin with...hey thats up to you...but dont taste before ya add
Shieeetttt I just paid $30 for a 3 pack of the bachans smh
I would never buy pre cooked rice. Buy rice, Cook it. Probably can make it for 1, 10th of the cost of precooked. Will never happen in my house.
ok....I dont think that was the point of this video...i personally agree...we make it...I think you would be surprised how many people do not..that was more of the theme...
Okay, seriously, that technique is not natural for most. Ironically, I’m doing hibachi tonight. I’ll post it in the Griddle Group By The Flat Top King
Thanks Kelly...
REMOVE those nasty tendons from the chicken. quick n easy with a fork and napkin.
Make a big batch, enough for a day or two ( heck I will use rice and milk plus a little sugar the next mourning as a breakfast, hmmm ) Other then that good video. Have a great day, hope it's not too hot where you live. 🌤😋
Yes i agree I was trying to balance budget and easy...but you are 100 correct.. yes the heat today and the rest of the week makes it extremely hard to film...high 90s with 100 humidity...BUT we will push through and a few months complain its too cold...ahhahaha
@@TheFlatTopKing man I'm sorry to hear about the heat you have. Here in the Pacific Northwest we have been experiencing the wettest and coldest spring on record. Folks have been complaining as such. I mention to them other places in our country are experiencing a heat wave so be happy with our weather. After all, it's easy to put on more clothes. But you can only take off so much. And at my age (63) trust me when I say NO ONE wants to see THAT! 😁😆😅🤣😂 Stay hydrated 🔥🌤👍🍻😁
@@victorbenner539 Ahhahahahaha I was literally thinking the same thing bout me while filming. I cant take off the clothes and NO ONE wants to see that. Keep in touch Victor.
@@TheFlatTopKing will do sir. Good to be on the same page.
Best barracks meal haha
Hey now...I tried harder than that..ahahahahha I wish I could go back now and cook for all of them with all of the new things going on in the griddle world...heck we NEVER thought of a smash burger....or tacos on the griddle anything like that..we could have had one Hell of a party
@@TheFlatTopKing hahaha morale booster at the barracks!
