    Great advice! Another way to save a buck is to make dry rice from scratch and not pre-made. I make 2-3 lbs at a time on use it throughout the week. Homemade sauce and fresh veggies may keep costs down also. I love what you're doing ! Keep filming good content!

    New member and a new Camp Chef flat top owner. I've watched a ton of videos and read countless reviews before i bought the Camp Chef. Your videos have been the most helpful by far. I have vast experience smoking and grilling. To the point where i use You Tube for ideas to make my recipes better. I love staying on top of my grill, I've grilled for parties of hundreds, (no joke). Flat top is a different story, learning where the heat is coming from has been major issue for me. I will get it though, I love food to much not to.
    I love what you do, Maybe because you are the most relatable to me but it seems like i get more from your videos than any others I watch. I used this video to do a simple Hibachi steak and shrimp, It came out really good but i got a little overwhelmed at completion time. I was totally prepared going in, had a great plan and executed well until it was time to plate. Everything turned out good but not having plates ready was the difference between good and great. I referred to one of your earlier videos about having a table with everything i need on it. This is a mistake that will not happen again.

      If I knew Yesterday what I know today, would I have made the same decision..
      So next time you will know all the goods and bads about heat, gear, and food and will absolutely KILL IT.....your to good not to...its all about experience...

    Amy darlin', about heating up the rice; the way a microwave works is it heats up the water resident in whatever food is put in it. You saw the rice "jumping" on the griddle top which is the resident water being heated to steam and rapidly escaping (a portion of the water), so the griddle top was putting heat to that water just as the microwaves would do. It took a little longer because of differences in action/method, but the end result is similar.

    I can’t wait to start cooking on my new flat top! I’ve been watch a lot of your videos and I noticed that you use a lot of butter. Is that for flavor? In the kitchen I use olive oil, what are your thoughts on that?

    • @TheFlatTopKing
      @TheFlatTopKing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      well two reasons...butter allows you to immediately recognize how hot the flat top is...oils typically do not. If doing breakfast using butter for eggs to me is the best way for both non stickish and flavor..
      As for this specific recipe when you go to the Asian steakhouse they predominantly use butter in there cooking...just kinda keeping the same theme

    You can get frozen onions and peppers and that is a different flavor. Basic good food is where cooks learn. Watching this and other channels about griddling, this is the kind of recipe that can, over time. become more complex with other ingredients. As you said, you need to start somewhere. I think that the griddle is the latest extension of the grill, smoker etc where aficionados' have so much experience and drive to create wonderful and creative food. But, on my travels through the FB pages and TH-cam, I see the two paths. Some video creators or FB pages welcome the novice griddler more than others (BTW, you are one of 4 YTubers I put in that top tier). One doesn't know what a home cook knows about her recipes for the stove/oven and what experience in grills and such they are starting from. Let's be frank here. I can cook indoors, but give me a grill and I just don't succeed in making anything worthwhile. However, the griddle gives me a more familiar type of surface that I can understand the heat patterns and such. Which may also resonate with other cooks who burn hamburgers on the grill. So, what you are doing with the educational videos is, in my opinion, going to open doors for all these people who suddenly discovered the griddle and how to use it.

    OK, so you're talking budget, saving money. And you use pre-made rice? Come on folks,you're better then that. I mean if someone wants to save time alright. But if you're concerned about saving money? Few things are less expensive then using rice. Maybe potatoes. Great rice from the grain takes very little time. Make a big batch,enough for a day or two ( heck I will use rice and milk plus a little sugar the next mourning as a breakfast, hmmm ) Other then that good video. Have a great day, hope it's not too hot where you live. 🌤😋
