      Yeah it always suprised me that it was portrayed as super impressive from them that only Ned and one more survived. Like honestly Arthur Dayne is pretty much the best fighter to ever live with the best sword to exist. And given that Ned and co are northmen and not knight they prbly werent wearing heavy armor like the kings guard either and none of them should have been extraordinarily skilled. I mean the Father of Meera and Jojen for example who ended up surviving shouldnt just be avg but shitty af in combat from what we heard

    after reading the 5 books 3x each already (not including the fire and blood and the knights of seven kingdoms), I suddenly realised why was Arthur Dayne so celebrated when in fact he did a very horrible thing? I think he is a worse judge of character to fight Ned when Ned just literally wants his sister back.
    I don't know where his morals lie in the moment, but conspiring against your king, following orders directly from the prince (heir but not yet on the throne), Allegedly helped rhaegar kidnap lyanna and held lyanna a hostage for over a year. Breaking every last bit of vow he had swore to do.
    he is a KINGSGUARD not a PRINCEGUARD

    • @Justacityboy

      He was protecting his king from Robert's wrath, even if they knew Ned would protect his nephew they would rather face the armies of the whole seven kingdoms by themselves than recognising the usurper as king while the rightful king spends his life hidden as a bastard.

    • @hexflash.
      @hexflash. 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Justacityboy oh shut up hahahaha that's not the reason. The reason is Dayne is guilty that Rhaegar kidnapped lyanna and he know Ned will kill them all so he has no choice but to eliminate Ned but he is the one eliminated hahahaha.
      Imagine for a whole year, lyanna couldn't even write a letter to her parents or even her brother's. That's the proof that she is held captive and is r*ped continuously until she bear a child for Rhaegar's madness.

      @The Law Not only that, Hightower and Whent talk about saving Aerys, and yet they were actively supporting Rhaegar who was heavily implied plotting to remove his dad from the throne. Not that Rhaegar would've been better, as look at the mess he caused with him and Lyanna running off without telling anyone.

    • @jojobinx9667
      @jojobinx9667 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      The Law well I wouldn’t entirely agree with this comment as Rhaegar wanted Hightower there and he had to convince him to stay. Arthur and Whent stayed to protect the heir they were both extremely close with Rhaegar so they stayed both were loyal to a fault. I wish we had more on Oswell such a left out character. He is a dark humored man while Gerold was a stern and to the point leader. And the bravest of them all Ser Arthur Dayne The Sword of the Morning. He was brave and loyal to Rhaegar because they were said to have been close and he was Rhaegars best friend. So in closing Rhaegar asked them to stay and guard the heir. Gerold was the only reluctant once because the mad king sent him to fetch his son but Rhaegar someway somehow convinced old Ser Gerold to stay with the others to protect the prince who was promised.

    • @jojobinx9667
      @jojobinx9667 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The Law all great points I love hearing stuff like this. Just leading up to the trident was just a mess. Prince Lewyn Martell had no choice but to march to the trident because of the mad king holding his niece captive so he would take around 10,000 Dornish men to the trident. Jonothor Darry could have stayed with the mad king and let Jaime go. I’m not giving every thing that made this a mess but it is Rhaegar and the mad kings fault. The mad king defends his son and burns Eddards father and eldest brother. Rhaegar ran away with Lyanna. I feel though if Ser Arthur Dayne was at the trident it would have ended differently. Robert would have fallen, I guarantee that. I do not believe any one man could beat Arthur in single combat the only reason he “died” because theories, was Howland Reed. I also think in my point of view at the tower of joy I’m not saying you’re wrong I just think what makes it so depressing is that they both are fighting for the same thing and they can’t put their vows aside when all ten of them could have left that place alive. Though I also have to hate to believe that because of the prowess and their vows the in my opinion greatest era of Kingsguard would not bend the knee like above. But I like to believe myself that Arthur would have at least could see their similarities. I believe the reign of the mad king had the most honorable and distinguished age. Arthur and Ned being the most honorable men in the realm. They both had everything in common besides I believe two things at the tower of joy. Arthur has sworn to Rhaegar that he’d protect his son. While Ned didn’t know any of this and was looking for his lost sister . I also believe that one was but a Knight and one was a Lord. One was the king in the North while the other was the Sword of the Morning. Yet they both respected one another even in the end. Arthur was a man who swore to do his duties until his last even if he found it dishonorable. That’s just my take I’m not saying in any way you’re wrong it’s just how I interpret most of leading up to and the tower of joy.
