Gidday mate, how have you found the holding power with this model? I'm thinking about setting up an FC390 dinghy for spearing flounder at night, setting the longline and general in close fishing. Have looked at this exact model Minn Kota and wondered if it was up to the job or not, your boat is much bigger so if it holds that easily on spotlock I should be quids in on a 390

John, yep holds my fc535 in the kaipara current no problem at all - sh it sould piss in on the 390

Do you have to mount on a quick release base or can it be mounted directly to the mounting plate?
You can hard mount these so they are a permanently attached
