@@salinaember9527of course, overwatch players were the ones hyping the game up. Rivals entered a scene that was controlled purely by overwatch for a while, but this is still childish. Initial stupidity doesn’t warrant being incredibly annoying under every overwatch post.
@@Jidom_101 Ik pretty positive the first time I heard about marvel rivals was when the original trailer came out and a bunch of overwatch players were saying It looks like a mobile game Everything looks so bad and unbalanced It's by netease it's gonna be horrible. Etc. People still say this stuff btw
It blows my mind how many people who clearly don't play Overwatch want to see it crumble. The Honeymoon phase of Marvel rivals will end in a couple of months and then you'll see more clearly the merits and blatant faults of both titles.
You fail to mention many of those people were once big Overwatch fans. They’re just not putting up with OW2 and all it’s faults anymore. They literally only made OW2 to get rid of lootboxes and sell skins for way too high a price. It was just a plain and simple cash grab there is no refuting that. A big middle finger to all of it’s players. And not only that they got rid of 6v6 for literally no reason, they literally LIED about PvE, and for what? Money. Now they’re “bringing back 6v6” but they’re not. It’s just bait to bring back some of their player base every now and then with these “tests”. They know majority likes 6v6 more which is why they’re not gonna fully revert it until they REALLY need to. Rivals may not be perfect but it’s faults are nowhere as bad compared to OW2 and it’s scummy management.
Just started playing Rivals last night and it's much slower with not as much depth as OW (from what I can tell so far). It's got some cool heroes but also a mostly dps roster just like OW lol. Supposedly it's got better monetization than OW but as a game itself I don't get the hype.
Because they are jaded overwatch players who don't get enough attention in real life so they are trying to get attention from daddy blizzard, which will never happen.
I think it's because many overwatch content creators got so jaded on overwatch that they attract jaded ow players. People who actually want to play the game are playing the game, not watching youtuber vs dev politics videos.
7:20 i mean i also blame streamers like flats and a few others for stoking the flames and pretty much completely ignoring OW and constantly talking badly about it, especially flats who keeps comparing both games and dunking on OW every chance he gets which riles up his fanbase and keeps the “MR good OW trash” narrative going around online.
This is the problem. So many have been hypocritical talking about Rivals and OW and saying that both games have their own sets of players and not needing to compare them so people can enjoy whichever game they want. Then they're immediately on the trash talking and clickbait game to stoke fires that aren't needed. Flats being a big prime example, even though I enjoy his stuff, where he said people shouldn't bother comparing and then goes straight to causing problems.
@@MarcusSinlak yup, like not even covering anything season 14 related, and everytime someone asks him about a new update he says “i don’t give a shit”, “i couldn’t care less”, “i have 0 desire to play the game”… all of which is fair but they need to stop acting like they aren’t part of the problem. the 6v6 test began and not a single streamer besides karq and ml7 actually gave their insights on the test, the rest either played for less than an hour and didn’t give their thoughts or completely ignored it which is shocking to me because it’s such an important topic for the future of the game. just an overall bad time for someone like me that doesn’t enjoy MR content but can’t find any OW content to consume outside playing the game myself lol
@@TinyLokiGaming emong and karq have both played season 14 and still post ow videos, and they don’t constantly flame OW and compare it to MR and say MR is the better game… so what’s your point?
I don’t think it’s a matter of can or will, I think rivals and overwatch need to coexist. Rivals isn’t a savior, they still need to compete, if rivals somehow beat out overwatch and killed it forever, rivals would very likely suffer as well. Monopolies are innately toxic, no matter who it is at the center. You just have to know, all the people going into every overwatch post and posting “rivals better”, “dead game”, “why are you still on overwatch” are all cancers to the medium. They don’t care about actually building a healthier industry, they don’t care about anything, they’re defined by their hate, and it’s ultimatly an unhealthy way to prop up rivals. Rivals has to stand on its own if it hopes to survive.
2:34 for this take, it would feel awful if you attacked second and pushed all the way just to find out you didn't do it fast enough and now you lose by technicality
Hot take: Overwatch 2 has VASTLY better Support and Tank playstyles and fantasies than Marvel Rivals, even in 5v5 where those fantasies can be instantly culled with counterswapping. Tanks especially have such weird kits Like Compare Sigma/Zarya to Magneto, or Rein to Strange, there's so much less depth and strategy to the tank kits in Rivals
Hot take: Marvel rivals isn’t even a shooter. There’s only 5characters with guns, and the hitboxes put the ow season 9 changes to shame. It’s more of a hero brawler and the fps players won’t stick with it for the long run.
I'm not a Marvel Rivals stan but I disagree about the hitboxes. I find it very challenging to hit shots and I'm a pretty good diamond Ashe on Overwatch.
I don't like marvel rivals for the simple reason that it doesn't allow my hybrid controls. Accessibility should not be optional in game development and is one of the reasons I have stuck with overwatch. I might have loved rivals but i will never find out unless they add the option.
Peopl are forgeting why double shields was annoying asf ... 1: 2cp 2: orisas shield shape 3: Brigitte bastiin and bap .... all of those problems basically did get addressed or changed but now we have juno and kuri that give teams more value from diving
In terms of the "uniqueness" of characters in marvel rivals I'd say yes for the characters themselves but not so much for a lot of how their ability's work like Black Widow being made a sniper character was clearly them wanting to have their own version of Widow as in the comics Black Widow is more a nimble close to mid range character that would be utilizing movement and short range projectiles from her wrist blasters if anything she should be more a mashup of sombra and tracer lol. I also dont like how so many of the projectiles in Rivals to me just feel like Kiriko, I dont have a problem with Kiri I just feel projectiles are more interesting and varied in OW. I honestly feel like with a lot of the characters in Rivals the devs just looked at overwatch and mashed up a load of kits from it.
To give some credence to the Rivals devs, at a certain point you _do_ end up having similar ideas and taking inspirations from games similar to what you're creating, especially with such a large cast of characters that you have to design abilities and kits for. For example: Starlord may be the Tracer of Rivals, but there's also nothing like Moon Knight in OW Overwatch itself wouldn't exist as it does if the devs didn't take inspiration from TF2 for many aspects of the game's overall design, style, and gameplay. Easiest comparisons are Tracer and Scout, Reinhardt and Demoknight, Pharah and Soldier, but there are some looser ones like Mei and Pyro or Junkrat and Demoman. Also in terms of accuracy of characters, Black Widow would _definitely_ be better as a more flanker assassin style of character, but the Rivals devs do seem to be taking the chance with relatively unique interpretations of the characters at their disposal and all things considered they did do a pretty good job making BW fit a sniper archetype while making her interesting
1:45 I can actually answer that question because i took the habit of recording all my ranked games results since season 12 of OW1 (don't call me crazy, i'm already aware i am). Anyway, during the last season (13 of OW2), i played 27 Hybrid maps and out of that, only 2 went to 3-3 : one Draw and one Loss 3-4 and i remember we had a second round for both team. Fun fact, both games were on Numbani.
Widowmaker can change how an entire team plays just to not get server admined, no hero should be able to do that. Take away her one shot and that issue stops
I've been enjoying both a lot in the last 2 weeks honestly. Whichever one I'm playing at the moment kinda just depends on what hero I'm in the mood for
@@somaraparicio3537Hanzo also can one shot and hold a full charge. Thry should add this to Hanzo, as keeping a bow like this is pretty much physically impossible
Hot take: The Community Crafted version of Sombra was the most fun she was ever to play and play against and they should add this version to the main game. She will definitely need a nerf on the movement speed because that was too fast (it was over the speed cap) and she doesn't need her translocator to go as far as it did in the game mode, but having a larger detection radius that is in her effective range helps a lot with the frustrations of going against her and still allows her to sneak up on people without allowing her to spawn camp. Also it will help her deal with widow better than her current version.
i dont think marvel rivals have boring characters, however personally i prefer overwatch because they're crafted to fit into the game and world they've built, rivals has different characters coming from different universes. personally am just tired of the multiverse trope atp but i still love both games, just prefer ow world and characters
15:48 Hot Take: this might be where marvel rivals lack where overwatch thrives. They aren't original characters, they're stuck to their identity from the comics/movies, so there will only be so much to work with. Not saying that can't be fun, but if you already know a ton about a certain character, then it might get boring quickly. Meanwhile overwatch has fully original characters with certain homage to different play styles
mid take: I agree with the direction youd like them to change widow, Specially from the lens of someone who has played TF2, Where a few years ago we had bot issues and Sniper, a character who functions very similarly to widowmaker, was the hottest topic as a class, The difference that OW Lacks and I think could use is when in tf2 you Fully charge a shot, your opponents can see a red dot where you are aiming, I think that + adding some sort of shake when getting chipped could help the overall situation. Another solution that was thrown back in the day for that Issue was to increase the time it takes to get a fully charged shot, I would love to hear your thoughts on how this would affect widow, because as a boomer player this situation is funny to me. ( Also I have to mention the OW Vs Marvel Rivals take me back to the pre release, and release of Overwatch where people did the tf2 vs ow thing, its annoying but I think eventually it will fade away)
People around saying that Rivals will kill Overwatch have no idea what they are talking about. The simple existence of Rivals will bring literally millions of new players to the genre of hero shooters, some will stick, and part of would end up trying Overwatch and find their place there. It's literally a net positive for players just from the free publicity alone, not to mention the other positive aspects that competition brings to the game.
Hot take: Now this is a random idea I thought of but, what is the reason Overwatch characters are slightly more Interesting is due to their story’s not being full told? For an example, if you wanna know why strange has the power of the dark arts, boom found instantly online, maybe why his cape seems alive, doom found instantly. Meanwhile you have questions for overwatch characters like what happened to the jet that almost killed Hazard, no true answer yet thus you actually get to speculate and theorize coming to your own conclusion which is much more fun than just having it shoved down your throat. Also it doesn’t help that some characters are still tied to the sinking ship that is the MCU making their characters worse and worse (I’m looking at you smart hulk).
So u basically saying that in ow you can made up your own canon, but in mr you can’t because you can search online (also you may not search and it wouldn’t be “shoved down your throat”? That is kinda meh take
@ well it’s the simple fact of interpretation and theorizing, until it’s answer you will always have a differing cannon for some things than I will. In MR it’s a “from what I’ve been given in the game I think this-“, “nope, you’re wrong”, “but this and this point to that-“, “retcon/story reinvention”. The marvel story’s have been said and done multiple times over with a good amount of repeating itself, which is honestly dull when you think of it.
@ though even though I am attempting to make a counter argument I understand that is your opinion thus by nature you’re correct since it is your option. And thank you for stating that, I feel like people love saying their opinion as fact thus it’s a relief to have someone mention it since even this is just my opinion.
@@archie.archer In OW you can theorize about the lore and that drive community engagement, OW also comes up with new characters and new stories while Marvel Rivals characters already exists and already have their own story. You don't see anyone talking about the lore of Marvel Rivals and you don't see anyone really talking about the characters and how they interact, meanwhile people are constantly talking about this in OW
The problem im having with rivals right now is that so many of the characters are clearly derivative of OW characters...but they dont feel as good to play as Overwatchs' (for me). Like yeah, Black panther and Psylock are fun to play but they're no Genji - and Luna Snow feels nice sure, but she's no Lucio or Kiri. Its really holding me back lol.
@@Drago-fc3zlThat's fair, but a lot of the rivals characters are clearly borrowing elements of OW characters and it's just hard for me to play rivals when in the back of my mind I know OW does the same character archetypes much better. I've only got so much time in a day to play hero shooters, and if I think one game does it better, then I'll stick with the better one because it's a better use of my time.
I'm a Brig OTP since OW2 S6 and played her now for more than 800h. I love to OTP her, to adapt to my team, but i got much hate from all sides. It 's hard, but this is strategy for me. To use my cd's wisely and don't spam everytime. I don't need to think which is now the best support for my team or in this situation, and i don't care what my team wants to play. I need to adapt my playstyle to my team and they to my. And everyone needs to adapt the own playstyle to their team, doesn't matter what they play.
I know both MR and OW are hero shooters but they feel completely different for me. Just the perspective change makes me play either game for different reasons. But i also think playing games like Valorant made me much more appreciative of the currency system in OW while a ton of people hate it. Like being able to get a skin for free at ALL is a game changer compared to Valorant where youre paying 20 dollars on average per skin, and there are no "free skins" even the recolors you play like 10 dollars for.
@@viktoryc I don't think people really hate ow monetization, it's pretty much in the average for a live service game, we hate the circumstances around ow monetization shift. The content drought before the switch to seasons, the paywalling of previously obtainable skins, the 20 bucks skins in the shop and battlepasses while not really being a "new" game. Anyone who bought ow1 essentially got shafted. A large portion seem to switch to MR out of spite when the game has the exact same monetization as ow2 (minus the ultra premium mythics to push fomo even more).
@@1oviedo632 its true tho , since overwatch have free reign to do whatever tf they want since they have no competition , now that rivals is here they 100% gonna have to lock in and make the game better , sure its not gonna happen in a while since updates needs time u know ? But expect overwatch to actually be better in a couple seasons
A rival game appearing on the market also offering only skins as content isn't going to do that. Marvel Rivals is just solidifying that in this genre the skins are the content. At best you can expect more free skins, more effort in the collabs, and perhaps more lucrative offers.
I think the take about balance is o pretty spot on, even very miror changes can catapult certain heroes into meta. Remmeber that 0.5 damage increase on Tracer and she was literally picked every game. Also the fact most heores are perfectly viable untill very high ranks is another sign of great balance.
Hot Take: similar to the take about one tricks, but one tricks really seem to have the most fun playing ow. so i think, in competitive, if you wanna have fun, start one tricking your favourite hero, instead of having to worry about swapping to multiple different heroes, you get to still play your favourite and force yourself to learn to adapt, i also like having a one trick on my team because i know they typically are good at their one trick, and im not really flex player either, but with my one trick i try to support them pr help them when they struggle which really allows them to pop off, might be confirmation bias, nah it definitely is but i feel like i win with some crazy one tricks quite often, i often lose with the players that switch their hero 5+ times throughout a match
4:00 Widow already has to take time to charge her shot they could take a little "inspiration" from Hawkeye and apply that to Widow. Still a one shot headshot but she has to track you to build up that damage (works through shields)
I think the reason I enjoy both is because they don't feel the same at all really. There's just something about it being 3rd person that keeps it from scratching the same itch as OW for me (and my friends as well). It's a format that just doesn't feel as competitive to me so it never feels as sweaty. I can sit down and play some QP in Rivals and have a blast the entire time just kinda messing around with team-ups, but for OW it being FPS makes me want to lock in. Idk if anyone else feels that way, but it's a large reason for me.
I absolutely hate how payload/hybrid works in comp. If team 2 gets the payload to the end of the map faster (or further than team 1), that should be match end. I almost aways get 3-3 too and it's such a waste of time. Seriously what's the point of the first two rounds if they don't even decide who wins or loses? The only mobility option they should ever give Ana is a simple ledge vault like Doom 2016 has. Not a full wall climb, just if she can *almost* vault a ledge she pulls herself the rest of the way up. I'd enjoy seeing how it'd play out as it wouldn't give her crazy escape routes, but I don't think she *needs* it. Hopefully it'd be a QOL change if anything.
Hot take: People dont hate kiriko because of her warsrobe. They just hate that instead of a hero skin for another heroes, they just get the same characters getting a skin and people didnt want to play a character they main just having a basic default skin which made them feel like they do not stand out and having rhe same character especially kiriko skin, just make them feel like they dont get any validation unless they play that hero well
As much as this would be a dream come true, it’ll never happen. First, the sunk cost fallacy will prevent blizzard from putting the necessary resources into the game to truly swap it over, the DPS player base will riot once their queue times spike back up and likely quit the game, too much of the community now identifies with 5v5 over 6v6 and would likely quit the game if we reverted back, but there is no guarantee 6v6 brings back the old die hards. Additionally, this test has been horribly timed during the rivals release and likely won’t have the player count necessary to convince them. 6v6 is clearly the better mode for the type of game OW is, but going 5v5 was likely blizzards point of no return they’ll never truly swap back.
@@Shortstop803 I feel like rivals success will open their eyes - 5v5 homogenised overwatch making it slower and more like a traditional shooter, it took the sauce out the game, where rivals has that fun chaotic nature So far I’ve actually had better queue times in 6v6 Overwatch, but not only that, it’s just so much more fun! I really really hope they swallow their pride and bring it back permanently 😭
My hot take is that even if marvel rivals didn't come into the picture, overwatch's player numbers would still be taking a nosedive. The game ain't fun anymore for a lot of people.
Regarding the hybrid hot take. I think the issue I have it there's so many modes that are roughly 10 minutes or less now, then there's hybrid and payload that can go for 20+. Sometimes you want one last game before you have to go to some other obligation and you've been getting push and control point all day, then finally when you need a quick game it's the longest one all day.
If one-tricks are a problem for casual players because those casual players only use 1 or 2 heroes, then wouldn't that make those players similar to one-tricks?
(Unfortunately) Hot Take: I think people don't spend enough time actually fully thinking about what they like in a season's changes and voicing it out, especially since most get too caught up in hate and criticism to even think about it. Not to say criticism doesn't have its place, it definitely does, but I just don't really see anyone actually talking about what they _enjoy_ from each update more than a few words upon seeing it! I really like Frogger's end-season retrospective videos for this reason cause he just gives his honest thoughts and it's so refreshing to watch tl;dr I think it'd be healthier if people spent a little time to think about even just 3 things they like from a new update, instead of getting so caught up in hate/criticism that they don't actually voice what they do enjoy
What ppl cannot deny is that streamer and ppl in general are having so much fun in these few days with rivals that overwatch have brought in these last 4 to 5 years, like super is really excited playing wolverine, and wanted looks actually really happy in his streams, like a bunch of other streamers/gamers i think rivals its good for overwatch in a manner that they cam use this to be better, but they already lost a bunch of people that were tired of begging for fixes and upgrades for this game for years and years.
I hate the mindset of the current Rivals community with a burning passion. I always play flex. We go into comp, immediately at least 3 dps are hard locked and that's fine. The problem is those dps do nothing and then refuse to swap. I'm always healer or Tank fighting an actual team comp by myself or getting dove on while Moon Knight is corner camping the whole game and Hawkeye is has been trying to kill Iron Man for 8 minutes. In 1 sitting I went from Bronze 3 to plat 3 then lost 8 games in a row because everyone wants to dps. I can't do it anymore. I'm going to do my daily and log off. I feel that's why they're making support characters that are an odd support pick (like Ultron) so people might actually play it. Edit: all my playtime as dps is in Conquest.
What you said about Marvel Rivals succeeding is my point exactly, I hope it succeeds in order to pump OW2 executives to do better because people now have an other game to play that’s similar. Loved your comments thank you
what do you mean “why are you watching these hot takes, if you dont play overwatch”? of course I watch it because of you and your perfect reading. Nice takes too, love u KarQ
Lucios healing burst needs work. Since the dps passive he has losst so much value for his healing. Its gett I ng to the point where playing heals is akin to throwing
10:40 i mean if a otp doesn't synergize with you because you only play 1 or 2 heroes... you're a two trick, you don't really have the right to complain that someone else is a one trick. if the enemy team is more flexible than you then they should be rewarded
I for one am waiting for Marvel Rivals to last 6 more years. Overwatch has at least shown longevity from its community pleading for consistency with the IP. Marvel has anything BUT a consistent legacy to 90% of folk.
Rivals is super overrated, People keep acting like its the Overwatch killer but it's not, it just came out not long ago and that is why people are so in love with it, once some time passes they'll start complaining and see the faults once the rose tinted glasses come off. Both are fun, both are enjoyable and both can exist but saying Rivals is so good that it'll end overwatch is a massive lie,it won't, If anything Rivals being out should make OW want to improve and vis versa. The people who "Quit" Overwatch for MR are lying to themselves to. "I'm done with OW" then they back on there next day.
i might be the minority but ive played OW since release and since MR released i havent booted up OW once. I do agree that the honeymoon phase needs to pass a little more but so far im having a blast with rivals !
I’ll probably never ever play overwatch ever again i truthfully dont think there’s anything they can do to fix that chunk that left. Overwatch could’ve been so much more, I hope nothing but the best for overwatch as a whole one of the first games I really can think damn I loved this. But with all the bad decisions and radio silence people got older I got older, and people feel scorned by ow. And this is how people react, it’s sad both games have their merits and I truly don’t think any side should be fighting. But realistically you’re not going against marvel rivals fans I’m not saying they aren’t fans of marvel rivals a lot are I am too, but you’re going against overwatch fans, you can’t convince me they don’t have love for overwatch still I do too, despite everything I do. But I wouldn’t ever play the game again I played at a high level for years even did locals. I don’t openly shit on the game for no reason, but if someone asked me if overwatch 2 is better than marvel rivals no. Marvel rivals is infinitely better, ow2 started off in the worst way imaginable, marvel rivals has potential to never let that happen, but I don’t think any game ever can do what overwatch did in its prime when the developers actually understood what made overwatch, overwatch, no game is close to that. But I agree I think people shouldn’t fight and strive for the games to be as best as possible. I think that’s the best outcome
@@FelonOWI had the same sentiments despite how advocated for 6v6 I didn’t even play the test yet. I think it might be too late for me, but I do heard it’s good which is a nice thing. I’ve been loving marvel rivals my favorite hero since I was a kid was always magik so I’m very happy she’s in the game, she is tricky to play but she’s super satisfying
@@uzuvibe5420 yup we also have to take into account that rivals took a lot of bad lessons overwatch learned and fixed them before the game released. Ill always love OW but rivals is too fun rn. Kinda shitty they decided to do the 6v6 playtest right when rivals dropped because its going to skew the data they can get from the playtest. Keep on dropping those portal demons and enjoying magik !
i played overwatch for 3 months , quit 2 months ago. tried marvel rivals and its objectively worse. the movement is slower aiming in rivals is much easier and characters like cloak and dagger have homing kunais the skill expression is very low. ults are a 1 button pentakill, hitboxes and ping(massive ping spikes) are janky like if you are low hp you die through shields and walls. Too many voice lines play all the time and the agent balance is so bad just wait until people realise how broken it is and how un-balanceable the agent kits are. The game isnt optimised well I have a 7950x and 4080 and cant play the game at 240 fps at 4k for a free online shooter that means you need to upgrade to have a decent time in that game.
Rivals is great, I’m having a lot of fun with friends but I’m still playing overwatch and liking that too and as we know competition is great because we the players are the ones to come out on top. The most annoying thing is just how the moment you try to say something to an ow hater/rivals purist how they think you’re just fanboying for ow. I don’t get why some people it’s one or the other and not both. Overwatch has been around for nearly a decade and I don’t think it’s shutting down any time soon. I feel like in 4 or 5 years those people will eventually say the same things about rivals that they’re saying about ow now.
I think what one-trick comment guy is getting at is less about him flexing to different characters in their role and more about the different ways you have to think about playing the character you’re on. I feel the exact same way as Queen main adapting to my team 10:05
idk if this is a hot take but i absolutely despise hazard from a character design (visual, not from in-game balance) ) aspect. to me he just doesnt feel cohesive with the rest of the cast and kinda stands out like a black sheep. i cant pinpoint exactly what it is but somethings off. even his voicelines confuse me and when hes picked in my games i feel like disgust from inside out. i compare him to kiriko (insert the 'kiri is a self-insert/a devs oc') yet she feels more like shes supposed to be in the game compared to hazard. any thoughts :p
OW does much better job of showcasing their characters' personalities in the game, than rivals does. rivals obviously has marvel characters many millions know and love, with tons of backstory and lore and personality in the comic books and shows and movies, but they don't do quite as good of a job as OverWatch showcasing it in game. I think the rivals hero interaction voice lines and voice acting and writing is not as good. I realize some of the voice actors themselves are the same, so I guess it's down to the writing and voice directing
Of course they can, i want them to. OW never had a competitor and its shown over the last 3 years. Rivals will finally make them change their behavior or fail.
Response to last "hot take" guy, I don't think MR is overrated but I do think OW still conveys personality a little more uniquely for each character. But I think they only think it's overrated because of the hype for it. Marvels has always had unique characters and fan favorites with it's universe that's been cultivated for decades. OW last few characters lore sucks. But I guess you can say that to any game that gets popular, OW was same way when it started picking up traction. At least Marvels gives OW competition for it's consumer base.
6:55 It's kinda funny because I actually don't play OW that much, like once or twice a month maybe? I just like hearing people disscusing game balance and other stuff in a calm informative manner even if I don't play those games.
14:57 you are comparing movement in 2024 to classic, when no one knew how to play overwatch, even the devs didn't know what was going to be out of this game. Now compare 2024 movement to 2019 movement. The game was way more fluid, it was more about timing of the game rather than solely timing of abilities. Now every hero has over the top movement abilities. Out of 18 dps we've got in this game, only 3 cannot counter a well timed Lucio boop. Overwatch 1 played like a shooter, Overwatch 2 plays like OSU
Rivals is only competition to Overwatch if Rivals decides to make the game terrible & cater to the competitive crowd. Otherwise, the competitive crowd will just move on/back to other games.
if you trashtalk overwatch you will get more views - just simple as that Which Heroes have more personality and uniqueness ingame? Not in comics, movies or something else - Overwatch or Rivals?
Yes because most people play a hero-shooter for the personalities of the characters they play, and NOT how fun and interesting the gameplay is... I swear people will say literally anything to defend the pile of hot mess OW has become...
@@daphknee626 i will disagree cause i dont think ppl are playing hog or orisa for the personality... maybe mauga actually. But which Game tells you more during the game? Which game has more character interactions? Overwatch or marvel? Marvel need to have several movies to have personalities, Overwatch needed cinematics and ingame lore. OW still better than marvel - and thats my personal view
Hot Take: The monthly balance changes are too much for the average player to keep track of. Someone who plays and enjoys a hero(s) may be completely confused when their hero(s) are rebalanced/reworked as they are not watching videos or reading patch notes. Not everyone is hooked into the nitty gritty of this game and it feels like Blizzard does a poor job communicating to everyone large changes to heros if they don't go out of their way to find out these things
You weren't there when they didn't release patches months at a time in OW1. People would get so mad because they played the exact same game for months. Trust me, you want those monthly balances.
@nurikkulanbaev3628 not just Kiriko. Baptiste, Ana, Juno and Lifeweaver are into the mix. Every support has the no brain, no skill, no risk and extreme value reward button and Thats why playing tank is so miserable. consider this: you have to walk into 5, tank and make Space, you have only a boomerang projectile very aim dependent and a close axe hit. you gathered ALL your ultimate, had to find the perfect moment just to your rampage gets NULIFIED by a 10s cooldown random skill that makes everyone immortal and imune without taking ANY risk or requesting ANY skill to do It. the supports are the root of EVERY SINGLE problem in this game and blizzard is naive enough to think just some numbers adjustments will balance the game.

@@salinaember9527of course, overwatch players were the ones hyping the game up. Rivals entered a scene that was controlled purely by overwatch for a while, but this is still childish. Initial stupidity doesn’t warrant being incredibly annoying under every overwatch post.
@@Jidom_101 Ik pretty positive the first time I heard about marvel rivals was when the original trailer came out and a bunch of overwatch players were saying
It looks like a mobile game
Everything looks so bad and unbalanced
It's by netease it's gonna be horrible.
Etc.
People still say this stuff btw
It blows my mind how many people who clearly don't play Overwatch want to see it crumble. The Honeymoon phase of Marvel rivals will end in a couple of months and then you'll see more clearly the merits and blatant faults of both titles.
Agreed
@@bakad5458Bravo this guy gets it 👏🏻
Just started playing Rivals last night and it's much slower with not as much depth as OW (from what I can tell so far). It's got some cool heroes but also a mostly dps roster just like OW lol. Supposedly it's got better monetization than OW but as a game itself I don't get the hype.
@@RacingSnails64it doesn’t have better monetization it’s the same as ow, people are just glazing
Careful, Marvel glazers can sense Overwatch content 100 miles away
Because they are jaded overwatch players who don't get enough attention in real life so they are trying to get attention from daddy blizzard, which will never happen.
Marvel rivals is the best thing for overwatch players because competition leads to better experiences.
@@superhero6502 If you're looking for a youtube streamer that enjoys overwatch and covers overwatch I suggest masteriangamer
Love how you name flats but not eemong or karq, people who play with him all the time and give similar insights.
Yes, I agreed at first with the hot take, but that was enough for me to turn, Karq made an excellent point
I would assume it'd work by making the first team's time the timer limit for team two. So if you don't beat it as fast as them, you'd fail.
It’s more of a hero brawler and the fps players won’t stick with it for the long run.
you're right. it has more of the moba market. which aint a bad thing.
I'm not a Marvel Rivals stan but I disagree about the hitboxes. I find it very challenging to hit shots and I'm a pretty good diamond Ashe on Overwatch.
@@burtreynolds7746yeah there’s a lot of movement in the game and some characters have small hit boxes + lots of sustain
Its in the "fighter" category on Twitch
I don't like marvel rivals for the simple reason that it doesn't allow my hybrid controls. Accessibility should not be optional in game development and is one of the reasons I have stuck with overwatch. I might have loved rivals but i will never find out unless they add the option.
Peopl are forgeting why double shields was annoying asf ... 1: 2cp 2: orisas shield shape 3: Brigitte bastiin and bap .... all of those problems basically did get addressed or changed but now we have juno and kuri that give teams more value from diving
why can't 2 goats coexist😞
you main kiriko you have no say in this
@@Youthatreadwrong-w8ibeing a kiri simp and a kiri main isn't synonymous
For example: Starlord may be the Tracer of Rivals, but there's also nothing like Moon Knight in OW
Overwatch itself wouldn't exist as it does if the devs didn't take inspiration from TF2 for many aspects of the game's overall design, style, and gameplay.
I think the OW vs Rivals discord will die down after a few more weeks. Shit got old even during the beta phase.
Overwatch v Rivals is just TF2 v OW all over again
With TF2 still chugging along
Whichever one I'm playing at the moment kinda just depends on what hero I'm in the mood for
For widow the issue is holding the shot until you peek. Do like zen where it autofires after a time. Then widow must time her charge up
Let’s not
@ why? She’s the only hero that can hold a full charge. The removed it from zen because it was too powerful
@@somaraparicio3537Hanzo also can one shot and hold a full charge. Thry should add this to Hanzo, as keeping a bow like this is pretty much physically impossible
@@somaraparicio3537it would probably feel kind of janky but it would be an interesting idea for testing
@ zen is weak af rn give it back to him. Also just do what marvel rivals does and make it to where it only charges if you aim at someone
Also it will help her deal with widow better than her current version.
ngl TQQ cooked with some of their changes in that mode
i dont think marvel rivals have boring characters, however personally i prefer overwatch because they're crafted to fit into the game and world they've built, rivals has different characters coming from different universes. personally am just tired of the multiverse trope atp but i still love both games, just prefer ow world and characters
rivals players in ow content comments are soooooooo annoying
15:48 Hot Take: this might be where marvel rivals lack where overwatch thrives. They aren't original characters, they're stuck to their identity from the comics/movies, so there will only be so much to work with. Not saying that can't be fun, but if you already know a ton about a certain character, then it might get boring quickly. Meanwhile overwatch has fully original characters with certain homage to different play styles
Yeah, buddy that's an awful take lol. Very very hot take
@batofkrypton9765 lol "buddy" 🤌
mid take: I agree with the direction youd like them to change widow, Specially from the lens of someone who has played TF2, Where a few years ago we had bot issues and Sniper, a character who functions very similarly to widowmaker, was the hottest topic as a class, The difference that OW Lacks and I think could use is when in tf2 you Fully charge a shot, your opponents can see a red dot where you are aiming, I think that + adding some sort of shake when getting chipped could help the overall situation.
But why would you want it to be the same? Play both and see them as unique experiences.
Hot take: Lucio's music should change to Eurobeat or happy hardcore if he gets nano boosted, it will encourage Lucios to want the nano more
I'm a Brig OTP since OW2 S6 and played her now for more than 800h.
Did you ever play 2018 brig? 💀

@fudodgaming oh, you thought I was implying that Brig still is OP, hell nah she's good but not broken
There are free skins in val, they're just ass and only for handguns
@benkai9921 handguns, and those skins take forever to get. I was moreso talking about guns you mostly use like Vandal or Phantom.
Hot take: Marvel rivals will make the devs get off their asses and stop giving as skins as “content”
the millionth time ive heard this take
What is Rivals doing differently ? It's pretty clear from their first events and all the leaks that they will release tons of skins.
@@rubenimmanuel9339 Game itself is already miles better. Monetizationwise, MR isnt any better. The same shit with Marvel skins
A rival game appearing on the market also offering only skins as content isn't going to do that. Marvel Rivals is just solidifying that in this genre the skins are the content. At best you can expect more free skins, more effort in the collabs, and perhaps more lucrative offers.
I think the take about balance is o
pretty spot on, even very miror changes can catapult certain heroes into meta. Remmeber that 0.5 damage increase on Tracer and she was literally picked every game. Also the fact most heores are perfectly viable untill very high ranks is another sign of great balance.
I laughed at the hot take saying Overwatch is one of the more balanced AAA titles 😂
I laughed even harder at the mobility movement one in ow classic.
Give Bastion his tank mode back as an ult. Adjust artillery modes power & throw it on his empty button.
Overwatch has WAY more uniqueness. Not a hot take
4:00 Widow already has to take time to charge her shot they could take a little "inspiration" from Hawkeye and apply that to Widow.
Likely, mobility creep feeling good to you is based out of the level you play at.
Hopefully it'd be a QOL change if anything.
bring widow back to 175 health
Hot take: People dont hate kiriko because of her warsrobe. They just hate that instead of a hero skin for another heroes, they just get the same characters getting a skin and people didnt want to play a character they main just having a basic default skin which made them feel like they do not stand out and having rhe same character especially kiriko skin, just make them feel like they dont get any validation unless they play that hero well
I love the long hybrid fights
I miss holding a support and/or dps in their spawn with sombra… (quick play only)
I did it in comp. Whatever lets me win
Hot take: Unlike what most people predict, 6v6 will end up becoming the main format for OW2 and 5v5 will slowly fade out of existence
Would be the best outcome fr
@@Shortstop803 I feel like rivals success will open their eyes - 5v5 homogenised overwatch making it slower and more like a traditional shooter, it took the sauce out the game, where rivals has that fun chaotic nature
So far I’ve actually had better queue times in 6v6 Overwatch, but not only that, it’s just so much more fun!
I really really hope they swallow their pride and bring it back permanently 😭
If it does we still won’t have 2 tanks, even if this is the whole point of most whiners, they’ll keep being OTP genjis and get mad about queues
You may have better experience in 6v6 as you play as a group. As a solo queue player I will stick to 5v5 until end of days.
7:22 I agree. Just move on. Dont be childish
My hot take is that even if marvel rivals didn't come into the picture, overwatch's player numbers would still be taking a nosedive.
The game ain't fun anymore for a lot of people.
5:37 Look at the amount of TOP500 Lucio's vs. Kiri, Tada
0:25 HE MEANS FROM THE COMBINED TEAM, NOT JUST THE ROLE!!! EVERYTIME YOU SEE DPS YOU THINK ABOUT THE ROLE, BUT WE MEAN ACTUAL DAMAGE FROM THE TEAM!
Where can I find your Rivals content?
I feel like a lot of comp matches last too long. I start to feel exhausted after just a few games. So I mainly stick to QP
I really like Frogger's end-season retrospective videos for this reason cause he just gives his honest thoughts and it's so refreshing to watch
tl;dr I think it'd be healthier if people spent a little time to think about even just 3 things they like from a new update, instead of getting so caught up in hate/criticism that they don't actually voice what they do enjoy
Bring me back to the glory days of foing 10-11 on King's Row 😩
What ppl cannot deny is that streamer and ppl in general are having so much fun in these few days with rivals that overwatch have brought in these last 4 to 5 years, like super is really excited playing wolverine, and wanted looks actually really happy in his streams, like a bunch of other streamers/gamers i think rivals its good for overwatch in a manner that they cam use this to be better, but they already lost a bunch of people that were tired of begging for fixes and upgrades for this game for years and years.
Hot take: flashpoint is fun, the annoying part is that the first point is always the same
That MapleStory omega sector BGM going hard
Well yeah, the same as OW and Paladins existing separately.
Loved your comments thank you

i mean if a otp doesn't synergize with you because you only play 1 or 2 heroes... you're a two trick, you don't really have the right to complain that someone else is a one trick. if the enemy team is more flexible than you then they should be rewarded
I for one am waiting for Marvel Rivals to last 6 more years. Overwatch has at least shown longevity from its community pleading for consistency with the IP. Marvel has anything BUT a consistent legacy to 90% of folk.
KarQ, what was your favorite season for play (between OW & OW2)
@@uzuvibe5420 yup we also have to take into account that rivals took a lot of bad lessons overwatch learned and fixed them before the game released. Ill always love OW but rivals is too fun rn. i played overwatch for 3 months , quit 2 months ago. tried marvel rivals and its objectively worse. the movement is slower aiming in rivals is much easier and characters like cloak and dagger have homing kunais the skill expression is very low. ults are a 1 button pentakill, hitboxes and ping(massive ping spikes) are janky like if you are low hp you die through shields and walls.
I would steal how payload works in rivals for ow
How is it different?
@nurikkulanbaev3628 basically you cap it and then it moves by itself albeit at a slower pace than if someone was on it but it's just better for flow.
We have 8 chat options, why cant we have 8 emote options
To compare the two games is a fools errand. It's just popular and Hella cringe to hate on Overwatch.
I think what one-trick comment guy is getting at is less about him flexing to different characters in their role and more about the different ways you have to think about playing the character you’re on. I feel the exact same way as Queen main adapting to my team 10:05
suggestion: please let us skip highlight intros when viewing them back
Hot take: buff genji
I’m lowkey seeing some people put him at S tier and A tier for hero tier list (big content creator coaches)
Blizzard: "did you say nerf genji"
Rivals is not as good as OW stop the glaze and stop the cap. Why do yall want it to be good so bad??
idk if this is a hot take but i absolutely despise hazard from a character design (visual, not from in-game balance) ) aspect. to me he just doesnt feel cohesive with the rest of the cast and kinda stands out like a black sheep. i cant pinpoint exactly what it is but somethings off. even his voicelines confuse me and when hes picked in my games i feel like disgust from inside out. i compare him to kiriko (insert the 'kiri is a self-insert/a devs oc') yet she feels more like shes supposed to be in the game compared to hazard. any thoughts :p
Well I think that's the point marvel characters aren't unique. They're marvel characters.
I’m tired of hearing about Widow in both KarQ’s hot take and suggestion box videos
Bold to say marvel characters are unique when half of them are DC copies
Rivals is only competition to Overwatch if Rivals decides to make the game terrible & cater to the competitive crowd. Otherwise, the competitive crowd will just move on/back to other games.
The "competitive crowd" grows around literally any game where you play against other players.
Trueeeee sigma mirror is the most fun matchup in the game
Im the thumbnail 💪💪💪
Yeah rivals is trash, but dorks need something to play so that’s good they get something to do to
6:56. That's not a hot take it's facts
“One tricks make the game more fun” Ummmm no
Please post more rivals content 😁
Bruh what is that thumbnail? 🤣
if you trashtalk overwatch you will get more views - just simple as that
Which Heroes have more personality and uniqueness ingame?
Hot Take: The monthly balance changes are
too much for the average player to keep track
of. Someone who plays and enjoys a hero(s)
may be completely confused when their
hero(s) are rebalanced/reworked as they are
not watching videos or reading patch notes.
Not everyone is hooked into the nitty gritty of
this game and it feels like Blizzard does a
poor job communicating to everyone large
changes to heros if they don't go out of their
way to find out these things
You weren't there when they didn't release patches months at a time in OW1. People would get so mad because they played the exact same game for months. Trust me, you want those monthly balances.
the average player isn't keeping track of balance patches
@@MarinaInChains That's why they go to streamers to look at balance changes and they give their take whether it's good or not.
Yeah yeah yeah, but were i can find more rivals content from you.
the mobility creep is REALLY what made overwatch 2 a worse version of overwatch
Mobility is okay. I think Kiriko herself is the biggest problem
@NotRealyInterested Ana is okay, same as Juno. Its Kiriko and Batiste(and Moira) are the problems
