Hey Eric, being a tech also, I just had to tell you that this was a great tutorial! So full of great valuable information and I thank you for sharing. As mechanics, we should always be trying to help each other out and share information with each other and you always seem to do that! I hope you and your family are well. Peace and blessings from Toronto Canada. 👍🏼👌🏼
I can't imagine a more perfect instructional video. There damn well better be a special place in Heaven for someone like you who has taken so much time and effort to inform the rest of us how to fix a problem vehicle. My 2007 Honda Odyssey has taught me to never buy such a new vehicle again. It's back in time for me with vehicles that aren't so computer controlled with a thousand sensors. Talk about over-engineering. At 78, I can remember a time when everyone could work on their cars and trucks in their backyards. That was long, long ago in the Before Time.
Thanks. Most long repair videos contain guys who talk too much and circle around the same material. THIS video is packed with information and hard-won knowledge. Every second of the video was useful. Thanks again!
Woooww... I don't have a car... but this is so informative and detailed... really appreciate this guy explaining and recording these steps for average people... 👍🏼👍🏼
Love how thorough you are on explaining stuff. I am a do-it myself. LOL and I've looked and looked to fix this problem for months and could not find any pics. Then I come across your video and phone behold less than 30 seconds later my problem is fixed. Thank you so much. I liked and subscribed
I had run across the same thing with a 2004 Accord. I'd just bought the new launch and tried it out on my wife's car, found a code in ABS module, light wasn't on but decided to clear code . Next stat had ABS and VSA lights on with code stored, I thought it was an issue with the Launch software. I found the fix was the same as what you described here. Good job, you would think something this old we would have seen it before, goes to show there's always more to learn.
This was a very informative video with information that would be hard to acquire. Great detective work and you did a great job in the manual clearing out of the two codes. Keep up the good work!
I have an 06 Acura RL with the same problem. I’ve done the short pins 4 & 9 trick to put out the VSA light but the VSA activation “!” mark stays on. Then at 30 mph the VSA light comes back on. This all started when I ran a whole car code check. I’ve tried the other trick where you ground pin 9 and push the VSA button but for some reason, it’s not working (although it did three years ago when I had the same problem). I’m going to try this method soon. I hope it works. It’s really a shame Acura doesn’t have the knowledge to fix this without charging me hour after hour of service tech time while they “try” ti find this (known) problem. Thank you so much for the excellent tutorial.
That was a really good one!! U really went the extra mile and did a lot of research to get those lights off. Now we will know what to do if we have that code. Thank u!!
Have VSA, ABS and yellow triangle exclamation point lights on in 2002 Acura RL, after mechanic installed R/S control valve. To record procedure, pause recording and write down, then depress play/pause to continue to note/write procedures.
Was dealing with this very same issue this weekend, it had another tech going bonkers thinking he broke the customers car. Now we can get this thing fixed.
i'm just a diy'er so i learned something important today, got to do your research. it does remind me of the stand-alone microprocessors in '80s and '90s before my instruments were windows controlled. thanks for the lessons.
Lol. The way i wound up here was by looking up a vsa/abs issue for my 04 TL and although i did not find an answer here, the video was so engaging i decided to stay and find out how you made out. Needless to say i was not disappointed, you have lots of patience, drive and determination. You took on the problem head on, did not give up where others did, and you won this battle, brother! So kudos to you! I bet it felt great :)
Eric, good video thanks for sharing. A lot of money for two scan tool and neither one could solve the problems even though the scan tool could recognize the issues. Thanks again for showing. If you posted the resets I will copy and save.❤️
Amazing video my friend! Clear, precise, and to the point. Very informative and easily understandable. My hat is off to you good sir. May have just saved me hours of pounding my head against the wall. Thank you.
Great Work Job Well Done. This is what makes Great Mechanics.. one thing that was overlooked by alot of us is you said you would put a link in the description to the 2en half of manual repair process and I don't see it. Could you kindly do that for us Home Repair Techie's whom don't have the money resources a lot of licensed mechanics have. Thanks again very informative you guys are very helpful. Rich F
Resetting the SAS and ABS lights after repair on many Hondas is a pain. I have found many models that manual reset is the only way. I have found that the Bosch 1350 series has a great reset program for the Hondas. I have reset many for other shops that couldn't with their expensive tools and the $300.00 Bosch was able to do it. Hsving multiple scan tools is a must if you are going to be an Independent that works on many Makes.
Really Cool, easy to follow your instructions, thanks for your time and knowledge.Aldo from Australia Brisbane.I am working on a Legend 2007 I believe the procedure will work, thanks again.
Damn, glad you spent the time figuring that out, I hate the older stuff. Mitsubishi has to be the worst. But this is up there as far as time spent to figure things out!!!!!
I don't care what anybody say I appreciate you I didn't have this problem that's not to say it couldn't occur because I do have an Acura tl the same year
Thanks for the tip. I might be the only one that likes my verus pro over my autel. I just feel it's more friendly user but maybe that's just me. I'll might you need both and more if you own a shop because your absolutely right. One scan tool does something the others don't and vice versa.
Thanks. I was looking for some info on how to reset the VSA for an Acura ILX 2016. Right after replacing its dead battery I had a christmas light of warning lights coming up on the dashboard. It could only come from messing around with the electrical connections to the computer in my opinion. So I'll clean up the terminals from corosion, grease them and tighten them up. And if this doesn't clear all the codes, then i'll try to clear the codes with an OBD scanner, if not I'll get a mechanic to do it if it's too convoluted.
I got a tl style and haven't found that blue connector yet and have the glove box removed. Just curious if the 03 tl Acura has a different colored connector instead of the blue?
Eric,Thanks for information but I have Acura 04 tl look underneath gloves box look for blue connection i don't see it can you help me with problems please
You are a smart guy .That was a hand full .Well done.Question ,why do people leave their cars with almost no fuel in the tank ..? I see this on other channels ,Often you might need to leave the car running ,or take it for a test drive .Cheers.
I checked w scan tool and no codes so VSA light is just “stuck on”. No faults in ABS subsystem. VSA switch is good. Cleared all codes electronically. Ran your procedure. Everything worked as in video. VSA light is still on.Any suggestions? 2000 3.5 RL.
Nice job Eric just goes to show how spoiled we are with today’s tech. Paul Danner has to do something similar on his kids celica. I don’t miss those cars lol
Great detective work! I have another one for you. You may have seen this too and have some recommendations. I have 2004 accord LX with only 55000 miles and ABS lights ON. I have searched and followed some instructions online without success. Fuses under the hood are fine. The brake oil level is fine. I tried resetting by connecting pins 4 and 9 per the other site's suggestions but no luck. Light flashes twice as expected but stays on (solid). Have used a narrowed meter and taken to multiple parts shops for an error scan and all said no error was generated and ABS is working fine. Their screen shows a green check mark for ABS indicating working fine. The car runs great and everything seems to be working including the brakes. The car is hardly driven and mostly stayed in the garage hence the low mileage. Any idea what to try next?
A video on the left rear speed sensor install would be cool. I've been driving my 1999 RL for the last 2 years by overriding the TCS (switch off TCS button after start up) because it won't accelerate past 5MPH when turning. Codes for 1999 Acura RL driver rear speed sensor: ABS "1-7" and TCS "4-8" These 99 RL sensors are pricey btw! (make sure you buy the correct year...they vary)
let me tell you. I am 57 have been selling tools for 35 years. This guy is bad bad ass.

Thank you!
I found this very interesting in that the scan tool gave wrong information, instead of no information. Thank you for sharing.
Woooww... I don't have a car... but this is so informative and detailed... really appreciate this guy explaining and recording these steps for average people... 👍🏼👍🏼
This video has saved me thousands probably between the dealer and the mechanic. Thank you so very much!!
WOW!! Thank you, sir! I've spents many, ,many hours hassling over my errant VSA light. I am so glad I stumbled across your excellent video!
Love how thorough you are on explaining stuff. I am a do-it myself. LOL and I've looked and looked to fix this problem for months and could not find any pics. Then I come across your video and phone behold less than 30 seconds later my problem is fixed. Thank you so much. I liked and subscribed
The video was good no bull crap all knowledge you explained it very well thank you I look

Holy Cow ! Your are beyond the word EXCEPTIONAL ! Thank you so very much for taking the time to post this video, you’ve restored my faith in others !
189,000 miles on the clock, and that puppy fired right up. I love Acuras.

Uou are the best technicians ever , my hat off /respect
THANK YOU!! Spent forever trying to find a solution to this. You kick some major ass
You’re the best tried 3 times I finally got it right. Worked like a charm you saved me big money. Thanks Eric
God bless you brother helping a lot of people like me.
Thanks for sharing Bro👍 Awesome Fix
Can't believe why the MaxiSys couldn't perform this procedure
It's a software/programming issue within the vehicle itself.
Eric - Great job on what must have been a frustrating issue
That was a really good one!! U really went the extra mile and did a lot of research to get those lights off. Now we will know what to do if we have that code. Thank u!!
Thank You for SHARING, you are an awesome Mechanic, have a wonderful day!!
Wow excellent video. You show every time that studying the case and searching for solutions pays off. Thanks. 👍

This video that you just did it was awesome and they way you explained was simple you should be a technical proffesor keep up the good work
Great video! I've been an member of IATN as well for many years. Always like Tim Mitchell's advice. He is sharp as a tack
i'm just a diy'er so i learned something important today, got to do your research. it does remind me of the stand-alone microprocessors in '80s and '90s before my instruments were windows controlled. thanks for the lessons.

This was a money destroyer if you leave the car to the wrong shop good work.
I'm Glad they had you to figure this one out. WOW! Great job Eric..
Man you saved my ass thank you so much not many people work on the 96-04 RL/legend it is like obd1 diagnoses
Eric, good video thanks for sharing. A lot of money for two scan tool and neither one could solve the problems even though the scan tool could recognize the issues. Thanks again for showing. If you posted the resets I will copy and save.❤️
Was able to clear ABS and VSA easily. Thanks much.
Te la rifaste con este video! Mis respetos Viejo. Thanks bro.
Thanks! This is not enough as you saved me hundreds if not more but I do appreciate you!
Amazing video my friend! Clear, precise, and to the point. Very informative and easily understandable. My hat is off to you good sir. May have just saved me hours of pounding my head against the wall. Thank you.
Worked perfectly, this light was driving me crazy trying to get it to go off 👍
Great explanation and video, very informative, I will try this on my 2003 Acura MDX.
your the truth son! I've always found acuras to be a headache for some mechanics.
Never worked on one of these, but sure your video will save many techs HOURS of frustration research and or failures. Excellent work!
Yes! Hopefully!

Good morning family. Thank you very much for the valuable information and your time 👍👍💯
Amazing analytical mind, congrats on a informative video. Keeping Aussie's in the game. Thanks heaps
Amazing job! I hope Honda fixed this software issue so you can use a scan tool to perform this operation.

I already saw a few computer parts cannon being loaded in the other shop !!! lol great job Eric!!!
I don't care what anybody say I appreciate you I didn't have this problem that's not to say it couldn't occur because I do have an Acura tl the same year
Searched for the downloadable procedure in the description that you mentioned, could not find it. Nonetheless, great, informative video!
Awesome Job.
Research is everything
Good Job. This is one reason why I stay away from Honda and Acura products.

Very cool, just helped me out a lot.
thanks a lot. Everything worked out
ahhhhh! thanks so much eric!
I certainly hope they've simplified this procedure in newer gen vehicles. That was pretty elaborate. 1st gen OBD2 procedure?
Outstanding Job !!
Very Informative.
Really nice job...well done.
printable 84-1 procedure ?
Plz help. My VSA, ABS and BRAKE light are on. ACURA TL 2005.
Great info. Thanks
Thanks so much for the education
Thanks for your video. Great jobs. Will these procedures applied to my 06 CRV,too? Mine has those lights on.
07 pilot same issue
You are my hero
Very Helpful .. Thank you :D
Very informative.. Great video
perfect! thank you!

I went to car wash and came back with all these light on, engine light, steering, brake and Abs and vsa and tire pressure blinking!
I love your videos!!! you are good!!
