An egg is not a bird but if I steal the eggs of an endangered bird I can be thrown in prison. This "it's not a baby yet, it's just a clump of cells," is such a crock. We value birds more than babies.

Eggs may well contain birds. That argument is absurd because the egg is nonliving matter that the bird uses to help them survive.
The analogue would be saying “is your hair a person?! No?! well since you’re under some hair you can’t be a person!”

Long before I accepted Christ and became a christian I got pregnant, I was unmarried and the father was not someone I would want to raise my child (not a good guy if you get what I'm saying) and he didn't want to anyways, my boss at the time tried to pressure me into having an abortion, I thought about it but never did, I couldn't bring myself to even though the thought of having and taking care of a child on my own at 23 was scary, 8 years later I have the most AMAZING, loving, kind, smart son who is on fire for the Lord, and I'm married to a man who loves him just like his own. I believe the Lord, knowing I would come to him, was already there with me, helping me to be strong and make the right choice. The thought that it would have been so easy to go through with an abortion and this amazing child I have could have never had the chance to even LIVE haunts me, because I know how many DON'T get the chance and it breaks my heart!

I was alone and not following Christ as I should, but still prayed. I've been married to the father now for 33 years. Initially he didn't want to get married but he changed because I believe God worked on him. Btw.....this was my first child and I was in the Navy serving in Scotland. 1980s no Government support for single motherhood!

@@KM-zn3lx hello sister! We are not alone, there are SO many young single mothers who choose to do the right thing, and keeping it and raising it yourself aren't even the only options, this is why I have ZERO understanding for those who choose abortion, if you don't think you CAN take care of it is not difficult to give your baby up for adoption, there are SO many loving people out there who would do anything to take care of raise your baby as their own. There really is no reason for abortion unless the mother's life is truly in danger and it's too early for the baby to survive outside the womb, that is the ONLY reason I can see for abortion, if the pregnancy will end in death of BOTH the baby and mother.

First our hearts break for the baby, always.
Let's not forget those women who've had abortions and have repented and struggle with it daily. I received a heart wrenching message (under an abortion video I made) from a woman who is a repentant Follower of Christ and seeking comfort in fellowship as she stated: "I can't let it go."
Those are the often forgotten survivors in the abortion debate. Let's remember these women and always know that "none are righteous, no, not (even) one." We're all in the same boat together.

Honestly, that's what I thought maybe the artist wanted to convey - not that Christ condoned the abortion but that he would be with the woman through the hard times afterwards as she dealt with guilt etc... but knowing she wouldn't engage with Mike and others about it decreases the chances for that "best case scenario"

Yes! So many women have had abortions, compassion for them needs to be at the forefront of the pro life movement. A lot of them were pressured into it, lied to and so on. How many of us have only made good choices especially under duress.

    • @VictorianMetalGirl
      @VictorianMetalGirl 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@sharroon7574 It's always been my dream to be a mother. I asked God to help me not be so angry at women who have had abortions. I actually had a dream about a woman who was in an abusive relationship, got an abortion and thought she was getting on with her life peacefully. (She was knocked out for the procedure and had no idea what happened. I was outside the building, hearing her thoughts.) She was at peace, or so she thought. There was a dark cloud looming over her conscience and she was sad but "ok for now". Then she was on the couch and I was sitting next to her (as if we're on two different wavelengths, or spiritual planes. She was unaware of my presence) watching a kind of documentary. There was a pastor or a rabbi talking about an abortion. The woman, who was very beautiful and innocent, was sobbing, just saying "I'm sorry." to her baby after every detail the man explained. I felt all of this woman's emotions. Ever since then, whenever I get angry at the women who go through this awful procedure, I remember the woman in my dream. Maybe they, like her just didn't know what they did. They too are a victim in this in a different way.

What’s interesting is would this artist do this with Mohammed? Or Buddha? I don’t think so. There is tolerance for all of those beliefs, just not Jesus. And if it is out there, as with this, it is with complete disrespect and twisting Jesus into people’s own imaginations that support their politics. I lived in the NICU for the first 5 months of my life, nearly dying every single day, only to go home a week or so after my due date with heart monitors and still ventilated. I am here because my God wants me here, because He gave me life.
I have had people tell me to my face before they know my birth story that abortion should be legalized until at *least* 24 weeks due to brain development, etc. & they never have an answer when I ask them if they believe, then, that I should be dead because I am here when “scientifically” I shouldn’t be. They never have a real answer as to whether my mom & the NICU team should have just left me and my twin sister to die because are still alive & neuro-typical.

There are a few voices opposing abortion, but even most denominations do not speak on the topic. It´s not that they agree with it, it´s that they will not even talk about it, for fear of pushing people away.
There are more people in the swedish christian sphere that pushes for us working together as a church against climate change than to save babies from death.

Disturbing story from South Bend, Indiana (winter, 2019) - After the death of a doctor who performed legal abortions throughout NW Indiana and NE Illinois, 2,500 medically preserved remains of aborted fetuses were discovered at the garage at his home and elsewhere among his belongings. It was interesting to hear the uproar of protest and criticism from abortion supporters who somehow found this admittedly horrible collection to be immoral. It was as if the preserved remains deserved more respect and honor than the living babies who were killed. Moreover, it was considered an affront to the mothers who had sought to eliminate the evidence of their actions. It’s as if they were suggesting that it is better to destroy and discard the unwanted ‘tissue’ than to preserve it. By what moral measure does this make any sense at all?
The abortion supporters seemed to be saying that mothers had a right to deprive an unborn child of the gift of life, yet society should excoriate the reputation of the man who failed to properly dispose of the lifeless remains. Very troubling scenario from many perspectives.

Funny, why should they care about these babies, they're just "lumps of cells" right?? Who cares if a doctor kept "lumps of cells" in jars? lol, they don't believe that for one second. I've even heard some anti-lifers say "Okay, it is a life, but it's the mother's right to terminate it!"
There's only two types of people who support abortions... The ignorant, and the psychopaths.

Once a week I drive past a packed abortion clinic to serve at our local pregnancy center educating, counseling, doing ultrasounds, pregnancy tests, and TRULY supporting women. 99% are so deceived. They literally have no idea the reality of abortion and are shocked when we gently inform them (using unbiased procedure information from a government website). Such evil. Breaks my heart and makes me thank God he saved me from this evil and destruction of not just my baby but I’m sure it would have destroyed me as well.

  • @JB---

"a clump of cells" shocks me because I remember when the uterus was a "black box" that we couldn't see the inside of, and even then, everybody who knew where babies come from knew that life begins at conception. When I was a kid, I saw the "pickled babies" at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago - gross but also fascinating. They were aborted fetuses (naturally aborted, because something went wrong with the baby or the mother's body). The really cool thing was to see how complete the baby was within days and weeks of conception. The idea that life does not begin at conception is a new one, created to defend the industry of abortion and to promote promiscuity without consequences. The idea that we don't know when life begins, or that individuals can decide at what age a baby magically starts to be a human being or a person, is a ridiculous retrograde on science.

Up front I am pro life 100%. I've worked on crisis pregnancy hotlines and it's riddled with illogical broken thought processes of belief in the person who is considering abortion.
As a Christian I often hear what was said here... a belief that aborted babies are in heaven with Jesus. I cling to this belief as well.
But that belief can sure make it difficult when trying to convince women who have experienced abuse to consider having their babies.
So often you hear girls and women in a crisis pregnancy situation say at least their baby would be with Jesus if she aborted instead of ... fill in the blank with their own suffering experience of life.
It is difficult to convince these women God will provide for them and their baby if they just trust in Him. They look at you like what world do you live in lady cause it's not my world. Sigh 😞
When pressed to reconsider and that you can help them change their life and make a better life for their child they will often say something like "I messed up but I don't want my baby to pay for my stupid mistake of getting pregnant and have to live in this world".
It's heartbreaking 💔 It's just the way it is.
Sometimes you simply pray over them that Jesus will intervene and open their eyes to believing and knowing that good can come from choosing to have this child.
You pray that this choice for life will be the turning point in their life and ask God to send people into their life to love and provide for her and her baby.
It's amazing how that one belief that the aborted babies go straight to heaven can be the lifeline of justification that they want good for their baby and they are saving it from a horrible world.
Mental and emotional gymnastics of a desperate person.

Part of the problem here is varying moral systems - sympathy-based morality and justice-based morality (see also Kohlberg vs Gilligan).
The problem with a sympathy-based morality is that it all depends on where the sympathy is focused. Under such a system it makes sense that arguments would largely consist of sympathy pleas for one party and calloused, detached (or hostile) framing of any competing interest.

The thing is, I'm totally happy to respond to comments and have an open discussion. I don't censor and don't delete people's comments even if I don't agree, instead I simply tell them why I disagree. But the thing I was confused about was people would leave their comment and then immediately block me. It was like they didn't even want to have a discussion. Thanks Mike and other contributors to the discussion. All humans have value due to our creation by God in His likeness and image. Genesis 1:27. All murderers must first believe that their value (and therefore rights) are of a higher level than those of their victim. The abortion culture assumes the existence and inevitability of large numbers of unplanned pregnancies. Why is this? It's not as if we do not know how human life begins. It is not that we believe babies come into our lives without free choice on the part of at least one of the parents. Conception is certainly not the choice of the innocent baby! The apparent inevitability of the need for abortion is based on the assumption that woman have to accept casual sexual unions outside marriage. Let pro choice and pro life contenders agree on this; the devaluing of our sons and daughters has been preceded by the devaluing of women. Before all babies are treasured by our nation, their mothers must be treasured. The measure of success will be the value that our men place on the wives and mothers of our nation (both actual and potential). Come on guys. Our part in this is important.

    1 Timothy 4:1-2
"The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron."
The above verses can be applied to those teaching and believing the Pro Choice dogma. Their consciences are seared so that they lose their ability to even apply critical thinking on this issue. Any point or argument you make to them will fall on deaf ears. They don't even have "ears to hear." That's why they will block you and shut down any discourse on the issue.
There are some who are not fully indoctrinated who have some part of their conscience on this issue and pointing out your reasoning with them may reach through, but being dogmatic with them will most likely make them dig in their heels. I think it would be better to use gentle and respectful questions to get them to think as they answer the questions. (One question could be one Mike used in the video, "Would you tell a woman who had a miscarriage, 'Don't worry, it was just a fetus, a clump of cells? Why not?
Prayer is needed to reach both groups.
