Some horses actually prefer you show them which brush you’re using, which tool, whatever. They like to be talked to. It helps them know where you are so it’s safer for you. We also had a pony who we’d put kids/inexperienced riders on. Any time they’d start to slip off to one side, he’d stop so they could right themselves. He was also more careful when we had a child with disabilities (balance issues mainly). It was like he knew to be extra cautious with the kid. Pretty sweet

Daytona Says What?! What a surprise, Mr. Nascar-reference thinks scraping a hoof and soaking it in dirty water and epsom salt in a grocery bag and tape, is SURGERY.
You realize even FISH understand and appreciate being cleaned and cared for (think of all the symbiotic relationships between big fish that eat anything in sight, yet ignore the specific species of cleaning fish that exist SOLELY to feast off of their larger friend's infections and parasites)

      LOL. Your reply is funny!!!
Here's something else you might like, Daytona. Growing up Mom, Dad, and our Family raised horses. They are extremely intelligent. I could tell you many stories to verify, however, I will share with you experiences and memories from one of my favorite friends. We had a horse that was a complete smart@$$. If at a creek or a pond, he would knock you into the water and dance around in triumph. He'd safely play tag with the children. And his favorite game was soccer in which he could not only dribble and pass, but he understood the object of the game was to score a goal. His only problem was that he didn't like to share his food, and to me that was what gave him his most human-like characteristic of all.
P.S. Something for you to look forward to: Bambi's Mom will make her long awaited return to the screen in her new role as being one with the force. Disney loves all of mine and Pink's new ideas.

after the abscess breaks how long do you have to wrap the hoof? it's muddy right now in my pasture and I can't stall the horse.

I use to clean and trim their foot. Its like one giant nail. I use to work at a Stable and I can tell you they will do anything for a good trim.

in the past i have used drawing suave and put a baby diaper on then duct tape. baby diapers are really good fit for horse hooves and the tape hold in place and protects for the day as well.
