In my opinion United is definitely the #2 best U.S. airline right behind Delta. Great point about Brussels - Washington, DC being "the most political route on earth", I literally never even thought it of like that 😂

Great VDO, and thanks for this review. I'm reluctant to book their long haul economy class just because all the negative reviews on social media and my friends' personal experience. But this is one of a few recent reviews that show United (probably) have improved.
They have! I wasn’t a big fan myself and avoided them for many years, but in the past year I’ve only had good flights. The IFE is good, planes are new and staff getting friendlier.. Try!
I've flown this route on United a few times (though a lot has changed since then, one trip was pre-merger, so long before their fancy 787's and new 777's) and I must say it looks like they improved a lot since then. And being a little kid who hardly spoke a word of English I appreciated those anouncements very much, though I am probably quite used to hearing things repeated in a couple of languages by now.
United has changed a lot indeed. I used to fly often from Amsterdam to Chicago or Washington on their B767-300ER and that was the memory I had. Cranky cabin crew. But this was the opposite. Incredible aircraft and friendly young spontaneous crew. Thanks for sharing your story!

That looked like a beautiful flight and I love the 777-300er. To answer your question, no I don't mind aircraft noise. I grew up near an airport so it seems very normal to me.
love hearing the sound of GE90 spooling up, it remind me back in the old day when i was fliying Cathay's B747 classic with RR RB211 engines ....inflight meal looks lot better than KLM (no ice cream & pre flight snack) & BA for transatlantic flights. great review !!!

I am on this flight later this summer but honestly I think you enjoyed this flight in part due to the lack of passengers and accompanying noise and crowded conditions in all rows! i am a United fan too.
I love United's economy class, it has a lot of leg room compared with all the others airlines I flew with!. since I flew with them I always choose them again, no matter if I have long layovers on my flight!

Whenever you upload, I know it’s a great day! Loving the epic intro of the United B77W! I must say the United economy product is a solid one, definitely a joy to travel on! For myself, the highlight of your vid was the planespotting (the variety of liveries were endless!) especially coming as a planespotter from Singapore, where every 5 minutes, you see a SQ A359, all the time! I was seated on the wrong side of the plane for optimum spotting in Brussels but oh well, more video’s coming soon! You were a very lucky flyer that day. You got 3 seats for yourself. It's much better than facing forward facing backwards very tight Business Class seats of BA. September 2021 was the start when flights started to normalize. Most people were still apprehensive to fly that's why most flights were half full. Your cheese was the real thing that's why it stinks. Only imitation cheese don't stink. I miss that ice cream they serve in economy. I will ask for that next time I fly United to Europe. Pasta looks good too. If I get a not so good meal in BC, I will ask for economy food or maybe exchange it with somebody. Happy safe travels. Nice video.

Wonderful video. I really enjoy the "flying" comments you make, flaps, ascending etc. I pay attention to things like that. I was surprised the meals looked improved from my last flt on UA. That is a beautiful plane though. That is a very good option for flying to Europe, via Brussels. Seems like the other airports are overwhelmed.

@@TheLayoverAviation for the 15 years I lived in Kinshasa, to go back home to Portugal for the summer we used to fly Brussels airlines to Brussels then take either TAP or Brussels again to Lisbon. Although Air France was better, we did not like transiting in Paris.

You can’t sleep, some were never ending! Then again, none made the cut, I really edited them out. But some were looooong and pointless. There was a long one twice explaining how to transfer in Washington step by step.
I knew I wasn't the only who thought about Brussels as an alternative to Schiphol. The blessings of living in the Schengen zone.🤣 Noise abatement procedures are interesting. For example, consider DXB that has either emirates road or those short buildings on the dubai sharjah road which I used to take to school all those years back. But at LCY for example, it almost flies directly above Canary Wharf and the Shard. Smaller aircraft advantages I guess.
The noise abatement procedures are insane at some places! In Brussels they make very little sense as 3 different parties are involved and not agreeing on anything: The Brussels authority, Flanders and Wallonia, each have their own priorities and political agenda. Brussels is an interesting alternative. I rather spend 2 hours in the train vs 5 hours in line. So stupid, what a tremendous shame.. And as you mentioned TLV.. The next one being editad is some Etihad B787-9 Business towards to your direction🤩 I’m the seat fairy!🧚♀️ I should call myself that. I was going on Brussels Airlines but some days before my secret agent in the US told me “ you want to take United, trust me”, so I did. The rest is history😎 You saved yourself the sector on the A320 from TLV to BRU though.. that must be pretty bad. I’m so afraid of having to film one of those to please some of the people here. I’ve been requested Wizz Air from Dubai, that’s +5 hours in that seat🤯 Anyway, going to continue editing! see you!
The A350 is still quite rare where I live, in Dubai. Few airlines fly it there so I don’t get the chance a lot. I hope to fly it soon! Have a nice flight Shubh!
I think nobody is installing 3-3-3 anymore.. There are some airlines who continue to have it, but those planes were delivered in the better days! But like you, I also prefer it..
When I flew United Airlines long haul all the way from the US to India and back, Economy Class had a 3-3-3 configuration. I think that one is much better than the 3-4-3 configuration on a Boeing 777.
United has two distinctive seat designs in economy on their widebody aircraft. The 767-300ER, 767-400ER, domestic 777-200(ER), 777-300ER, 787-8, and most 787-9s have the older style. The international 777-200ER, a few 787-9s, and all 787-10s have the new design. The main difference is that it has a literature pocket behind the IFE screen, in addition to the main seat back pocket. This is supposed to slightly increase legroom. The Dubai flight is going to be operated by the 777-200ER, so it'll have the new seats.
Don’t sleep 4 hours now, please😅 Just that when you want to achieve whatever goal, all has to be work for a lengthy period of time. And if you have time for 2 hours to watch tv, you also could have had 2 hour to study. But sleep is still important🙂
Another great video keep ,good insight into United .Question I would think Emirates has the best IFE . Brussel use to be a hub for Indian Carrier Jet Airways now that they are back in operations wonder what's next in store for them.
But of course Emirates has the best IFE! United will however be in my top 10, maybe even top 5. True, Jet used Brussels for some years before transferring to Amsterdam. I managed to fly them a few times, top notch quality. I’m looking forward for what’s in store for them, I however am afraid that there are far too many powerful parties lobbying against their growth…
5:50 I remember that UNITED safety demonstration video. They came up with a great concept showing the airplane safety features from different parts of the world, all to the music by the great American composer George Gershwin in the background However iI was surprised to see the final scene of the safety video set in China United is a US carrier. Their hubs are in NewYork, Washington, Chicago and SanFrancisco It would make more sense to finish the safety video from one of these cities instead since all of these cities have iconic landmarks which could’ve been shown in the video Just saying...
I fly with Emirates the most and many flights with them in Economy, Business and even one in First are filmed, just not to Australia😅 The problem is that my job doesn’t really send me there and flights are 100% full most of the time, which is very annoying to film. But as soon as I can, I will!
I think all airlines are a bit strict with the checked bag.. It also depends on your frequent flier tier. Most of the time they won’t be strict if it’s a kg above or so.. I’ve never really had any issue. Customer service on board was great!
I'm making this flight in April. Seat pitch seems nice, as does the service! Can I ask what height you are, because you seem to have ample room in the standard Economy seats.

Of course cheese stinks. Why do you think they call a fart "cutting the cheese". LOL On a serious note great review. A lot of you tubers focus to much on the food and cut the flaps going up and down from the review. To me, as an avgeek, that is the best part of flying. I do not care about the food. Each flight is different. Food could be bad on flight and great the next. Besides I always have an MRE (minus the heater. That would be dangerous) in my carry - on in case i do not like the food.
So do I.. But the same rules apply for me as for you. Cockpits are closed to operating crew only on most flights! Perhaps when the channel grows I can get access to cockpits when airlines grant permission..
That’s what I was thinking! The only minor difference is that you pay for miniature alcohols at United while it’s free at Delta (if nothing has changed in the past months..)
For mega cities I like to include the metro area too. I’ve always lived in an outskirt of a city and said I live in X city. Otherwise now I’m not really living in Dubai either😅
I’ve lived most of my life close to airports or in flight paths so I was always enjoying the planes. Now I live a bit further to have a quiet life but I hope to move near one in the future ❤️ I hope you can do so too!
It was highly likely during a week day, probably a Tuesday, but the trick isn’t only that; I also have an app that shows me available seats for sell on airlines, so I tend to fly only empty planes😁

@@TheLayoverAviation for the 15 years I lived in Kinshasa, to go back home to Portugal for the summer we used to fly Brussels airlines to Brussels then take either TAP or Brussels again to Lisbon. Although Air France was better, we did not like transiting in Paris.

You can’t sleep, some were never ending! Then again, none made the cut, I really edited them out. But some were looooong and pointless. There was a long one twice explaining how to transfer in Washington step by step.
I knew I wasn't the only who thought about Brussels as an alternative to Schiphol. The blessings of living in the Schengen zone.🤣
Noise abatement procedures are interesting. For example, consider DXB that has either emirates road or those short buildings on the dubai sharjah road which I used to take to school all those years back. But at LCY for example, it almost flies directly above Canary Wharf and the Shard. Smaller aircraft advantages I guess.
The noise abatement procedures are insane at some places! In Brussels they make very little sense as 3 different parties are involved and not agreeing on anything: The Brussels authority, Flanders and Wallonia, each have their own priorities and political agenda.
Brussels is an interesting alternative. I rather spend 2 hours in the train vs 5 hours in line.

The A350 is still quite rare where I live, in Dubai. Few airlines fly it there so I don’t get the chance a lot. I hope to fly it soon!

Other than the 3-4-3 configuration in United, I like the airline a lot !
I think nobody is installing 3-3-3 anymore.. There are some airlines who continue to have it, but those planes were delivered in the better days!

When I flew United Airlines long haul all the way from the US to India and back, Economy Class had a 3-3-3 configuration. I think that one is much better than the 3-4-3 configuration on a Boeing 777.

United has two distinctive seat designs in economy on their widebody aircraft. The 767-300ER, 767-400ER, domestic 777-200(ER), 777-300ER, 787-8, and most 787-9s have the older style. The international 777-200ER, a few 787-9s, and all 787-10s have the new design. The main difference is that it has a literature pocket behind the IFE screen, in addition to the main seat back pocket. This is supposed to slightly increase legroom. The Dubai flight is going to be operated by the 777-200ER, so it'll have the new seats.
Seems like most other airlines stopped issuing inflight magazines since the pandemic.

Brussel use to be a hub for Indian Carrier Jet Airways now that they are back in operations wonder what's next in store for them.
But of course Emirates has the best IFE!
United will however be in my top 10, maybe even top 5.
True, Jet used Brussels for some years before transferring to Amsterdam. I managed to fly them a few times, top notch quality. I’m looking forward for what’s in store for them, I however am afraid that there are far too many powerful parties lobbying against their growth…
5:50 I remember that UNITED safety demonstration video. They came up with a great concept showing the airplane safety features from different parts of the world, all to the music by the great American composer George Gershwin in the background
However iI was surprised to see the final scene of the safety video set in China
United is a US carrier. Their hubs are in NewYork, Washington, Chicago and SanFrancisco
It would make more sense to finish the safety video from one of these cities instead since all of these cities have iconic landmarks which could’ve been shown in the video

I think all airlines are a bit strict with the checked bag.. It also depends on your frequent flier tier. Most of the time they won’t be strict if it’s a kg above or so.. I’ve never really had any issue.

The catering was surprisingly good! I love going somewhere with mid-ish expectations and then for those to be exceeded.

On a serious note great review. A lot of you tubers focus to much on the food and cut the flaps going up and down from the review. To me, as an avgeek, that is the best part of flying. I do not care about the food. Each flight is different. Food could be bad on flight and great the next. Besides I always have an MRE (minus the heater. That would be dangerous) in my carry - on in case i do not like the food.

It was highly likely during a week day, probably a Tuesday, but the trick isn’t only that; I also have an app that shows me available seats for sell on airlines, so I tend to fly only empty planes😁
