Another great video! I'm glad you were able to get so much sock knitting done on your trip. I love the idea of turning your Ruska into a cardigan and keeping it. You worked so hard on all that colorwork, and the pink is so pretty. You should be able to enjoy it for years to come! I appreciate all your footage of Maine. Thank your family for being willing to share with us!❤🧶
My dear Amber, I learn so much from you! I've learned not to attempt those colorwork yoke sweaters of yours. You adapt them so well, but I wouldn't want to. The vacation videos were so appreciated, your family is so photogenic, and my mood was elevated when you read my Mother's name from your precious, heirloom quilt. Peace and Blessings to you all, knitters or not 🧶🍂🪡
Hi Amber, I'm always inspired by your episodes. I'm now adding prayers to my gift knits, such a lovely idea, thank you! I've never made a shawl, but I think I will start an Italian Summer Scarf soon. Your Sonder sweater is a perfect fit, great job!!! Thank you for sharing your vacation clips. It's been nearly 40 years since I've been to Acadia National Park, it was such a delight to see it again. Thank you, you're wonderful!
I have never heard rules about warm and cool colors and mixing them. I tend to work intuitively and whose what I like so you just go ahead and do what you like😊
I was lucky enough to be knitting a Tamy Gore pattern myself as you discussed your TG test knit. How fun! I love how your sweater came out. Good to know about the other sweaters... they are in my ravelry library and now I have good insights on them. ❤ yay for so many finished objects and to finish up long standing wips. Thanks for sharing ❤
A lovely podcast I didn't know how beautiful Maine is and the Trees and Sea what a beautiful spot to have a holiday. So many knits socks so lovely and I love that you pray and think of the person who will receive this gift. The first sweater is lovely and fits you well. That is such a great thick cowl ready for fall and winter. When I heard about the Birkin sweater I feel that you must stick to the Designers who are tried and tested and design sweaters more suitable for your figure. The last sweater tighten up the neckline and redo it and then steek and lightly felt it and make it a family cardigan. (Extended family)Take care ❤😊
Great to see you again! Very glad that you have found a way forward with the Ruska. Good plans, and I think the steeked jacket is a really interesting idea. Love the colors on those Fabel socks. Need to get some of that. And I'm one of those that watch all the way to the end for the lovely vacation footage. I've never been to Maine, but hope to go some day. Thanks for sharing.
@@alovelyyarn Yes, I too appreciated you sharing this sentiment. I use knitting as such a spiritual and healing experience for myself. This is a wonderful way of sharing one's gift with others to lift them up in thought and spirits.
I haven't been to Acadia in years, and you made me want to go back! We go to York a couple of times a year, but we need to go all the way back up to Acadia. It is so beautiful.
YAY!!!!!!!!!!! Your Sonder is done!!!!!!! I'm so so glad you love Good Wool - as you know, I'm SUCH a fan of it (great price point, lovely color selection, blooms nicely, lightweight, versatile in fabric density/gauge, wooly but not itchy). Beautiful cowl!! Your Maine family vacation looked wonderful - that national park is on our list to visit someday! Take care~Stephanie
It's only been for the last couple of months. It will pass! I'm doing stretching and have a couple of appointments with a massage therapist who works on pressure points.
All your knits are beautiful in my opinion. I especially love the first one which you have completed. The Ruska is too big and My advice is finish it and sell it to a larger person ! It’s very beautiful and may or may not shrink when blocked. Thankyou for a great vid. 😊
Your knits are always stunning! But wow your photography and the music you selected to enhance it was breathtaking! I’ve always wanted to go to the New England states, and you gave me a glimpse of why I want to visit! The rocky shores with the surf splashing was beautiful. The rocks you traveled through were a challenge…I would have tripped and fallen from not paying attention where my feet were going. It was a great family vacation. Thanks for sharing. I know I will be watching that portion again. Have a great week!
Hi Cindi! New England is beautiful. I had family who used to live in Boston, so we made multiple trips up there and through the various New England states while I was growing up. Maine, though, is by far my favorite!
Thanks for sharing your vacation video! We leave next weekend for Acadia and I'm sitting here casting on a few pairs of socks to knit on while we're away. Our 5-hour drive is now seeming very short to me after hearing about the length of your journey. But Acadia is definitely worth it!
Hahaha! Yeah, when we have a drive any shorter than 8 hours it feels like a piece of cake because we're so used to that long drive to Maine. But it is worth it! Have a wonderful time!
Congratulations on finishing all those WIPS! You did a great job. I totally agree about the cowl and how it fits. What’s the point of having a cowl that just hangs loose on your chest?! I really like yours! Another great podcast and I loved the vacation photos. I felt like I had a little trip to Acadia.❤
I loved your family trip to Maine. Hope you know how blessed and lucky you are to have a normal family and not have any prodigals children. I know there's one that wasn't there but you are very blessed and lucky. You're one of the the rare ones.
I absolutely LOVE the idea of prayer socks. My sister is going through a really hard time and had asked me to knit her a pair of slippers. I am going to get going right away on a pair of "prayer slippers." ❤
Thank you for another great episode showing your knitting journey. I appreciate that you show us all your successes and the ones that need readjusting too! I particularly loved the footage of your trip to Maine. I've never been there and the Atlantic looks incredible. Thanks again!
I just love your blogs , youu are so inspiring. I knit or crochet every day, its my salvation. Blessings to you & all my fellow knitters from Somerset, South West of England where l live with my husband & two beautiful basset hounds x
Enjoyed the vacation footage! Even though I live here, I got to see a couple places I haven't been to. My favorite part of this state is the coast, and find it so calming and peaceful.
I am definitely going to try the Sonder sweater after seeing this! It’ll be my first colorwork sweater. And I was at Acadia this summer as well! It was our first time there. I absolutely loved it!
What beautiful footage of Maine! Thanks for sharing. Even though I think your pink sweater (sorry, don't remember the name) looks cozy on you as is, I think steeking is also a great idea. One thing I wanted to share with you is that, many podcasts ago you inspired me to make a Farmhouse Shawl by cabinfour. I'm just now getting around to making it, but thanks so much for the suggestion, it's a great pattern. ❤
I love the prayer sock idea! Definitely incorporating it into my routine. ❤ I have LOVED your colors for the Sonder sweater since the first time you showed it. Excellent job on conquering those wips! I want to cast on so many things but I’m finishing my wips first. ❤

Wow, 🤩 I just loved this episode. First 🙌🏻 socks. Love them. I have always really liked your cool/warm color sweater. So glad you are continuing with it. And finally your coral sweater being made as a cool weather jacket… brilliant! 🎉 happy knitting. Blessings! Thanks for sharing. 😃
I knit lots of socks and I love the prayer sock idea. I like your idea about blocking the sweater first and then knitting the neck ribbing up and snugging up the yoke a bit. I actually think a slightly oversized color work pullover is adorable! It’s wintery and cozy. But not if you’re not going to wear it! 😮 Also, I think your warm and cool tone sweater really works. It’s going to be beautiful!
I loved the holiday clips and am mighty impressed with your walking over large uneven rocks while filming skills! I’d fall head first over the first hurdle. 😂 So motivating to see you completing your old wips. I hope your enthusiasm will rub off on me and my own wips! 🙊😃🥰
Haha. I had to laugh because part of one of those clips that you didn't see (because I edited it out), is me tripping over a rock and gasping in surprise! Lol. I would not have filmed anywhere that was dangerous though. Some of those trails go right along cliff edges. It's full concentration on those parts!
Your Sonder sweater turned out so perfect! Looks absolutely wonderful on you. Your trip to Maine looked awesome, too - what a ruggedly beautiful state! 😊
My husband and I are just back from a week long cruise along the Atlantic coast from Quebec City to Boston. Thank you for this episode Amber, you have been very productive! I too was very disappointed with my ‘Birken’, I should have trusted my instincts and stopped when I realised it was never going to fit right, instead I carried on and ended up with the most badly fitting garment 😢 I loved seeing your footage of Maine, it looks an amazing place. Take care xx
You are so blessed, having your loving family!! The finished sweater you wear in the video is looking so good on you!! I am knitting with Létt Lopi, first time ever, and I released quickly this isn't a yarn I could wear close to my skin, so I have decided to knit the sweater pattern I ordered the yarn for, a size bigger, and turn it into a cardigan/outdoor jacket. I think that would be a good plan to do with the sweater you are knitting too.
Hi Amber: Awesome podcast, as usual! Thanks for sharing Arcadia National Park trip to Maine. I was supposed to go to Arcadia this summer, but I chose poorly and ended up going to Maryland to explore relocation option. Never been to Bar Harbor either. Love to relocate to Maine, but too much snow and cold in the winter. Also, property prices and costs of living have really gone up too much unfortunately. I just frogged a whole sweater that was way too big for me. I never knitted a saddle shoulder construction sweater before. So, I picked the wrong size based on chest measurement. So bummed because it was a two-color alternating stripe pullover. A lot of work to undo it all, ugh. Then as I am watching your podcast, I had to frog a colorwork sweater that was a free pattern. However, the cast on stitches for the neckline was too many stitches. I started it before at the beginning of the year and messed up at the color work. I messed up figuring out the math for the colorwork repeats because the last colorwork repeat is not working out correctly. I have to try again. Hopefully the third time might be the charm! I think I will buy the Sonder sweater pattern that you are wearing and buy yarn for that project and start that instead of trying to figure out the colorwork sweater that I just frogged. I have been inspired to knit it ever since you showed it as your WIP. Love your yarn and color choices and fit! Thanks so much for sharing! Hope you can alter your WIPs to your liking! Happy knitting! ❤❤
Yes, Maine is beautiful, but you are right. The winters are long and cold. Although sunnier than Western PA which is tempting. Lol. Real estate price have gone up drastically since we first started vacationing there 12 years ago.

LOVE your sonder sweater!!! Gorgeous, Amber!!! Im knitting my first color work sweater which is the Mudo sweater from the petite knitter. Im hoping to finish it so I can wear it when we go to Acadia for Christmas! First Christmas without any kids so we want to go somewhere fun and we don’t care if the weather is snowy. 😂
Oh my gosh! That will be a fantastic trip! And a great sweater for it too!
