Amber, i was going to suggest Piper’s Journey!!! The designer, Paula Emons- Fuessle hosted Knitters Pipeline Podcast for years. Also knitting retreats I attended in Maine, Georgia and Illinois, her home state. At one retreat She gifted attendees Chickadee (i received your very color! ). Paula was an amazing woman, loved by all her Pipeliners, many of whom remain friends to this day - because of Paula. Sadly she passed of ovarian cancer 3/23/21 having been diagnosed in 2019. At her death Quince and Co designated all proceeds from her patterns for ovarian cancer research. Paula’s favorite verse even in her darkest days was Phillipians 4:4. “Rejoice in the Lord always; and again I say, Rejoice.” Her dearest friend Sue Mullins Witkin created a lovely soft covered book in Paula’s memory called Hold Your Knitting Close; the Knitting Life of Paula Emons-Fuessle which Sue made available April 2023. We miss Paula greatly. She always ended her podcasts with “Hold Your Knitting Close.” We had a knit along to honor her - Piper’s Journey. You chose well 🩷
Thank you for sharing! The holiday season has been tough for me since my husband passed away in October 2022. We were married for 42 years. I Thank YOU for motivating me. I haven't made bread in eons, but now I want to. I love your daughter's sweater. Adorable. God bless you and your lovely family ❤
Piper’s Journey is a lovely yarn and makes me miss Paula’s podcast, The Knitting Pipeline. I wish I had your energy, excitement has made you highly energized 😊 Love Lily’s sweater and loved this episode.
Your daughter’s sweater is awesome and looks great on her. You got a lot done the decorating is lovely. You got the yarn wound that’s great. Thanks for blogging today. It put me more in the spirit to decorate too.
What a cozy and fun episode, thank you! Your holiday decorations are beautiful, everything looked so nice by evening and I enjoyed the cozy vibe. That is going to be a gorgeous scarf 🧣 😊!
Such a lovely surprise!! So enjoyed this video...and jealous of the snow!! I think we all need a little Christmas now, plus Thanksgiving is late this year. That yarn is beautiful. Looking forward to seeing it grow into that lovely scarf! Your daughter is delightful!
Thank you for helping me find a little Christmas spirit. You'll love Piper's Journey! I've made 2. Now you have me thinking of a red one. I love your home. It's so cozy. ❤
Living vicariously through your channel, I am so jealous of the weather you are having. We just had two days of 36 degrees Celsius here in Melbourne, Australia, and it is (almost) too humid for knitting. I love your videos.
Hi Amber, I just love your blogs so much. 😊The Christmas sweater is a treasure. Ha. So cute on Lily. I agree, I hate caking up yarn and would so it so seldom that I sometimes would get a tangled mess. So I gave my equipment to my daughter and I ball up my yarn by hand. I like doing it. I am making a red wool sweater now and I got the yarn from Michael’s very reasonably, and got extra and made a beret, which felted just beautifully. I was so tickled! I might make a scarf too when done with the sweater. Thank you.😊
We're under a snowfall warning here in central Alberta today, so it was lovely to knit (Downton Gloves -- fingerless -- for a friend who's a Downton Abbey addict) and watch your vlog. And that shawl! Well! I had to check it out -- and yes. Apparently there's a site-wide sale of 30% most of the inventory -- so I got the pattern for only $5.00 CAD. I too prefer free patterns but -- oh! That one is *so* pretty! And I have just the right sport-weight yarn for it: some Madeleine Tosh I got 2nd-hand a few years ago. It's in a deep, vibrant pink (which I wear well). Once I finish those gloves I might just have to cast that on...! Thanks! And happy vlogging. 🙂
Love that thrifted Xmas sweater, and the shawl pattern you picked. Going to take a look at Quince and Co. now. Thanks for getting me into the cozy holiday spirit!
Thank you for vlogging and helping me get in the Christmas spirit! Lilly’s sweater is gorgeous. Thank you Lilly for rescuing that sweater from the thrift store. Somebody put a lot of work into that gorgeous sweater and it deserves to be with someone who appreciates it! ❤ 😊
What a lovely surprise to see your pre Christmas vlog. Just so lovely, as usual. Looking forward to vlogmas too. Lily looked lovely in her cardigan. I remember you thrifting together in previous years. Happy knitting 😊
Lily's sweater is very well done and fun for the Christmas spirit! She's adorable. It's nice to know that I'm not the only one that felt autumn was kinda flat and the holiday mood crept in early. We are also a very Thanksgiving first, Christmas tree up the day after family. Cheers!
Thank you so much for sharing this with us. Your daughter’s sweater is the best Christmas sweater I’ve ever seen and your new red shawl is going to be so pretty and seasonal. It all puts me in a more festive frame of mind.
@@alovelyyarnI honestly don’t remember so I think not. I did put fabric softener in the water when I soaked it to soften it up. Knit a swatch and put it in warm water to check. I use a color catcher sheet too most of the time. 😊😊
This was excellent! Now I’m totally in the mood for Christmas! I live in a sunny, desert climate and I struggle to get into the Christmas mood every year, but seeing you decorate with the snow falling outside your window… totally Christmas! And I love the Charlie Brown Christmas music! 🎄Thank you! Can’t wait for your next episode!
I have been in the festive mood myself since October. I’m so jealous of your snow. We were supposed to to get 1-3” here in MI, but we didn’t get any. I think you’re going to be very happy with your red shawl. Your sourdough bread looked incredible. Yum! P.S. Thank you for your comment on my sourdough loaf. I hope to achieve your level of expertise!
Beautiful scenery outside your window. Love the shawl pattern you found, I thought you said scarf, but this pattern looks great! Your daughter's sweater is awesome & beautiful. Take some advice and kick momma bird out of your wreath during daylight hours. 🙂
Loved this surprise vlog and really looking forward to your Vlogmas episodes 😀. I’m knitting the ‘Ridges’ scarf by Andra Asars and I think it might work well for your red yarn. It’s free, and very easy. It’s a rectangular scarf, though, not a crescent shape. ‘Orbit’ is a paid pattern from Janina Kallio - very easy to knit, and very easy to wear and you can continue until you run out of yarn.
Oooh I love that Piper's Journey shawl. I am going to snag that one, especially since it's on sale. Thanks for your vlogs. Can't wait until Vlogmas! I know it's a LOT of work for you, but it's so nice to follow along.
I have a knit stitch that I have never seen in any stitch dictionary. Cast on a multiple of six plus four. Cast on about 50% more than you think you will need for the width you want. *Slip 1 purlwise,K 1, S1,K3* to last four stitches, end Sl 1,K1,Sl 1,K1. Makes a double thick scarf. Great pet bed in thick yarn.
Those Pennsylvania birds! When we were living in Philly I had a wreath on my front door in the spring. One day, I opened the door and a bird flew out of the wreath toward the yard. I saw that she had started a nest in the wreath so after checking for eggs, I removed the sparse nest to encourage her to start again somewhere else. By the next day, a full nest was firmly entrenched in the wreath along with several eggs which I could see from the window on the door. At this point, I could no longer use my front door. I decided to call the audubon society of PA for some help figuring out how to relocate this nest without causing the mama bird to abandon the nest. This was when I was informed that in PA it is illegal to move a House Wren nest regardless of where it is located. I asked, "Illegal in what way?" I wondered do the bird police come? I decided at that point I'd risk it and move the nest to a nearby tree. Everything worked out for all parties involved :)
Oh, you’re knitting socks! …so jealous! I can knit just about anything but! Indeed, your snowfall is gorgeous! I’m all ready for winter-including warm bread, hot soup, and any power outages!
When I saw that snow I couldn't help but think it looked so beautiful. Then I realized you're so much farther south than I am and we have had rain for the last couple days . Seems topsy-turvy to me 😂 Your shawl will be beautiful in that color. Enjoy your gift dinner and your evening.
Enjoyed watching this episode 😊, thank you! I keep thinking of the Piudevili wrap, I think it's something you'd like too! A free pattern on Ravelry, by Hanna Kyttä. A garterstitch shawl (think it's even cresent shaped) with a lace border. I made two already and love them. Maybe for some future knitting 😊
Savory Knitting has the Ghost Flowers scarf at $3.75 on Ravelry until tmrw. It’s cute for either fingering or sport. I have it waiting for me in my Rav library - maybe i should knit one in red! Thanks for another good video, Amber. Edited : oops - I see you already found a pattern!
I saw that pattern when she released it and loved it,, but it was a fingering weight pattern. However, I might just get it for the future. I didn't realize it was on sale. Thanks!
We only received about an inch of snow and it was all gone by late afternoon when the rain moved in because the temps increased. It was beautiful while it was here!

Your daughter's thrifted sweater is BEAUTIFUL! What a find!
She looks adorable in it! It only cost her $1!
❤ thank you!
I loved Lily's sweater and she looks so cute in it.
I did the Italian Summer Scarf in a Poppy Dk, it turned out great and it's so cozy.
What a cozy and fun episode, thank you! Your holiday decorations are beautiful, everything looked so nice by evening and I enjoyed the cozy vibe. That is going to be a gorgeous scarf 🧣 😊!

Oh my, that was fun!! The snow does make things so cozy. Your soup looked delicious - just the ticket on a cold day. 🙂
You share your birthday with my daughter, she turned 46 in 11/17. 😊 Thank you for your cozy episode 💕
Love that thrifted Xmas sweater, and the shawl pattern you picked. Going to take a look at Quince and Co. now. Thanks for getting me into the cozy holiday spirit!

That's so great to hear! Thank you for watching!
Your daughter is adorable. I knit my husband a sweater with the Long John color. Very pretty. I put fabric softener in the water when I soaked it.
Oh then I have a question for you... Did it bleed it all? I always get nervous with red yarns!

My daughter is out right now on storm duty. Works for penelec ( First Energy) and electric is out for a lot of people because of the snow storm.
We only received about an inch of snow and it was all gone by late afternoon when the rain moved in because the temps increased. It was beautiful while it was here!
@ pretty though, especially when it doesn’t pile up.
Cant believe you have so much snow. Here I am in southeastern Ontario Canada and not a flake yet. Happy birthday and Thanksgiving.
Hahaha. It was all gone by nightfall!
@@jennieweston6767 Hi neighbor. I'm in Niagara Falls, NY and said the same thing. Strange to see it so much farther south 🙃
