I'm a regular follower of Dr Idriss's and she packaged like this because it resembles the injections you get at the dermatologist's office. She thought it was fun and her color scheme is chosen for the same reason. Dr Idriss is a very effusive, fun-loving dermatologist who makes no apologies for her pretty colors preference! I love her! This hyper serum is meant to be used as part of her major fade line which includes a flash mask (contains exfoliating and brightening ingredients) and a vitamin C gel based moisturizer. I can't use the mask due to its high concentration of Tranexamic acid though. If you haven't tried it Sarah and would like to I am more than happy to send mine to you as I never opened it once I realized it had the TXA. I do use the two products though. Also one of the reasons her products cost a little more is because she is the sole funding agent behind the brand. Other Derm brands for example have had help from brand accelerators (Prequel funded by the same company that helped Naturium get its start for example).
I did use it for 3 to 4 months! Although ingredients are great, it did broke me out ( more acne) and I didn’t see any changes with my hyperpigmentation!
Hi, Sarah 😊 Thanks for reviewing all levels of skincare products - I love to learn about the best of the best but my budget requires trying to find the ingredients and approximate formulations in much more affordable formats - so I love being able to hear what’s new or works best and then have the information to put together a similar routine. I’m very grateful for your enthusiasm and commitment to all manner of skincare! 🙏🏼
Hi, but at this price did it do any better that any of the other more affordable serums/creams you've used, no matter the ingredients? For instance, the G&G vitC or the G&G Apad that you really love? The brightly serum from Dr Sam's which is also expensive but still cheaper than this one ? Thanks !
Remedy also contains retinol and mandelic acid, though, so some people won’t be able to use it. I already use tretinoin and azelaic acid prescriptions, so a product like remedy won’t work for me.
Hi Sarah! I'm surprised you didn't give it an 8 because of the price AND the inclusion of mica/colorants. The Dr. Idriss products are marketed as 'swanky'. Beautiful packaging, tempting those wanting to 'class up' their vanities. 😂 I see the allure but because of the image she wants to project, I think her prices will stay high (although reachable for many buyers). I've enjoyed the Major Fade but I need to do a side by side comp with Faded, which I've loved for years. I do prefer the application of Major Fade. Btw, she pronounces her name: ē' dris. Love your content!☮️❤️
Sarah have you tried The Ordinary Alpha Arbutin? I just purchased my first bottle and I am amazed. I have not had to wear foundation for the days I have started using it. I have rosacea, hyperpigmentation, broken capillaries and a very red face in general. Instant results, wish I would have known years earlier!
I could try the system and it did brighten mys skin (system = mask + serum + moisturizer) but the serum (2 cartridges) only lasted for 1 month and 10 days so quite expensive yes. As I'm in Europe I cannot re-order right now but in this amount of time I could definitely an improvement. I am going to try Thiamidol now from Eucerin.
I love this doctor but sadly used this for over 6 months and saw nothing to my melesma. Have a group of friends that used it and said the same thing. I wish she re-make this serum so it can actually work please!!
I’m sure it’s fine. But not everyone should have their own skincare line. I don’t spend too much on products. I can order tretinoin from Mexico which pretty much handles all aging issues. Moisturizers don’t need to be expensive either. Sunscreen is pretty affordable too. I will buy a lot of affordable serums from the Ordinary or Inkey List. But I’m not convinced they make much difference.
@@lashaundasmith5305 You can go online to a Mexican pharmacy like, Medsmex or Reliable Rx. I have recently ordered from both. You usually pay with an online check. It’s easy and legit. Hyperpigmentation is the bane of my existence!! 😅 thank you for the honest review. Have you reviewed the new release by Dr Shah called Remedy? I would love a review of it as well if possible.
I wish I would have prevented it from even occurring, seems like that would have been much easier than trying to get rid of it- I've been working on hyperpigmentation and melasma now for about ten years. Will definitely check out Remedy- I'm all over trying anything and everything! ETA: just ordered it, will start testing it asap!
@@NOBSBeauty I feel you! I wish I had too. I never wore sunscreen until recently and now I must pay for it. I am currently undergoing a round of topical chemotherapy on my face so I am off of actives for the month. Please wear sunscreen, everyone!!
I follow Dr. Idriss and she is very knowledgeable, I was waiting for shipping to become available to Canada to try it. I do agree it is costly like many other products out there, but I like the ingredients combination for melasma definitely a great mix.
I have a really stuborn melasma moustache and I have come to the conclusion that OCT cannot help me. I am better off saving my money for a dermatologist and/or peels. However, this could be interesting as a maintenance product.
The Palmer’s Anti Dark Spot Fade cream is very inexpensive and surprisingly effective . Though it’s not the most elegant formulation and it’s quite thick. I usually rub into my fingers first then press into the skin. Anyone have any experience with this cream ? I’ve only been using it for a few weeks though.
Finally caved in and got it. We shall see. I’ve basically tried all cheaper alternatives. Just need something to keep things at a bay in between hydroquinone sessions. 😢
@@30goals It wasn’t any better than the much cheaper Good Molecules and Inky List products, so I just went back to those. I tried for a few months at over $150 per set of Dr Idriss. Definitely not worth it to me. Your mileage may vary.
Thank you for the informative video! I’m going to wait because I’m using the Remedy for dark spots that I use at night. Also, need to finish the DRMTLGY Hydra Fader that I use in my morning routine. Thanks 💕
So far I like it. I started using it probably the end of January. It was whenever she launched with the new name. I use 2 pumps. I use it in my morning routine and at night when I remember. Second cartridge hasn't run out yet.
Same! I was really disappointed! I bought the whole set and didn’t see any change at all even after using them for 3 months. I liked the moisturizer, which is oddly the product people seem to dislike the most from this set, but not enough to pay $60 for it. The exfoliating mask was fine, but I’ve used cheaper products that worked just as well or better than it did. The serum though was a total dud. It didn’t give me any problems but it was an expensive and unnecessary step in my routine that did nothing for my hyperpigmentation.
I tried the active seal moisturizer and was sooo super disappointed. It pilled no matter what I did. I remembered why I switched to Korean moisturizers they never pill 🤷♀️
IT DOES PILL!! It doesn’t play well with others at all 😖 but I like the consistency so much. Not sure I see any brightening though. I ordered this product and will give them a try as a set to see if there’s any results.
I wonder how different it is from their Glycolic B5 10% pure glycolic acid serum which used to be their mela-d pigment control, which is fragrance free unlike the Mela B3?
Honestly the only thing to lessen my post-acne red spot (PIH) and i was previously using Topicals Faded, other products with niacinamide and Azelaic Acid consistently. Mela B3 has been the best so far, although it hasn’t totally eliminated the redness after about six weeks of use 3-4 times a week (or thereabouts)

Literally just ordered this two days ago! - I have been almost through a bottle of her vitamin c moisturizing gel. Haven’t seen anything significant with that, plus it pills easily. I do like the consistency though.
I'd try out her new cleanser but not $30 lol. thats over my cleanser budget. it would need to be huge for $30.. her moisturizer seems really basic and expensive.
