Hey. Thanks for this. I have a Cubot Dinosaur, and watched so many videos that provided no help. Just tried this, and so far no problems. I was experiencing constant WiFi connection drops.
This solution is working great so far.
Also, I never knew how to unlock the developer options before.

@@peterpiper4418 This is usually if the phone is updated to recent Android. I have updated it and now I don't have DHCP legacy option either. But also wifi connectivity problems are gone.

For those of you who are using Sony Xperia XA1 Ultra. I just upgraded my software from Android 7 to Android 8. My phone works perfectly now. I bought my phone last December 2017 and I never updated it. Not until I experienced a wifi connection problem. Which automatically turns off and on my phone. Switching to saved and authentication problem. I almost did a factory reset but thankfully I discovered this trick after days of searching online. But like I've said after I turned on the software updates it does the magic! I hope this helps and works for you all too. :)
Just to add: If ever you wonder how I used the wifi to install the updates. Since I am experiencing this crazy connection. I used another phone to connect via mobile hotspot for me to install the updates. If you still have questions, feel free to comment down below.
How do you update Xperia XA to android 8 from 7?
I finally fixed my problem after months by going into my router settings and double checking what my password was to notice i had a missing digit, for ages i had to connect by holding in the wps button. Hope this might help

i dont have option to turn that on on Sony Xperia Z... ill try factory reset, or pls tell me how to fix it... its scanning, and then connecting, and then back to scanning and then connecting, and do this 24/7, but doesnt connect at all, im without net on phone for a weeeeeeeek, all good on both computers :(

This procedure of enabling the "DHCP Legacy Client" option in the Developer settings menu did not work for me. What seems to have worked though is to switch on AIRPLANE MODE for a few seconds and then turn it back off. It'll work fine for a while then. When it starts to get cranky again, repeat.

I have the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium and i didn't have any issues until the recent update and now i have to reset my phone to get it working but even that doesn't sort it, and even then, when it is connected and it does not say connected but no internet its still not working... Surely they must no of this if more than one phone is being effected and they must send out another update to fix it.... Its ridiculous.
I agree that they have to send another update, because not only Sony phones are affected with this issue, also Nexus phones has the same problem.

Even when i get close to my router... It has some problems with wifi connecting. My Samsung and appl devices never had this program b4. 3 of my Xperia has this problem...

Yes, I know Huawei quite well. I actually own Huawei phone now. It is P10 Lite version. But what I think is that all phones starts to be slow when they are filled with photos and applications, even Huawei :)

This option is removed when you upgrade to nougat 7.0
That's true. I recommend you not to update until there is no fix for this issue also in Nougat.

I On The DHCP legacy in sony Z5 but it does not work
WiFi Drivers on marshmallow for the Z2 in my experience were inferior (Should go without saying). Time and time again, I will have trouble connecting to given WiFi access point while no body else using other devices had issues connecting or staying connected. Sony never fixed the issue. The only real fix in my experience (that had any efficacy) was to downgrade from Marshmallow. (In my case, I chose to go back to 4.4.4). WiFi problems disappeared.
That is true. When you downgrade from Nougat to Marshmallow there shouldn`t be any problems if you enable DHCP legacy. But I think this was not only Sony`s problem, it was also more like Google problem, but the difference is that Google updated the driver and Sony didn`t. That is not good. I am curious how it is with new phones, for example Sony XZ. Anyone has it?

Ypu probably have newer version of android system. Newer versions don't have this option. In newer versions I don't think that is an issue anymore.

Hey... you have to enable developer options. If you tap on the Build number in About phone info couple of times in a row. Check in video how to do it.

This is when the phone is updated to higher version of Android. I have updated mine and now the DHCP option is gone. But wifi is working again.
If the phone is updated, there shouldn't be any problems. I don't have them anymore.

Hey dude! Thanks for the comment and questions. On my Sony Xperia Z5 I am using implemented screen recorder. If you press power button for a long time, there you have the menu to take a screen shot or to record a screen. I think that you can use the same settings at your z2 in developer options.

Od začetka sem bil zelo zadovoljen z Oneplus X, vendar po posodobitvi na novejšo različico Androida 6 prikaže notifikacije, maile z nekajurno zamudo in preneha predvajat vsebine z izklopljenim zaslonom (recimo BGTube) po približno 15 minutah . Upam, da bo to odpravilo težavo. Hvala!

Po dolgem času sem se spet lotil reševati težavo z zakasnjenimi notifikacijami; pomagalo pa je tole (za Android 7): greš na Settings > Apps > klikneš zgoraj na kolešček. Nato izbereš Special Access in Battery Optimization. V drugi vrstici izbereš All Apps, poiščeš želeno aplikacijo (recimo Gmail) in izbereš Don't optimize in DONE. Nato izklopiš/vklopiš telefon in bi moralo delovat.
I don't have those options, my phone seems to not find ANY wifi networks, restarted my phone, any more advice?
You can always try to factory reset it.
But first make a backup of all photos and files

Hele S you are probably on android 7 or higher. On android 7 dhcp option went away. And that is too bad. I was searching for a solution but couldn't find it yet.

Please check which Android version you have. If you are already on 7.0 Nougat, then this option is not available. Otherwise I think you should have it. Have you enabled Developer options?
Tech Production The phone was on Android 6.0 and it upgraded to Android 7.0. I enabled developer options, but I don't see the Enable DHCP client option. I see an option to Enable WiFi verbose logging, is that similar?
Yes, Android 7.0 doesn't have that option anymore.

On Z1 you should have the Developer options and DHCP option to enable. Have you checked?
