    This "sassy corporate Twitter" thing was only briefly good when it was brand new, because the few companies that did stuff like this (Wendy's) were taking a risk and actually being different. The reason this is so cringe is because having a sassy corporate Twitter is now actually a SAFE thing to do after it was pretty much unanimously embraced by consumers, and it seems like half the corporate Twitters out there are now doing the sassy thing.
    So like, ironically, "sassy corporate Twitter account" is now the most soulless corporate thing you can do on Twitter. It's been "focus tested" so to speak.

      It can be general misinterpretation or myths that's that keeps popping up in the general consciousness. E.g. Wolf packs are led by an Alpha, Only use 10% of your brain, Farmers need Daylight Savings, Bumblebees "defy" all known laws of aviation, Lemmings commit mass suicides, Dinosaurs had two brains, Oil is made from dinosaurs, Pterosaurs are dinosaurs, Anything prehistoric and/or dead is a dinosaur, oils can cure "X" & swallowed chewing gum take seven years to digest.

    • @ReichardTheThird
      @ReichardTheThird 3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @@na-ky8ou "According to?" I really don't care about how he defines it, and I wouldn't bow to the authority or expertise of either of these clowns (so poisoning the well does nothing to help your case here); you could just ask how I define it. But it's funny that you think '"Bad science" means litteraly nothing' when you define science right after that. If you say "sciences are just research and deduction methods based on the gathering, and unbiased interpretation of facts," then, very obviously, bad science would simply be anything that isn't that: bad data collection and handling, biased interpretation of data.
      The idea that bad science means nothing would be to place Flat Eartherism, Geocentrism, homeopathy, and many other pseudosciences at the same level of validity as, you know, anything else. But those examples really are extreme examples, aren't they? They're all obvious pseudoscience; I will show you that bad science exists, even in scientists we think we can trust.
      Richard P. Feynman gave a speech in 1974 to Caltech graduates about what he called "Cargo Cult Science." He explained that in WWII, native islanders would receive cargo supply drops from airplanes. So of course, they recreated this after the war in hopes of once again receiving supplies. They made all the tools they needed out of wood, even had wooden headphones for the operators, but nothing happened. They didn't care about data or seeking the truth, they only cared about getting the cargo. It was a futile exercise in faith.
      The insidious thing is that Cargo Cult Science exists in science that we think we can trust. In 1909, Millikan measured the charge of an electron through an experiment. While the methodology was fine, he made a mistake, his value for the density of air was off. He didn't do bad science, he made a mistake, a mistake that would be corrected by repetitions of the experiment. The problem is that Millikan's value was very much off, but the repetitions were getting almost the same results. They should not have had that same error unless they had somehow also used the wrong value for air density. The truth is that they were falsifying their data in minute ways to get results that didn't stray too far from the accepted answer. We eventually have arrived at a much more accurate value, but we could've arrived at that value much sooner if scientists were more honest with themselves, if scientists had the gall to stand behind their results. There is your bad science.

    • @na-ky8ou
      @na-ky8ou 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@ReichardTheThird So your examples to describe what a "bad science" could be are: people using the scinetific method uncorrectly, which is not a science in itself, pseudosciences, which are pretty much the same thing, and a storie about how a group of natives thought that technology was some sort of magic...very compelling argument.
      I'm just going to repeat myself: sciences are all about objectively explainig things based on facts, so by definition, they can't be good nor bad. People can use them badly, though, but it doesn't make the whole thing bad, nor does it create a whole new kind of science. If I suck at maths, I haven't created "bad maths".
      Also, for someone who tries to appear smart as hard as you do, it's not very mature to insult people right at the beginning of a comment.

      @@i.m.evilhomer5084 I mostly agree with you, except for once point, which is the une that started this whole discussion. What you're talking about are popular beliefs, not scientificly proved facts, ans since sciences have debunked most of them, or people just overlooked what was actually know about some if these subjects and just came up with their own things, they can't even be considered as theories, nor hypothesis. They're just wrong, period.
      Also, what you just said about what the original comment may consider to be a bad science doesn't change the fact that there are non good nor bad sciences. Basically said, if it isn't proved to be working via the scientific method, then it's not a science.

    Despite the general public perception on the subject, Science itself isn’t some all-knowing hive-minded obelisk of a profession, but rather the opposite since it’s created from a myriad of differing sectors with each of those players contributing their own output to the table.
    Science is far less about having the most accurate answer/ equation to a problem, and instead far more about presenting the least inaccurate one (hell; the Big Bang Theory is just that, a theory, and if someone in the future was to create a far more compelling narrative of how the universe may’ve been hypothetically created (short of them inventing a time machine to find out), then we’ll all be following that one instead).

If anything it validates science: we used to think one thing, but now, because we have observable data that says otherwise, we know that this other thing is true. That's the scientific process.
