    Perfect info! I grow giant pumkins as well and chad speaks the gospel! You explained it all pretty well. One thing I'd add is that plants can only absorb nutrients between 6.5ish and 7.2, nitrogen absorbs more close to 6.5 and the other to absorb more closer to 7.0.. so you adjust according to if you growing the plant or the pumpkin. Takes at least a week to hit the plants through roots, the leaves are like the plants circulatory system , foliar feeding wile growing the pumkin is the bees knees!!

    I'd be very interested to hear more about your other fertilizers/nutrients and when you typically use them.

    10/10, IDK if there is much of anything to add. The next complex video might be you deciding if your plastic is too old. My longest day this year was 103f & only provided 14.5 hours of daylight.
    My EC meter has a chart for TDS & ECx700.
    Silica is always added first b/c it can adjust the PH so quick that it pulls things out of solution, it'll look like salts.
    I too want to switch to powders. I still don't know how I want to mix it though, an aerator or a vortex. Mainly IDK if I should/want to add carbon dioxide using the aerator, like rainwater.

    Great video! this is my first year using different fertilizers so this helped a ton. I got an EC meter but just as a good starting point for something like 13-13-13 granule, how much per a square foot would you recommend to put out? And how often would be normal?

    • @ColoradoGiants
      @ColoradoGiants  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I feed daily with an EC of around 1. I have been watering about 50-ish g daily.

    Great video Chad. I have a couple of questions.
    1. Did you find that using the EC meter had a dramatic effect on the amount of fertilizing you do? In other words are you fertilizing more or less than you were before you starting checking the E.C.
    2. Are you checking your EC every single time you water or are you just doing it periodically to make sure you aren't getting too far out of whack.

    • @ColoradoGiants
      @ColoradoGiants  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      #1 - I was using WAYYYYYYYY more fertalizer than I was before. #2 I was checking the EC anytime I gave food to the plant.

      How many times a week are you feeding your pumpkin plants with the calcium nitrate?

  • @jacobweidle6692
    @jacobweidle6692 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Are dry fertilizers in weight oz rather than fl oz? I would assume weight but I’m not 100% sure

    • @ColoradoGiants
      @ColoradoGiants  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah. I would read the label to get a base line on what they recommend then test to get your EC

    Should you also ph water for foliar applications?
