  • Can this yellow gunge from AirVidox permanently eliminate the smell of cigerattes from this car? I tried it and waited 3 months to see if the smell returned.

    It is so unlucky the secondhand roof liner smelt like cigarettes because it looked so good!! Can you imagine how strong these particles are and how deep down in the liner the were? For anybody buying interior parts in the future, it's a good idea to ask if the owner smoked, as we learnt. Thanks for your service, Richard! And the sigh of relief after all was done must have been amazing. 😅

    I used the Air Vidox in my car that had previously been smoked in. I followed the instructions exactly. I have found that it didn’t work and the smoke smell is still there. What I do now is have a California Scents cherry air freshener in the car and this seems to mask it somewhat but I always notice the smoke smell when I first get in. I might look into replacing the roof liner. That seems like a good idea.

    Really unfortunate that you were out the £160 for the first headliner and then an additional £675 on the new headliner, not accounting for the cost of various cleaning products.
    It's funny how how much more we can waste in an attempt to avoid seemingly large costs.

      An addict doesn't tend to notice the problem because it's what they are used to. Completely nose blind. I remember visiting my dad when i was a kid and i brought a dog teddy, my stepdad and mum smoked but it wasn't until i got to my dads house that i realised the dog teddy stunk of cigarettes. I had to leave it in my bag.

      Might not have even been them! Could have been previous owner. He just might not have been that bothered about it. My old Toyota Celica had 4 previous owners and I know for a fact the owner before me didn’t smoke (my ex’s dad) but the person who bought the car after me (my friend) always maintained he could smell cigarettes, even when I owned the car. Didn’t bother my ex’s dad, didn’t bother me. He still loved the car mine.

      It's not about where you go, it's about who you get. It comes down to the individual that works on your car. That's why I like to do as much as I can.

    You should make a long term review of your leon, vw has bit of reputation for unreliability but I do believe any car lasts forever if properly cared for.
    Also why didn't you trade in the car when the warranty ended?

      @RichardFanders  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I want to make a review. There hasn't been a new car in the same class that has made me want to change yet. Also, keeping the Leon has saved me a lot of money and paid for a lot of the MX5.

    The smell of cigarettes is revolting, especially where it's been allowed to penetrate objects like furniture (and car interiors!). I cannot understand how anyone smokes in a confined space like a car in this day and age!
    It's interesting how disgusting I find the smell now. It's rare that I'm anywhere near someone who smokes, but when I am I can't stand it. Back in the late 90s when I was a teenager (showing my age!) I spent an awful lot of time in pubs and clubs and many of my friends smoked (I never did), and I never had that much of a problem with it. Now it's much rarer, I find it gross!
