Great information. I felt the same way about my SSI in the 70s and that is with a lot of connections and content. The only thing worse than recess in elementary school was valentines day....

In full transparency, I’m a college student who has to get my linked in SSI to a 30 for a grade. I am having a really hard time getting it above 20 because I’m a student who is planning on going to law school and I’m not exactly sure what I need to do.
Thanks for asking, Jack! Some key things to work on: Fill out your profile as best as you can (and put that you plan to go to law school in the About section and maybe even say “law school candidate” as part of your headline), post regularly about law topics, and connect with as many people you know in different areas of your life. (So you don’t get marked as spam, stick with people you know.) You can also do a free trial of one of LinkedIn’s Premium plans so you don’t hit any connection limits, and cancel the plan before you’re charged after 30 days. Finally, be sure to engage with other people’s posts in your newsfeed. I hope that helps, and good luck! 😀
Hey Brooke! Do you know if the SSI score actually means anything in terms of the algorithm?
Does a high SSI give your profile and posts more visibility or is it just a score for you to look at and think "LinkedIn's telling me I don't use search tools enough, interesting"?
Thanks for asking, Rory! A high SSI score will give your posts' reach a bit of a boost -- I've heard something like 20% or 30% more. I wouldn't be surprised if it also helps your profile show up higher in search results!

Thanks for asking, Christos! The URL to access your SSI score will work if you have the free version, too. It‘s just that if you want to increase the „find the right people“ component of your score, you would benefit from LinkedIn‘s Sales Navigator. (Unless you‘re actively prospecting cold leads, Sales Navigator isn’t worth it, in my opinion.)
