    Any benefit running a Provent catch can on a Barra NA engine ?

      If you wanted to prevent oil from being sent back into the intake runner then yeah. Would make your engine burn slightly less oil as it ends up in the catch can instead. Minor difference but would look cool 👍

      I say minor difference as it's not a mad tuned up monster but still a worthwhile mod for someone who loves their car 👍

      I wouldn't bother fitting a provent catch can on a petrol engine, definitely isn't worth the cost. I personally would recommend a proper baffled oil catch can/with oil seperator plates which will be cheaper long term & do the job just perfectly. I fitted a baffled catch can to my G6E a while back, even after 1500km, seeing what could have ended up in my intake.... i'm glad i fitted it, because them blow-by gasses contain semi flammable properties, it can throw out your peak power by a miniscule, fuel trims, but adding essentially unburnt fuel to a fresh charge of air when the car detects it, naturally it'll pull that hair amount of timing to compensate for blow-by gasses re-entering the combustion chamber.
      Truth ?, catch cans are very very easy to fit with a tidy look. If i could show you my setup i would. Easily unscrews leaving the base mount attached to the body still, thus maintenance is very easy indeed.

    i have oil in the PCV valve even if i clean it regularly. Do you think it's normal

    • @JoNoBaRr92
      @JoNoBaRr92  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just residue or Substantial amounts of oil making it through the pcv valve?
      into intake piping? If the latter valve may be stuck open

    Hey man any idea why I'm seeing an excessive amount of petrol on where the pcv vents into the intake manifold? I believe it's related to a warm restarting issue im having aswell as a strong smell of fuel on these restarts. It's been bothering me for a while now and was curious if you had any thoughts cheers.

      Fuel mixed with the oil from leaking past the rings from a leaky injector potentially when vehicle is shut off? Just a thought?

    • @darklightx2000
      @darklightx2000 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cheers for the reply, Leaky Injector is one of my #1 suspects aswell, other people I've asked also agree. I only realised recently that there's a t-piece on the pvc to intake hose from what I think is the fuel charcoal canister which is my other suspicion. Ive got a video on my channel of the warm start issue since its become very predictable. Car has 290,000km so leaky injectors are reasonably likely.
      Unrelated but I took my rocker cover off and found oil leaking from the same vct sensors you replaced in another video, was curious if you've had any further problems with them since replacing.

      @@darklightx2000 Can pull injector rail out with injectors still installed in rail and prime the fuel pump to pressurise the inkectors and then you could see if they are leaking. Not sure about fuel canister.
      I had no further issues with my FG after replacing VCT solenoids, that said I no longer own it lol.
      Which model do you have?

    Good job, many people don't bother putting in a new PCV valve or, they put in a metal one, WRONG.

    Mine pcv valve looks exactly like yours with some engine oil sludge in it. Does that indicate that I should change it?

      If it still rattles when you shake it then it is working, I just chose to replace mine because they only cost 9 dollars 👍

    What does this part do mate? Sorry for the stupid question

    • @JoNoBaRr92

      It’s not a stupid question mate. The PCV system allows the pressure that builds up inside the crankcase to be ventilated out to avoid damaging seals etc. Just look up a video explaining PCV systems to find out more if you need to.
      The part I changed in the video is a little valve that can eventually get stuck closed and stop operating correctly. Mine was not stuck but I replaced it anyway as it was a 8 dollar part.
