    Reminds me when I walked for the first time. It was awesome, I felt so happy. Getting a prosthetic leg was the best part of my life cause my leg had to be amputated above my knee when I was hardly a few months because of the body deformity that I was born with. This was the second surgery, after my heart surgery, and those 2 years in the hospital were horrible, but when I got my leg, it was freedom for me. Back then I could only walk, now I can do everything. All thanks to my prosthetic leg.

      I want to implant prosthetic my younger brother left leg below knee.so how much will be the cost?

    • @TheBobCheddar
      @TheBobCheddar 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @iknowthatfeel4363 it's been 7 years and I'm just now seeing this 😅. But I lost my leg because I had a staph infection in my leg foot that became antibiotic resistant and started to infect my blood, which in turn started to effect my organs, so to save my life I lost a leg. I consider that a win

    • @TheBobCheddar

      @sayyemsamiul-ub1ld it depends on a lot of factors. Who makes it, what kind of insurance coverage you have, how big it has to be, and how active you want to be

    Your smile is adorable, I can't imagine the feeling of learning to walk with a new leg. It's amazing you did all of this in one day, from trying it on to walking like it's nothing, how cool.

    It has been a number of years now, but the first time I walked on my prosthetic leg didn't require any learning.
    You use the same techniques as walking on a real leg.
    I never used a walker or crutches, and she didn't really need them either, they were just there to help her confidence.
    I have nearly the exact same amputation as the nice lady in this video.
    The "stump" (residual limb) does hurt after a day involving a lot of walking.
    When you have to get up to use the restroom in the middle of the night, that does pretty much suck.
    I bought a 4 wheeled "knee scooter" to get around the house without putting on the prosthesis, it's much easier to get around than using a wheelchair would be!
    The scooter works well if your house has only one level.

    A below knee amputation is 30% easier to recover from than a TK or AK ,keeping your kneecap really assists in walking.
    I wish her every happiness in her future.

    I hope that your appointment goes as well as mine. After five months, I wasn't sure how difficult it would be to walk. But after leveling out my feet (don't forget to take BOTH shoes), I was extremely comfortable walking. I had no problem putting all of my weight on my amputated leg. I think that it helped that I waited so long for my healing to take place. At the same time that I got my foot removed due to an acute infection, I also learned that I had diabetes. So it's been a steep learning curve that I've been taking slowly.
    My prosthetist marked one point on the socket for adjustment, and plans to make a carbon fiber version by next Friday. Then I should be able to take it home..
    Think about what color / pattern you want. I didn't think about it so I just said "black" which is the default. This socket is only supposed to last around four months anyway, so I have time to think about it as my leg continues to shrink.
    I hope and pray for all the best for you. Feel free to reach out to me if you need any support.

      Dennis Saunders congratulations my dear!!! My great Auntie lost her leg. She was so nervous at first. And I’ll tell you when she got her leg she actually ran a marathon! She got 17th place at age 54. That was back in the early 80’s. She had a special leg that was in testing and used for the first time. I was quite young so I don’t really know the functionality and difference... but I was so proud of her! She was a go getter type of person. And when she lost her leg she felt a bit trapped. I remember her saying to me. “The sky is the limit, I can walk again!” Cheering and crying. I cried too! She trained for 2 years and ran that marathon! She had so many things happened to her and her husband. She passed away at the tender age of 74 to cancer. She fought this cancer from her 30’s. Watching this brought back such wonderful memories of her! What an inspirational woman she was!
      I’m so happy to read your comment!
      They sky is the limit, and beyond!

      donkay Interesting comment! Actually, you do feel your steps. The vibration of hitting the ground feeds back up the body, and you learn very quickly how to interpret different surfaces - gravel, pavement, carpet, etc. - based on the way they feed back. Also, given a lot of time and practice, you can develop the ability to interpret extremely small changes in the surface of whatever you're walking on. I've had my below-knee prostethic since I was an infant, and I can tell when I step on something as small as a coin. Just takes practice and learning how to tune in in a different way 😊

    That’s awesome. I have almost the same leg. Does yours squeak yet. I have to wear shoes one size big because after time my prosthetic foot started squeaking when I walked ..so hard to be a stalker when you’re squeaking every step 😎😂

    • @lariler2
      @lariler2 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You need the tool to pop the rubber foot off. On mine if the sock that goes over the carbon foot is worn or shifted so it allows the inner parts or the shaft to rub against the rubber it will squeak.

    Did the height/length of the prosthetic leg have to be adjusted? It appeared to be a little long, causing a hip drop.
