Another fun tip! When your on that screen with the orange, if you press and hold the home button for another 5-10 seconds it will bring up yet another screen with even MORE options to customize stuff. Fun fact. Thought you should know.

Perfect, now i know what to press to inspect a used Honda accord before buying.
There’s another screen to get into after you hold those three buttons, so after that press and hold the home button and it gets you into another screen to mess around with. I did the audio settings and turned off the pf setting to make music sound much better, you can always put it back on if you don’t like it but just thought I’d share that info with you.

maybe i'm weird but I always read my owners manual as well as the factory service manual....thats how I found the HVAC self diagnosis function in my CRV.
I’m sure the dealer uses this to inspect cars when you turn them in after a lease.
I worked at a dealership for 3 years and we don’t do this when getting a leased back at least not at Nissan

Expected you to click the camera adjustment. You can do the similar thing on the older civic with the I mid display and go through the settings to activate your rear camera while driving. Really useful if you have tinted windows and drive a manual

Awesome thx my screen has been messing up a lot on my second one know I can check it out better myself instead of trying to get pictures of it when it resets while I’m driving all the time.
What about a hidden menu to play videos on the 2021 pilot?
I was reading something about the Civic, and it looks like Honda is still sticking to the same design when they redesigned it in 2016 with minor changes. My friend was going to get it, but he wanted a full refresh. I'm guessing people like that design so Honda doesn't want to fully refresh it. For the 2020 Civic Hatchback its pretty much the same design, they haven't come out with the Sedans yet. I just though of sharing that.

Extra hidden menu ... when inside the "Detail & Information System" menu, hold Home button for 6-8 seconds (or until beeps) and opens another layer of hidden menus.

I know you could use an see the backup camera on screen while driving..but u cant play the radio while its in that mode..press return button to go back to home screen for regular use or shut off car and when turned back on it also goes back to regular use.. ✊😎

Wish there was a hidden satellite radio feature in there somewhere. Cant believe the 1.5 sport doesn't come standard. Same infotainment system. Figured out the hidden remote start just by upgrading the key fob.
How did you upgrade the key fob?
Have to go to the dealership and buy the one with the remote start feature for the higher models, or buy online. Then get the dealership to program for your car, or I guess a locksmith could maybe do it. The feature is built into the car, but they dont want you to know it. I guess to buy a higher end model, stupid but it works.
I just purchased key fob from hondapartsguys.com 58.63 + 8.91 shipping. Got it in 4 days. Part number 72147-TV-A01. I did not give them my vin #. Getting it programmed next week.
u can get the keyfob cheaper from oem dealers online. and look for any locksmith in your area to program it for u for a decent price. don’t go to the dealership, they quoted me more than $300 for the key and programming.
H. Accord Generation 13-17 have similar menu. More interesting options like DSP, ANC and operation restriction settings are displayed if you long press "Self Diagnosis Mode" menu

That’s nice to know but I really wouldn’t want to inadvertently disable an important setting which would require me to have to got to the dealership to have system resynchronized.

I would first disconnect the battery for 30 minutes. See if that helps. If they come back you need to scan the system to see what the issue is.

There’s a lot more on the screen to adjust than that.I’d hold down the menu button again u can take away driver distraction setting and play TH-cam and Netflix while driving. I did that to my Ridgeline

I want to be able to root the Android OS in the infotainment system. That way I could install whatever .apk files I want. I know that is possible with the Civic and CR-V but near as I can find, not the Accord.

I’m not positive on that. I know it’s loud. I would think there might be a fuse. Check under the fuse box and see if any are labeled as chime. Could be one there.

I have a 2018 Sport 2.0. Anyways, does anybody know if there is a way to turn on the Navigation? Not through the phone. Also the TPS sytem? The Sport will only tell you that your air pressure is low. There is no display showing the tire pressure of each tire. It sucks, you have to check all the tires pressure with a tie gauge. Come on Honda!

Think the higher trims have it. But to make it work you would need a sensor in each wheel that relays the info. I believe the lower trims don’t have those.
Mario Moreno I believe that Honda only uses a passive system now for tire pressure detection. It monitors the wheel speeds for any deviation overtime - cheaper and less complicated than the older systems.
Mario if you rotate the tires the low tire pressure can also come on. I did a tire rotation and the low tire pressure came on, I check all 4 tires everything okay. So what you do is go to calibrate TPMS and that fixes that issue.
Only the Touring and Ex-L models come with Navigation for 2018-2019 models. If you have a sport or any other trim, navigation only through android/apple car play or if you have Honda install navigation at an extra cost.
Any idea of how to turn off the horn alarm that sounds two times before turning the car on, i have a 2018 accord 2.0
I bought a 2020 accord hybrid to be a Lyft driver and I had a passenger tell me you can instal apps like lyft onto the car. He showed me where to navigate in the menus but not enough to actually do it. Any idea how to install apps onto the accord, like lyft? I’ve seen people instal games and video apps too. Being able to watch Netflix on the hud would be cool.

Do you know what the church bell chime means? There is also another chime that sounds like the chime on an airplane when right before they illuminate the fasten seatbelt light.

It’s so random I don’t know when I should video it. I saw a thread that everyone was talking about it and the last person went to the stealership and says it was because of loose battery cables. I’m going to the stealership tomorrow morning I will ask them what it could be.
The 2020 lx dont have this option. The head unit is very limited to what you can do with it. Only useful option I found and used is the bluetooth, cause the radio SUCKS.... and everything basically has to be done over your phone. 🤦♂️

This is cool but I can’t find anywhere to fix my Bluetooth. When I go to normal Bluetooth to turn it “ON” it never registers. It’s in a permanent “OFF” mode and this sucks because I can’t use Bluetooth at all anymore idk how it just decided to stay off.

3:21 so if it is picking up gps satilittes why cant our head units do navigation?? Since I bought mine new they have told me our cards dont have gps but clearly in this screen it is showing it does.
I’m sure it can but Honda is the one that allows what it can do.
The tech and specs are already built in the head units. All the head units on all trims are the same. Honda just blocks it. Just like how they block the remote start on the LX and sports 1.5 but you can bypass it by modifying an ex trim or higher key. I'm sure there us a community online that has a bunch of coders and hackers who mess around with the head unit to get more out of it, seeing its android base. I have done some things as well myself. Issue is honda will not fix anything you break and it isn't covered under the warranty so if you brick your head unit, you're screwed. I doubt Honda would reinstall the os on it, not free at least.

Android Auto or Apple Carplay will fix that for you. I'd love it to be built in though. My wifes 2012 Lincoln has on board Navigation FFS.

I don’t think so. That’s a legal disclaimer that I’m sure Honda would make permanent with their headunits.
Great video! Unfortunately some say that enabling developer mode may cause problems, didn’t have any for months then recently got a blank screen. Everything works, touch screen seems functional since it has sound feedback. Carplay connects too. It’s just that the screen is blank. Any tips? What’s the fuse for the radio btw?
Thanks bro. If you are having issues I would disconnect the battery for 30 minutes. It helps reset everything if there are glitches.
Check if in developer options, keeping the screen on while charging (when vehicle is on) is selected. My screen would turn off after a minute and found the solution

No. You would have to physically change the actual led which would require soldering the light in.
2019 Honda Accord LX models unfortunately don’t have this option. But there is a way to get into the diagnostic menu - press the power button, and numbers 1 & 6. It takes you to a similar menu to the one in this video, the only problem im having is that when you change a setting in this mode it will automatically default back next time you turn the car on. None of the settings save that you switch in diagnostic mode. Anyone having any similar issues?

If you don’t have an ex model, you would need a lot of parts that it wouldn’t be cost effective.

It would be not only the handles but the wire harnesses and computer that controls the locking functions so when you walk away it knows how far you are. It would cost about $2500 for it when the ex can be bought for less than that from a sport

The 1.5 sport is based of the lx. The 2.0 sport is based of the ex.

What kind of changes are you looking for?
There are settings on the vehicle that can’t be changed unless the Parking brake is engaged. The same thing happens with Apps like Google Maps, that won’t let you type in an Address unless the parking brake is engaged. There’s gotta be a way to bypass this setting.

When you press your brake does it make a weird noise when in park? I can hear the brake when I'm parked and feel it in the shifter. It will actually move the shifter if I press and release the brake in park. Or am I crazy and this is normal lol
Lol. You mean you feel a little pulse sort of? That’s normal. It’s the mechanism that makes it so you have to push the brake before shifting out of park. Even my older accords did it. 👍🏻

I know they immediately void warranty if you just turn on developer settings. Tempted to anyway since Honda wants to claim all the shit wrong with my 2.0T EX-L isn't covered by the warranty anyway. 🤷
I'm sure that any setting you change it will be logged in the computer. Just going to this menu without actually changing anything shouldn't void any warranties.
Hey jon slightly off topic but does your apple CarPlay work? Mine always cuts off or ends up not working at all. Called Honda techs and they told me to bring it in for service

First thing is are you using an original Apple cable? Then are you running the last way software? If you are I would try rebooting the display. I have a video on it and then reboot the phone and try again.

Thanks. I’m sure there’s a way but I don’t know what all the codes are. And if you go into that screen with the engine running it has another slew of options. You would have to know what all these codes mean and I’m sure you could do it somehow.
@@HondaJon It would be a nice capability. There are times when I am trying to get in close to something and the extra viewpoint would be a big help. Like the backup camera, but for the front. [FWIW, I also am going to look into tapping the video from the front and rear cameras - see if I can hook it to a recorder (looped), rather than having to install an additional dashcam.]

@@HondaJon Hi - I totaled my 2018 Touring 2.0 about 5 months ago (I have front & rear view cameras showing the event- kinda scary) replaced it with a Benz GLC 300 - thanks for all your vids on the Accord All air bags deployed - lane keep assist did not work - maybe I was going too fast :)

How can i make it to when i have the window lock on i (the driver) can continue to control all the windows without having to unlock them? Its very annoying when my kids get in and mess with the windows, plus the front passenger having control with the lock on also would be nice
That would be nice. I feel the same. That would require splicing wires and honestly not worth the chance of messing something up. They are on a circuit so you would have to make the drivers independent.
@@HondaJon Yea it was more of a comment pointing out my frustration with it, every other automaker makes it to where the driver still controls all the windows. Its funny how when you go through the settings there is actually a window selection but nothing to change when you select it 🤷♂️

I’m sure you could but the cost wouldn’t make it worth it. With the wiring and unit alone it would be cheaper to get the higher trim.

@@HondaJon From the dashboard display. It was right under the D(drive) and temperature but now trip mileage is there. I just want the total miles of the car back
Just cycle through the options from the steering wheel. It should be on the left side. You can cycle though trip a and trip b and then odometer.

Left of the steering wheel there is a button for trip meter. It goes to trip A,B and then mileage .

Honda Jon That would be sweet if indeed we would be able to have access to that. So far only the touring models have an available turbo meter but only when switched to the sport setting.
I have it as well. The manual transmission don’t get it. I wish I could have it on without being in sport mode. Maybe there’s a way🤔
You would have to get a Ktuner or Hondata to display that.
Purchase the OBDlink MX+ on amazon. It uses an app on your phone to display a digital or analog gauge.

Did you know that holding the unlock button on the remote will roll down all 4 windows??
And open sunroof if equipped
It will roll down all mirrors but it doesnt put them back up.
and if you put the key in the lock, turn and hold it will roll the windows back up without starting the car

Yeah definitely changes the look instantly. I’ve yet to see plasti dip look all even and same finish. The glass black vinyl looks amazing. The main thing is to really clean the wheel before you start. Definitely use like a Windex or something like that to strip any wax or oil an allowed to dry completely. For the price you can’t beat it

Unfortunately there isn’t. I wish there was. Not sure why they would make it in kilometers.
Oh that sux beyond words and anyone i mention it to says you must be nuts and just missing something it cant be. Like who woulda thunk of a car that let you know in exact # how fast you were traveling ? Wouldn't insurance companies prefer you were aware of your exact speed as well ?
With this little trick display option, I see unit check as a second option there. Can you tell us what’s there and see if that would change the digital speedometer from kph to mph if possible?

As a Honda tech myself the customer should stay out of this screen. Its for technician diagnosis and module setup. Its not in the owners manual because the customer should not be there

We should know about stuff like this 1 because we own it . 2 because I can't speak for everyone but I'm more technically inclined with this car then any of the techs at my local dealer I was alble to diagnose the audio problem I was having because of this screen and I didn't have to bring it to a dealer and pay them $2,000 to fiddle around with shit they probably didn't know any of those it literally took them three days to come up with the reason why my car kept getting driver mitigation failure was because get this the front Bosch sensor was dirty LOL I laughed so hard that's what you get when you get a technician these days 8n 24 hours I diagnosed it to a electronic brake sensor failurepaid for the part myself and replaced it and then it's been working ever since when I told this to Honda and that I would be reporting it nationally they instantly said we would like to reimburse you for the parts LOL because their technicians were too fucking retarded actually do anything worth wild other than clean the sensor

There are even more hidden options if you hold the HOME button once initially entering the first hidden menu.
