I actually did this myself and here’s the best method. I ordered the key fob from an online oem dealer, i don’t recommend getting it programmed by a Honda dealership I live in southern Cali and the prices are outrageous they range from $145-240 depending on the dealership. The best option is getting a mobile locksmith and they will program it for 1/3 of the price.
This still works. I just got it done at Honda, today December 21 of 2023, on my base model 2020 Accord. I'm beyond happy that I don't have to go outside to start my car in the winter anymore. I also get all my service work done at Honda as well.

That's cool man. I had remote start on my Civic Touring and I honestly never used it. And I live in Canada. Kinda pointless if the heated seats don't come on, especially with those ice-cold leather seats. So I got myself an LX and the cloth seats are never cold...or at least not as cold as the Touring's leather seats. Sometimes common sense is a better life-hack than spending extra money for features that look nice on paper but are useless in actuality.
Hey I have to say thank you for this post. I have been back to my dealership numerous times to get a aftermarket remote start and I’m being told it isn’t a compatible unit for the car. So now I have sent this video to the salesman that I made my purchase through. Please believe I’m going to the dealership first thing in the morning. Once again thank you!!!
Just saw this video last night and happened to have an oil change scheduled today for my 1.5L sport. Anyway, the honda tech already knew about this and I paid 85 for the new key fob and 100 to program it. Works just like my EXL factory remote start. Not bad for $185.00
@@N44876 I think most cars today come with keyless Entry. when I say keyless entry I mean you can lock and unlock car from the key fob. it doesent have smart entry like some of the higher models where there are sensors on the door handle that unlock the doors automatically without using the key fob
Hey everyone! Just wanted to confirm that this DOES WORK. I bought the key from Hondaparts for $60.00. I scheduled an appointment with my local Honda dealer and crossed my fingers they wouldn't ask any questions about the fob. Long story short, no questions were asked, they charged $60 to program it, and it worked! Also, for anyone wondering, your old fobs will still work. The service guy was walking out with me to make sure both fobs worked. As we are walking up to the car I attempted the remote start, it worked, and I thanked him for putting remote start in my car. His mind was blown to say the least. As I'm driving away he marched in surely telling his team what just happened. Thanks for this amazing video!
“We’re gonna hack it” lol! When I get my Honda Accord sport 1.5 next year I’m gonna ask if they will include a remote start key fob and program it for free when I negotiate on the price.
slickpanther06 I asked them to include remote start when I purchased mine and they told me there is no factory remote starter available. I wish I knew this when I got mine and would have made them do it
This is a great video! Hopefully corporate is okay with this. You should do more videos like this, just like College Hills Honda and their install/hack videos.
@@bigmacsandsunsets it is. I tried to modify my Honda as soon as I got it out the dealership(ran my ideas with sales rep) and he said. Basically the only thing you can do to not void your warranty is get rims. No updating lights, no exhaust... I was like WTF, they want you to buy the most expensive model.
@@geokiller789 true, but the thing is, the minute you get your vehicle serviced by dealership(as i do always) oil change. They do a 100 point inspection and the minute they see that something "is not stock" they stop inspection and let you know. From something as simple/small as led indoor lights.

I’ve been a honda salesman here in Utah for 1 1/2 years and I’ve owned my silver accord sport since December 2017. I’m completely shocked. Walking over to parts to buy the key right now.
I can confirm this works! My service tech was very avid on me not doing it he was like “your car doesn’t have a remote start transmitter it makes no sense just to add a button you’re wasting your money” My whole dealership couldn’t believe it lol
Can you ask someone at your dealership if this has a possibility to void your warranty on your car? I really want to do the same but I need to make sure it does not void my warranty.
Good thing it worked out. I have the 2.0t and I only use it when it gets below 60°. California has cold weather too, just the other night it got down to 47 and the inside was cold AF. I can see people using this all around the Country, especially where I'm from, Chicago.
I think we can agree, over the long run, if there’s something beneficial to customers to get more out of their products, it builds trust and goodwill. Building value is sometimes more valuable in business over quick dollars
They can sell more key fob tho, and also can charge you 0.5-1hr work time. I think they make roughlt the same by selling you a $2500 more expensive car. On top of that some potential Camry/Altima buyers might buy a Accord instead for this hidden feature.
Most car sales are impulsive. The people that’s will benefit from this is the hand full of Car people or people who do research on they next buy. This would hurt business
Did it today and can confirm that it works perfect. Thank you for saving me time and money! I missed this feature from trading in my old civic coupe touring.
Glad you found this video helpful and exciting. Do me a favor and drop a like and Pay it forward by sharing this with anyone you know with a new Accord Sport so they also get the most out of it!
@@EdwardYourHondaManTomilloso Another question and something try. Will the upgrade now give the Honda link app access to use remote start? Does it show up in the app as an option to use?
@@dgillsco no it won't app was not designed to work with the sport model there is APK files missing on the sport model entertainment system now with that being said if you were extremely handy in Android hacking you could technically extract the APK file from a ex model and then add it to a sport which is not easy to do considering they are locked down with locked bootloaders so it's not a simple task at all but technically and theoretically that would work
I went to my dealership and they told me that they would program the remote but it would void the warranty on the car. Anyone else having this problem or is it just the dealership I went to.
Just buy an ex key fob at the parts then go into the service department and say can you program this. If he says the new key looks different say, the parts guy said it dont matter
That is total BS! The only thing that would void the warranty are doing upgrades that affects the engine, drive train transmission, etc. This is just freaking programming a new key with OEM fobs, something this car is designed to do when one loses the key or wanted an set of keys. Go for it!
it's hilarious to see Honda employees get all excited. Our local locksmith was selling OEM fobs for 40.00 ,and 30 bucks to program back in 2018. It's common knowledge that software is built into mostly all cars..

I just got it done! 22 honda accord 1.5 sport. I ordered the key fob off of Amazon for $35. I don't know if it matters but someone said open my fob and get match that serial number or model number with the new one that you are about to order so I did! I just ordered the part. My Honda dealer here in Texas kept insisting that it was not available for my vehicle. They are trying not to do it but I ordered it online and will take it to them when I receive it. I am not taking no for an answer. I will get this done. Its been cold here lately and this will help me tremendously. Will update when completed.
Works for Hybrid the key also! The Android head unit screen is also an actual android tablet that has an open source SDK, so you can add TH-cam, Netflix and Googel browser, etc....There is also a hack to make the Led front and back running lights go sequential (Knight Rider or Psylon Style) for turn signal use. Super sick!
As far as my knowledge you are correct on the head unit being an Android tablet basically which can be cracked and hacked problem being is bootloader locked and as far as I know it has not been done yet older model Hondas have had their android-based head unit cracked but not the 2018 or 19 Accord yet I could be wrong on this but I'm pretty sure and things like TH-cam Netflix and Google browser cannot be loaded in until after the bootloader has been unlocked and just FYI for anyone thinking about digging into this without any knowledge you can seriously screw up your system if you don't do it correctly so don't attempt unless you have an expert to level in bootloader unlocking and rooting
hey I just want to confirm that works on the sport , because i did it today, I was nervous that maybe the people in the dealership won't like to do it , but they helped me amazing great friends

Just saw this video last night and happened to have an oil change scheduled today for my 1.5L sport. Anyway, the honda tech already knew about this and I paid 85 for the new key fob and 100 to program it. Works just like my EXL factory remote start. Not bad for $185.00
Glad this video helped! Do us a favor and hit the like button and share it out so more Accord sport owners know about this! Pay it forward!
Does the sport have keyless entry or auto lock?
@@N44876 yes it has keyless Entry and does automatically lock after a minute or two.
@@jmmzz8941 wow I heard the 1.5 sport doesn’t have those features???
I wish I knew this when I got mine and would have made them do it
Bummer.
Thank you so much! I just had locksmith program my 2022 Accord Sport 1.5T. We have remote start now! 👍🏻🤘🏻
Is there a way to make the AC come on when remote start is activated ?
@@cmyk71i own 2 hondas and from what I noticed when it’s remote started it automatically turns on ac or heater depending on the weather outside.
This is a great video! Hopefully corporate is okay with this. You should do more videos like this, just like College Hills Honda and their install/hack videos.
I have one and Honda doesn't offer to put one in so you would have to go third party like I did. Just wish I would have seen this first, SMH
Couldn’t belive it just picked up two keys and still had the two factory ones still work amazing special for winter days thanks a lot
Glad you found value in this video!!! Pay it forward and drop a like on the video and share it to any accord owner you know!
I'm afraid the dealership won't want to do it !!! but I really want remote start
Yup, they will probably say something like, IT WILL VOID YOUR VEHICLES WARRANTY!🤔
DANIEL ALEXANDER that’s annoying
@@bigmacsandsunsets it is. I tried to modify my Honda as soon as I got it out the dealership(ran my ideas with sales rep) and he said. Basically the only thing you can do to not void your warranty is get rims. No updating lights, no exhaust... I was like WTF, they want you to buy the most expensive model.
@@MER1CA_1st mods only void the warranty if the part is determined to be the cause of the failure of something esle
@@geokiller789 true, but the thing is, the minute you get your vehicle serviced by dealership(as i do always) oil change. They do a 100 point inspection and the minute they see that something "is not stock" they stop inspection and let you know. From something as simple/small as led indoor lights.
I did mine today here in Minneapolis MN and it works price ranges from 170 to 260 so you have to shop around i went hopkins honda dealer got key fob around 90 dollars and went brookdale honda dealer to program about 65 dollars total 155 Thanks in a million

@@stanworthington8767 what dealership did you go to?? I need to do this and I'm in Utah!
Can you ask someone at your dealership if this has a possibility to void your warranty on your car? I really want to do the same but I need to make sure it does not void my warranty.
Kait Loyal it definitely won’t! The only thing that would ever void your warranty is if you make any changes that effect the drive train and what not
Karlie Thomas I work at LHM Honda in Murray (:
I hope you guys took care of the tech, thank you don't pay the bills.
Nice!!! Hope you guys don’t get canned by Honda lol
Still here :)
Your Honda Man i live in Miami is there anyway i can set up an appointment for sometime in January to do this? Willing to drive up love the video
I was just about to go to the dealer and have this done. Thanks for the Video!!!!
Good thing it worked out. I have the 2.0t and I only use it when it gets below 60°. California has cold weather too, just the other night it got down to 47 and the inside was cold AF. I can see people using this all around the Country, especially where I'm from, Chicago.
got my 1.5 sport back in april .....will be getting my fob from ebay then ill moonwalk my a$$ to a dealer to get the prog. u the goat
Lol
did they program it to work?

Do you know if this works for a 2022?
Do you know if this works for a 2022?
That definitely works, I did a 2019 Honda with my Autel and it worked
Love the passion you guys show in your vids
Thank you so much! Please spread the word about the channel
Did this on my wifes 2019 Insight lx. Bought the fob and had it programmed, and it worked perfectly. All in was about $130
Wouldn’t your dealership hate to expose this as they’ll lose upgrade sales?
Congrats! Glad I could help. Pay it forward by dropping a like and sharing this video out!
I’m at the dealership right now trying to do it to my 2018 1.5 lx accord
Wish me luck
How'd it go?
Your Honda Man they told me it worked! I’m just waiting to get it back. I had to get my oil change too.
Its working perfectly. That's a yes for LX
It's true it works I just had it done in an 18 Accord sport 1.5l. I bought the remote online and had my local dealer program them and it works!
Thanks for confirming!
Works on the accord lx as well. Just not the sport. Tried it today. I work for Honda, upstate NY
Joseph Judge where?
It doesn’t void the warranty?
@@slickpanther06 no it doesn't void the warranty. The car is not being altered. Only adding an additional key fob

@@EdwardYourHondaManTomilloso Another question and something try. Will the upgrade now give the Honda link app access to use remote start? Does it show up in the app as an option to use?
same here!
Following
@@dgillsco no it won't app was not designed to work with the sport model there is APK files missing on the sport model entertainment system now with that being said if you were extremely handy in Android hacking you could technically extract the APK file from a ex model and then add it to a sport which is not easy to do considering they are locked down with locked bootloaders so it's not a simple task at all but technically and theoretically that would work
It works and it was a shock to a salesman. My wife took the car from me after I had it done.
I went to my dealership and they told me that they would program the remote but it would void the warranty on the car. Anyone else having this problem or is it just the dealership I went to.
I figured that would happen
They only saying that because it takes the focus away from the Sport 2.0 trim and higher smdh everything is done through Honda lol
No it wouldn't they are just trying to scare u
Sucks for those that paid $2500+ for a sunroof.
They also got blindspot monitoring, heated seats, smart key entry with walk away auto lock, rear ventilation, and cross traffic monitoring,
All the stuff Honda Man mentioned and the better engine.
Greg F. So is every single 4 cyl Honda ever made
@Greg F. try driving a newer impala 4 cyl, talk about weak engine.
It’s turbocharged and amazing
Only need a scan tool, that most repair shops have, and use the "add a key" function. It works perfectly. No need for the dealer or a lock smith.
Damn smh I honestly went with the 2.0 because of the remote start 😒 and the smart key entry, didn’t care for the sunroof
Got em🤣🤣
You also got blind spot, heated seats, and don’t forget the 10 speed with the faster 2.0.
I do not think the smart entry worked on this, since it doesn’t have sensors on the doors
@@Alumnikiid 2.0t does have smart key entry. It has more features than the 1.5t
@@MAXED-TRUCKING I know, I meant the key works to remote start the 1.5 sport. However i do not think the proximity sensor in the key will work on the 1.5 sport.
I just had Honda in Tarrytown NY do mine while I was getting an oil change. I have a 2018 Sport and it works. Everyone there was super shocked. Thank you for this tip! Super happy to have remote start now.
Who would have a 1.5 Sport with an automatic?!? Nice hack, but save the manuals.
Im too lazy for manuals
What's the point of a manual on 1.5? It's slow as heck. If it's 2.0t, that's another story.

Question is...will the Honda dealers sell you a key remote that’s not designed for your model 🤔
MoNo K I ordered my oem remote keys off of eBay that comes with the remote start option so the only thing they have to do is program it so will see what happens
DJ FACA - Who gonna program it?
MoNo K I think my Honda deal-ship is gonna bs so I found a locksmith who can do it for $40 a key also I ordered mine on the Hondapartsguys.com they the cheapest ones for the oem
eBay charged me $99 per key so I canceled the order

I just got it done! 22 honda accord 1.5 sport. I ordered the key fob off of Amazon for $35. I don't know if it matters but someone said open my fob and get match that serial number or model number with the new one that you are about to order so I did! Its been cold here lately and this will help me tremendously. Will update when completed.
Looking forward to hearing back if it works for you!
Super sick!
Stewart Perthou that sounds awesome!!! ALL OF IT
Fill me in on how how to do this on a 1.5 sport?
