When you think you're on a green but you accidentally went to the top of a black diamond
Not possible here. There is nothing but black off of the tram. You go through several fences and past a few signs denoting this as double black/ extreme. He knew where he was going. Took stones to try it. I came very close one time to attempting Corbet's but it was thankfully shut down just before I got there. I'm too old.
I have skied and looked down it a few times. You don't have to ski it. There is a way out that is not very difficult. Jackson Hole is a great ski mountain that has it all.
Jackson labeled Corbet's as "CAUTION!" inside a yellow triangle, including others such as Tower 3 chute. Don't know if they still do it.
There was only one ski run I looked at in my skiing days and said no f'ing way! The run: cornice bowl at mammoth mountain

Also, it is tracked out. Like the guy just bounced right off. Not the right conditions at all for jumping into it like that

Reminder that as a skier you are always safer in the end being more forward, more aggressive. Had he just jumped in about 25 degrees more forward he could have simply skied it
out :-)

@@CrazyStranger11 video doesn't do corbets justice that spot wear that dude is stuck is basically vertical and pretty tight the only people who ride down it smoothly without falling are the ski patrol guys or literally kids who grew up there. By jumping out he kinda controlled his fall at least a little

2. The trick is to do a lil hop, rotate the skis beneath you, and when you land, LEAN FORWARD. attack that slope. My man did a pencil dive onto a 60deg slope, landed back-seated so far he was in the trunk, to the full sale. We all have moments like it.

When Jerry gets caught back-seat driving
Home boy just straight stepped off the mountain into open air.
That was really his only viable option at that point. He wasn't going to be able to climb back out, nor did it look like he could sidestep any farther down without having his skis slide out from under him.
In the first place he should have faced the mountain. Then he can ski around the bowl. You ski it like flushing the toilet. From his position his options where limited. I would have gradually fixed my body position. Adjust my edge angle till I got a little side skid going. Try to back up and create some space the then when I get low enough or the point of no return. I’d go forward and air out to the steep slope. Rather then going into the blown out bomb hole. Personally. But honestly In those condition I probably wouldn’t have tried but bully for him. He dropped it and looks like he gets to go for a sled ride to the toasty warm hospital.
Go down that way and if something gets in your way TURN!
