Transferring MR to book aspirational hilton properties like the WA Cabo or Maldives can provide tremendous value. I've used a 40% transfer bonus to book the Waldorf in Cabo and it came out to be around 6 cents per Amex MR. 7 nights in Cabo was around $15k and I had to transfer 250k MR to book it with the bonus.
Ohhh that’s an awesome redemption! Especially considering 5th night free right? I love that, I’ll maybe do that one day, however I’d love to stay in a Hyatt in Cabo one day but we’ll see. Thanks Nameless, love to hear that value!
Yes please Anthony A video about Charles Schwab and how it works. I am about to apply to one and thank you for your channel I learned so much from your videos
Thank you Mr Meneya for saying that! Ok cool, I will make an updated video! In the meantime if it helps, I did do one when I was way less experienced about a year ago, but should still apply. th-cam.com/video/rQWGjrraw8Y/w-d-xo.htmlsi=2eTzZaQidUIZHajH Thank you again for saying that, it means a lot!
Don't count on your Hilton food and beverage credit stacking on top of your FHR breakfast credit. If the property offers you both, that's the exception not the norm. The rest of the Hilton/FHR stacking should be okay though. Great use of credit card benefit leverage though!
I think that’s a good way to put it, I always put it closer to 50/50 depending on the property, and whether or not a person tries to double dip at the front desk etc. Same with the points but I’ll make sure to try to stack everything. I guess I’ll do an update video once I go there. But for sure Shadow, good points and very true, these things sometimes are not one size fits all unfortunately, I want more credits haha!
Thank you for saying that Chad!! Yes for sure, I’ve done it for Hilton, Marriott and Hyatt now and get those good base points from doing so! Thanks again Chad, happy stacking haha!
That's going to be awesome stay at the Waldorf! And you'll be taking advantage of all of what FHR has to offer. Very cool Tony - great way to use your Platinum perks and benefits!
Anthony, why not just get the AMEX Hilton Aspire card and use the FNA cert at the Waldorf Astoria DC? You get all the Diamond benefits including upgrades, if available, food benefit and late check out. So, that FNA is worth $621. Using FHR, you are getting $200 (FHR credit) + $100 (Food credit) + $62 (MR points) + $55 (Hilton Points) = $417. So, Apples to apples, Hilton FNA is better by $204. Or, since you may be able to get more value for that FNA at a different WA, the effective cost of the stay is $204. That assumes you redeem the food credit, MR points and Hilton points at full value which is not always the case.
Oh for sure Jim, in all other cases, the Aspire would make so much more sense for me for this booking easily. Totally agreed. I just am trying to save as much as I can, so $550 would be a little rough right now, and also, I’m trying to focus like 95% on Hyatts this year with just this exception of this Waldorf. So yeah, I agree with you Jim, but most likely next year or after once I can deal with some higher annual fees for sure.
Yes I think so as well, luckily it’ll be heavily subsidized completely by the credits to offset that, but it’s for sure overpriced. I’m just excited to see that crazy hotel honestly haha. Good point and thanks for being here Alfckchung!
Absolutely love how you were able to get every single piece of value out of the FHR Credit as much as you possibly could. Love optimizing the bonus on the Amex Checking Account to cover most of the cash price too, haha. Great video as always Anthony!
Thank you so much Matt!! Yes absolutely trying to stack as much as I can! I love FHR a lot honestly, and just said ehh why not ha. Thanks again Matt man!
People will always complain when you go against grain. A win is a win no matter how you get it. I just did this same strategy a few days ago for an upcoming stay. I think the best thing about booking an FHR stay is when you get to stack those Hilton or Mariott elite benefits.
Yes I think so, no matter what anyone does, it’s 50% wrong 😂 Absolutely! And ohh that’s awesome, where did you end up booking? Yep, it’s funny, the only Marriott points I have is from stacking FHR stays over the years haha. Thanks Mac as always for being here!!
Yooo this is fire! I respect the dedication to get the most value from that credit 😤 I’ve become obsessed with hotels and finding different and unique ones to stay at, and you just added this WA in DC to my list! Also with all this hype around the FHR credit I might need to get the platinum and try it!
Let’s go Codyyy!! Yes, I’ve always wanted to stay here, and said you know what, I’m doing it, why not haha. And maybeeeee, FHR is my favorite thing ever. I know Marriott, Hyatt, Hilton etc have their own programs but I’m not as familiar yet.
Let’s go Kura!! Yes for sure, I knew you’d get the cash out option hahaha. And thank you for that! I saw you mention in the discord it made you think a little with the points stacking and paying cash etc. So I’m happy to play a small role in that ha. Thanks again for being here Kura!!
If in the states, I’ve only hit up 3 so far. This Waldorf will be one, Savannah Thompson, and Ballantyne in Charlotte. Thanks Jacob for being here man!
I was happily surprised the points that I received on $150 Hilton Surpass booking using the 2X points option. And I still have the $50 credit coming. A nice toe in the water 🌊 with my first Hilton stay! Indoor pool and jacuzzi were nice as well.
Ohhh very nice, so you got the base points and then the 2x per $1 for booking right? And heck yeah, $50 credit to offset, that’s awesome for a first Hilton stay wow! Thanks Fog as always!!
Never the hair!! You have the Flyest hair in the Credit Card Game!! This video was awesome! You are freaking hilarious! It was one hell of a redemption! You nailed Hilton like The Boss that you are! Wepaaaaaaaaa! I’m going to steal this and take Terry one day!
I just transferred 22K MR points to Schwab Platinum with invest with rewards. Picked up AI stock for medical devices... Looking forward to see it continue to climb.
Ohhh interesting! Which stock was that btw? That’s awesome, yes you are one of the few using your points for investing and I love to see the growth! Thanks Jazzy!
Yep you said you had a great time when you went, I’m excited to finally go there myself! And from everything I’ve seen, seems like 50/50 but I think it skews because a lot of people dont ask for the dining credits to be added on top of the stay, since depending on the hotel and how you book, it may not be automatic. But Luke said he’s gotten it stacked every time he’s done it so it depends, I’ll just make sure try my hardest at the front desk to make sure I have everything hahaha. Thanks Sledge as always man!!
Yeah as Luke said, I’ve seen it stack for most people, I just think people don’t ask the front desk because it’s not always automatic they put it under your account depending on the hotel and how you booked. Thanks Quoc and Luke!!
As always thanks for sharing your thought process. I enjoyed listening but no way would I have personally booked this. The credits back are good but in DC I would say $25 per person might get you a bottle water and a bag of chips per person at the Waldorf. I’m all for a good hotel, but I would wait for there to be an error fare, an amex offer or some other way to travel hack it on it before I do this personally. In addition, $60 breakfast is good but you’re in DC, hit the streets, hit the museums, find some local bars/places and save the $$ for adventure money.
So in my defense, on FHR, it was 25% off. Originally it was like $750 a night 💀 But also also, a couple of days later, it went down another 10-15%, so I had Amex travel cancel and rebook, so I really got it 35% off around a bout. Also yeah I guess $50 is nothing there, won’t argue with that until I get there haha. And luckily to your last point, it’s my last day so I’m hoping to have hit everything up by then, and then I’ll just 🛌 in the hotel 😬😂😬 But good point Key as always, I love your ideas and advice!
This was actually by how i view it, a very solid way to book. I think though and could be mistaken. I havenet ever got hilton base points when booking not with hilton direct. Sobif using a 3rd party you may wanna check the accuracy of getting those points. I have only ever recieved when bokking direct with hilton
Yep so from everything I’ve ever researched, a lot of people were 50/50 on getting the base points as well, but a main thing to consider was a lot of those people also didn’t make sure at the front desk to have them re-add the loyalty number or just to make sure it pops up, after that, usually they got the points + dining credits etc. However agreed, it’s not 100% of the time as well so depends on the hotel itself at times. Thanks Woodzy man as always!
Nope, that’s one of the crazier things, and another video I have planned. It’s not taxed since it’s technically a rebate. There’s also some crazy stuff apparently you can do with the Roth but a lot of conjecture. Thanks Ninja and Candice!
Yes so once I complete the stay, I’ll earn the base points as if I paid direct with Hilton, which should be 11k Hilton points after the 80% Gold status boost! Thanks Vicki!
I actually stayed there when it was the Trump and it was stunning. Honestly the pictures don't do it justice when you walk into the hotel. Incredibly good Old Fashioned and other cocktails at the bar, a stone's throw from the White House and amazing service. What else can you ask for in a 5-star hotel?
Yep! Funny, I noticed all videos including it mention that fact, so I wanted to be different and not mention it haha. I probably will when I actually stay there though. And wow Gibran!! That does seem amazing, and for real, so close to the White House! Thank you again Calby + Gibran!!
