These games were fun. I remember beating Jungle Strike after weeks of trying and failing as a kid. I had to hype myself up after a few days break each time before trying again. It's really repetitive with some pick up/drop off missions at times but when getting to blow up so much shit made it worth while.
Edit: In case you were wondering what the chat was talking about, there is a "secret" co-pilot you can find on Chapter 1 who isn't on the radar/map. He can shoot further making combat a bit easier. You can sneak into range where the enemy won't attack you if you are very careful and methodical about it. I think you need to use the password after the mission to select the new co-pilot. I loved this series growing up! I remember my dad laughing at the ending with George Bush shaking your hand... Jungle and Urban are also good... Don't forget the PS 1 also has sequels Soviet Strike and Nuclear Strike which are also quite good! But they definitely get harder with each sequel. I could never beat the last mission of Nuclear Strike.
"FutureCop LAPD" is actually the sixth game in the series (originally named "Future Strike"), but they ended up changing a LOT about the game to make it a separate title.
Hi Mike! I had Desert Strike on Sega Mega Drive when i was a kid but found it too hard so i just watched my old man play it. Great game, What a Classic. 😙👌
This was one of the games our small group of gamers pulled all nighters on. Great game design, nothing like it back in the day. Still have good memories of those days playing this series of games.
This is easily one of the hardest in the series. The lowest armor, and half of the enemies could do 100 Damage per hit. But it was still an amazing game. It took me forever as a kid to beat this without dying.
The nuclear power plant in the 4th level was protected by two radar stations according to the mission info. That's why it's defenses were so strong. I think the enemies were doing double damage.
Somehow we ended up playing Jungle Strike as kids and not knowing about this. Still loved it none the less. I kind of like that there is no music in the combat action, it almost makes it more intense.
I use to have this for snes, loved this game. Never could beat that last level, for whatever reason I would waste all my ammo on that plane and it would never blow up.
Great stream Mike! I enjoyed it a lot although this time I lurked. But nice sometimes just hearing it in the background. For me this is energetic ASMR. You might also enjoy playing Desert Fighter. I borrowed it from my friend many years ago, I’ve still got the instruction manual somehow 😄you’re controlling a plane in that game and it’s on the SNES.
47:58 yes the game's Code is brilliantly made, but sad news about the main programmer in this game, after the unexpected groundbreaking success of this game, EA sacked off the guy so he could not see the profits of his own creation... let's hope I'm wrong about that last part, but that's the version of the story I read somewhere... EA did the same thing with the brilliant creator of Road Rash
thats friggin hilarious i was just playing this game couple weekends ago. still holds up today! the p.o.w.'s =armor...very fun but difficult. thank you mr. Mike
Love these games. Jungle Strike is great too. It’s cool when you get to fly other things. Urban Strike was decent. Never tried any of the ones after that.
You missed Jake, he’s the best co-pilot, he’s the top MIA on the map of the first level! And destroy his crashed F-15! I think that’s what someone was trying to say after you completed the first level!
This game, and Resident Evil, had major influences on my life in ways I can't fully explain in a single TH-cam comment. While I vastly prefer the SNES version for the sound and music, the game itself is iconic. It also represent a time when EA didn't have the negative press it does today. I'm very happy you did a playthrough of this game, period. Fun note: The ship you take off from is FFG-7, _USS Oliver Hazard Perry._ _2/10 videos watched as penance._
Love this game. Also jungle strike. I have Soviet Strike for ps1 too not as cool though. I had Sega Channel as a kid an played this non stop with Contra HArd Corp
Geez, one of the chatters was right, that madman does look like a wrestling manager straight out of early 1990s WWF or WCW. Also how fitting that just in time for the theme of the game Mike got a haircut suited for a military career LOL As for the game...it is hard to tell. I see the love you and everybody else have for this game but I just...don't feel anything about it. I have never played it before but looking at it and seeing you play it...has not given me any drive to try it out. I just feel...nothing about it. I'd rather try out any of the other games you mentioned as your favorite Genesis games than this one and I cannot even tell why that is. I am glad that you enjoyed it though and that's the most important part. Games that still need a link on your Games I've Beaten On Stream page: -Zelda II: The Triforce Of Courage (NES Hacks)
My story with the strike-series was this: I played desert strike at a friends house on his amiga and is was so awesome that i went to a games-shop the next day and bought urban-strike for the snes. It is the worst version possible! MASSIVE slowdowns, lower field of view and a realy bad button-layout... Man.. I was pissed ;) especially when i saw urban-strike running smooth on megadrive/genesis when i played it at another friends house... His dad had all three of them...
This takes on more levels of funny if you play it after watching the Dictator.. I have Aladeen news and Aladeen news.. which do you want to hear first..

Yeah I want to try Jungle / Urban strike sometime later.
i agree these. was great games i only played the last two still love them to death. EA needs to bring it back
One of my all-time favorite Genesis games. I played it so much I could do everything in the first mission without the map.
Yeah I think it's one of my favorites too. I don't have it memorized though
@markmorten3712 No but I did the Jungle strike on the Sega.
Hack this game
Dony forget urban strike. On Sega Genesis .
I was literally just talking about this game
Same here

1:07:03 Mike's big rod reveal.
90s kids played this and collected Desert War trading cards...The 90s made war so awesome
Jungle strike, Desert strike, Urban strike, the Strike trilogy on Sega genesis and Stuper Nintendo
Watched your old Desert Strike run for 2nd time a few months ago. It's been one of the funniest streams ever! I'm glad to see you're trying again :)
Hi Mike! I had Desert Strike on Sega Mega Drive when i was a kid but found it too hard so i just watched my old man play it. Great game, What a Classic. 😙👌
So good Mike. Thanks for all the years and content.
This game brings back fond memories! Thanks Mike!
This was one of the games our small group of gamers pulled all nighters on. Great game design, nothing like it back in the day. Still have good memories of those days playing this series of games.
Cool let's do jungle strike and urban strike too!
20:00 Saved Rick Flair
18:32 that's what she said.
This is so rad and it brings back my memories from the 90's when playing this game at my best friend's house!!
This game was so good. I sucked at it but I would always want to start over and try again 😅
"Gentlemen. A madman is threatening the globe with nuclear apocalypse. Save the oil fields first!"
Seems on brand.
Genesis games I like: Decap Attack, Dick Tracey, Ghouls & Ghosts, Golden Axe 1 & 2, Flashback, Landstalker, Moonwalker, Quackshot, Revenge of Shinobi, Splatterhouse 2, Strider, Streets of Rage 1 & 2, Toejam & Earl 1 & 2
This is like Where's Waldo meets Jackal because of how you gotta spot people and zoom around
This guy is actually super funny and a real nerd =)
This is easily one of the hardest in the series. The lowest armor, and half of the enemies could do 100 Damage per hit. But it was still an amazing game. It took me forever as a kid to beat this without dying.
Loved this game.. spent months playing it. Also called the Sega hotline for help lol..
The nuclear power plant in the 4th level was protected by two radar stations according to the mission info. That's why it's defenses were so strong. I think the enemies were doing double damage.
Great stream, another one for the books
Love Desert Strike. Love this game. Thanks Mike!!!
Thank you for uploading so soon. I only saw the end of this stream when on twitch.
Yes! Your last desert strike stream was my favorite stream and now you stremed it again. Awsome.
Somehow we ended up playing Jungle Strike as kids and not knowing about this. Still loved it none the less. I kind of like that there is no music in the combat action, it almost makes it more intense.

Love these games. Jungle Strike is great too. It’s cool when you get to fly other things. Urban Strike was decent. Never tried any of the ones after that.
I want to hear Mike Matei say "Nobody wants to fucking be you" when people make comments like "I beat this when I was 10 years old".
You missed Jake, he’s the best co-pilot, he’s the top MIA on the map of the first level! And destroy his crashed F-15! I think that’s what someone was trying to say after you completed the first level!
Enjoyed the video Mike. You should check out the Super Strike Trilogy prototype for Sega cd.
Great video Mike . . . Let's see you beat Ghostbusters on Genesis next!
