Hi guys, it’s always wonderful to see you both working together. Even though you spent all this time together on a yacht you still want to be together on the land and work together to put the little red together. , keep up the good work guys keep loving each other. It’s hard to find someone that you have the same ambitions and desires in life. Cliff from Logan City, Queensland, Australia 🇦🇺, I’m on the big island 🏝️
Whoa! 7:45 you slipped that in there. You wouldn't think you could miss Garret getting a haircut, but I almost did! Boat looks almost as svelte as he does too.
Great job on the build of little Red! she's coming along nicely! Also love Garrett's interaction with the Bird! How Cool! Take care you two, and thank you for sharing!
NICE! 'glassin' yer tender, smokin' meat 'til it's tender, outstretching yer hand, as a bird trusts how yer tender, yer 7 times 70 more gooder than i *Mighty* Garrett. Well Done. 🙏🦉
Specials regards from Sevilla, South Spain, Andalucía💃🇪🇸🥂
I use rebar tie wire and it is steel. When you untie the wire cut one side close and leave the other end long. Get a car battery with a jumper cable. Beat a large size copper tubing flat. Place these short copper plates on the end of the jumper cables. When you tap these plates across the wire the wire begins smoking then pull the hot wire out of the epoxy. Steel is better than copper because it is stronger than copper and can be twisted tighter. Use safety glasses.
This was a great progress episode. I totally thought you were going to go and float it. Glad you didn’t. LOL. Keep up the great work. This project inspired another project for me refurbishing a 1960’s apache fibreglass 2 station row boat. Has a cement keel, (has rotted) and many holes through fibreglass… Your ambition for project is contagious, I swear.
Very nice, I think I could do that also. I am glad you have shown how to do it correctly, I can say I had a good teacher. I have followed you since you started Redaviva and I have not seen you miss one step to perfection during that time. What a joy it is to watch a team work together.
🇨🇦 Hi guys, your looking great and so is your new little baby boat, she is coming together nicely Glade to see your enjoying your work even though Garrett is so precise, gotta be Perfect +for sure! I’ve been following along on your journey and it’s great & very informative, looking forward to seeing your next video 🇨🇦❤️Cdn. Dave
Little Red looks fantastic so far. I gather you're gonna do a double layer of glass on the exterior, and another two ply of glass for the inside area. You're gonna ship her down to Mexico, jump on a plane, and be ready to receive L' Red when she arrives, right? ..Seems the simplest method to me - beats any other options from where I'm watching it come nicely together. I imagine when you're physically in harbor (wherever) or moored close to a harbor, L' Red will live in the davits, to avoid procurement by unauthorized scavengers. Best of luck..hope you're planning to head to South America, Caribbean, or out into the Pacific next, but ocean crossing might be tough with only a crew of two. You may have to pick up another shipmate somewhere along the way. Happy sailing!
It’s hard to tell l for sure with the camera distortion but it might be worth taking a look at the sheer line near the bow. It might need knocking down a little bit to keep it Eyesweet. I had to do that with my traditional build. Someone picked it up on mine and recommended I fix it or it would bug me forever. Best advice I got! Love the transom emulating hereschoffs brilliance. “Eyesweet” don’t worry about the plans! Cheers Chris from Tasmania.
Another educational and inspiring video! I do wish I had Garrett's patience and attention to detail. My constructions always seem a little rustic, but indeed strong!
Nice work! I expect you are already done with the fillets, but there is one thing that you could do to lessen the amount of sanding. When the thickened epoxy starts to gel and firm up, dip a gloved finger into denatured alcohol and use it to smooth out and clean up the thickened epoxy. Since you are using Thixo it might not be as necessary, but still a good tip to have in the toolbox.
Beautiful wok. Are you going to attach a stainless steel strip down the center of the hull all the way from the transom and up the stem to the breasthook to minimize any abrasion when running up on the beach? I think I personally would do that if I were building something like this beauty.
I don't know anything about fiberglass, but I didn't see you using a roller on the glass. I thought that was necessary to take out air bubbles and ensure a good lamination. I'm sure others will know better. The dingy is looking really nice.
Didn't the instructions tell you about wetting out the wood before applying the glass? The wood is very porous, and will suck up the resin as it's curing , leaving with what is called Dry-bond. Not noticeable at first, but will delam over time. it can often in the early stages by seeing bubbles and lifting.
Just realized there's not a slot for the daggerboard, not needed for this type of sailing dingy? Or do you cut it in later? Anyways, I enjoy watching the stitch & glue method. Getter done!!
"making her as tough as the rest of the crew"..... Don't you believe it. My experience says she will be tougher than the rest of the crew, much tougher. We built a 16 foot boat using the same method (and I might add with less care) around 2000, which we still use. We took that through conditions where she was still game but all of the crew could not and we had to slow way down so that the teeth in our head did not become powder. These stitch and glue boats can be amazingly tough. BTW fiberglass weighs, don't put too much on or it will be hard to lift.

Take all the time you need. Start a family, we'll be here. Know we feel you are our family. God bless.
Getting that through as hand luggage on the return flight to Mexico is going to be a challenge.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Terrific music choices to go with an always fun vid. Thank you.
Watching Garrett with the Thixo and the board reminds me of an artist with his palette. Superb !

I really enjoy watching this process. So does your winged friend. He knows where the cool people are ...

One of your best videos; very satisfying to watch. Watching you guys work takes away all the stress in life! Well done!
I especially liked the close-in shots showing the fine details of Garret glueing up the seams. Fascinating to see things up close.

What a beautiful job
This has to be one of my favorite episodes yet. Lots of love. Pete.
Excellent choice, Kylie Dailey and Tarry not.
Awesome little ship. Cheers

I have watched this for quite few years and you are both awesome. Can not wait to see it in the water. Love it
nice!!! looking awesome. digging the haircut
It's like watching an artist at work, amazing. ❤
it's turning out splendidly.

Sounds like the Bluejays are giving a raucous applause from the bushes at the end of the film.
My wife is NOT a boat builder ... but by the Grace of God, she is an angel from Heaven when it comes to mixing epoxy!
thanks for making...
hard work completed….finish begins….looks great!
Lookin good
Hi, cool boat, well done!)😊
Yet another lovely episode, mahalo 🤙
Looking good. 😊
Garrett, hair cut !! beard trim !! Looking sharp
She's looking fine!
Great job guys
That's such a neat skiff makes me want to build one too ! Great video great music as always !

hey it will be nice wen it is done i`ve seen the magic carpet dinghy finished so i`ve seen how nice it turns out regards from Sweden
You guys are amazing, wow a puzzle boat🎉😊
Looking awesome, that’s going to be such a fun sailing dinghy.
Here in Australia the seams are covered on the inside with fibreglass tape and epoxy.
Looking good.
Exciting!
Love it so much keep it up as always 💘
Great video guys!
That's a good decision. None of the clear finishes provide UV protection like even the cheapest paint.

looks great
Do you think maybe put some kevlar laminated at the bow and keel to keep it protected from all the future beachings this girl is going to make?
Hey Garrett,
What prompted the haircut.Little Red's looking good.
I wonder if you should have a aluminum or tin wear strip down the center
It ain' a dory... but it's hunky! Nice lines and shape on that design.
Love this boat build series. I was surprised that you did not wet the hull with epoxy before laying the glass down. Why?
"But you will, anyway." 😀
Team Scrub, all the way!
Watch Leslie the Bird Nerd regarding Blue Jays ! "The bird I've known the longest"
Just realized there's not a slot for the daggerboard, not needed for this type of sailing dingy? Or do you cut it in later? Anyways, I enjoy watching the stitch & glue method. Getter done!!
Cut it out later ;)
The name for this new boat should be Bossie the cow.
👍👍👍
Why do you choose that style of glass rather than a chopped strand for a first application on wood?
Sometimes the best tool for applying a filet is YOUR FINGER!
Hi Good Day
😀😀👍👍❤❤

Looking really good ! Maybe its a guy thing on projects; some things just have to be so. I do that a lot. Coming together really good.
👍🏻👏👏
Aren't you worried about bird poop or leaves, etc. getting on wet fiberglass?
Shwab update please
where has your hair gone Garrett.??
Kinda looks like a boat
Nice job on the dinghy! What's with the haircut, man? Sick of getting epoxy in your hair?
So so excessive...as it should be! Ha😂
Carbon fibre would’ve been cool
Garrett cut his hair????? 😢
Well if u'r glassing the entire hull then u might a well use it as a plug and make a fiberglass mould....
Take off your hat so we have a better look.
