People made fun of me for buying a 8-15mm ... they all ended up borrowing it.
I realise that I dont know the right people yet 😂
I love it but use it mostly for fisheye shots.
I love the wide lens look. I mainly shoot cycling and when I use my 20mm I do my best to shoot at angles to make it look like an old school skate video or just have a huge shot with my subject dead center.
I agree about the versatility of wide angle for traveling. I use Olympus, I used to carry my 12-40mm (24-80mm in full frame) but since I tried the 8-25mm (16-50mm in full frame) I use the wide zone all the time, it is so versatile when traveling and exploring cities
Good luck everyone! ❤📸
24mm needs more love ... it is great at a crop camera (fov almost like 35mm at FF) and I prefer it over 28mm on FF as well.
Great job, Kai! I actually just bought this lens (RF 14-35) and F4 is plenty for outdoor shots. I’ll be using mine for landscapes
Agreed. 17-40 L is my favourite and "go to" lens.
Bought an EF 16-35mm f/4L a few months ago and I love it! I use it on my EOS R with the EF to RF adapter. I bought it secondhand, but in virtually-new condition; I paid AU$800 when it retails here for AU$2000. It's easily the sharpest lens I have and my current favourite to use.
Yes we agree!, I’ve never liked 24mm give me 28mm and 20mm any day!
One of my favourite lens ever is the Sony 16-70mm F2.8. Such a fantastic lens for traveling!
It's time for rf 50mm 1,2
Can't wait for your Nikon Zf video! see you in a couple weeks!
Woah Kai W and Kai W junior! So cute!
hey Kai ..some of the best stills I have seen from you ...awesome street photography
The 16-35mm gets more time on my camera than others lenses in my travel kit. Looking forward to the updated Sony GM in hopes of it being slightly smaller/lighter and stronger on the 35mm end.
Was just recently in Tokyo and took photos from these exact locations, endless street photography possibilities there.
Kaiman, thanks mammothly much for these incisive insights! Cheers, chap! 🇺🇸💛🇬🇧
In an urban setting, you'll crop ultra-wide images unless you enjoy loads of clutter in your compositions. I really like my old EF20mm 2.8, thanks.
I should take the efs10-22 for a spin, it’s my least used lens really but this video proves I’m missing out
I mainly use 15mm-85mm does the job for me. If i want a wider angle i just swap out to a dedicated wide angle.
Nice shots mind.
Years ago I bought a Tamron 10-24mm 1:3.5-4.5 for using on a couple of Canon Rebels. The odd thing about that lens is that it has an EF mount but EF-S glass. With the crop factor it's more like 16-38. Still plenty wide.
However, it will mount on my 6D and I can zoom out to just a smidge past 14mm, making it an actual 14-24mm on full frame.
I use it for closeups on cars, mostly. Especially any car with fins.
I call it my ultra weird lens.
I shoot Olympus Microfourthirds and I am with you on this. The wider the better. Sadly the widest I've shot it 12mm which captures images closer to 24mm field of view in the 35mm world. I one day want the Olympus 8-25mm lens. Essentially a 16-50mm lens. Would be great.
Olympus also has a 7-14 2.8! I want to try those as well.
The only lens I've used since 2004 is the Canon 2.8 L 16-35. I use it now on my Sony with an adapter. It's heavy, but it's paid for.
5:30 kai with a kidnapped child :D
i was thinking the same thing haha
Nice to see a video in you good old dig.rev. style. Are you back in Hong Kong or just on visit?
I didn’t really get UWA zooms. Then I was offered a great deal I couldn’t resist on a Fuji 10-24 at the FLCS, and I get it now.
Man, that vignetting of that 14-35 F4 at 14mm is pretty atrocious. Sure, it's "corrected" for still photos but it sure does show during video. Software correction is the new norm but, really, Canon has relied on software far too much for some of their zoom lenses.
Love my 24mm Takumar prime👍
Love Jpan..... watching with the audio off love the scenery..Next time Take a Leica.
Maybe you like it because the field of view is so familar today. It is basically the range of most smartphones, just zoomable. Edit: Love goes out for sharing the RX-78-2. I‘m a fan! ❤
Nikon 14 to 24 2.8 best lens ever
Hi kai, why i find a lot ads of eos r50 and poweshot v10 on internet but can’t find youtuber review it? Is the products really bad?
I accidentally cornered myself by only taking a 50mm prime to the west side of Japan - big mistake! Ultra wide to wide was needed so often and I couldn't do a lot of photos
You said photoshop is not allowed, but what about lightroom?
Simple post process with ccolors dosnt hurt right?
Is it okay to upload shots taken with a smartphone or not?
The 24mm hate 😭
Still waiting for a good RF 28-200ish f/4L lens. Tamron has the excellent 28-200 f/2.8-5.6 in E-mount with excellent quality.
The lens I’m look for is a, 12-240mm f1.4 constant aperture, perfectly sharp throughout the focal range, and super light weight. All for about $99 U.S. I know one day this will exist. 😂😂😂😂
14 40 f4 l my fave lens
Thanks for content
I can take part in a Canon challenge when they open up the mount :^) otherwise I'll keep enjoying my 3rd party lenses on other systems.
I really like my Sony 12-24 2.8 ;)
Currently trying to save up for a R6ii or R5 so this competition definitely interests me!
For goodness sake get a R5, you won’t want any less when you’re playing with the files. If you’re in the UK you can get one sent from e infinity to UK only £2500.
well, i ,loved my 10-22 on crop canon...
Wow, I didn't realise London's Chinatown was so huge!!!!
not sure if serious
looks like he was in Tokyo 😉
@@definedphotography NOT serious. 😁👍
@@rikmills😁😁
My 12-24 GM is a natural born moneymaker 📸🤘🏾
First. Never done this before lol
I never really liked ultrawide. Too much distortion, you have to get really close and the background still looks too far away.
But I can see myself using 20mm and above :)
So if the standard 24-70 started at 20 instead, that would be greeeat ;)
I learned the 28mm with electrical tape on my GRIII. I somehow made it a perfect 2:1 crop and shot like that for a year, eventually I took off the tape and everything made sense. Fully recommend.
Not that tape won’t get there… but I’d love if more cameras offered wider aspect ratios than 16:9. I don’t think any APS-C or m43 offer it, IIRC only Panasonic and Sigma on FF, and Fuji GFX. How hard is it for more black bars on an LCD screen?
I've been doing a lot of 2.39:1 by setting 16:9 crop in camera, somehow I almost always get the framing right for 2.39:1
Welcome to Japan🇯🇵
Canon needs to make a 28-85mm f1.2
It would be huge. Bigger than the RF28-70. It would also cost a fortune. I have the 28-70 f2 and 85
I was in Germany for Christmas. Someone can try grabbing my 15-35mm F2.8L IS RF out of my cold, dead hands. I cried a bit shelling out cash for it, but the best lens I’ve ever had. Sorry @ 70-200 F2.8 RF!
… better using the Sony f2.8/12-24 GM - best wide angle zoom so far. 😀
Are you still in Japan?!
But be very careful with filters while ibis is trying to compensate for your camera movement (=> vigneting) ;-)
Ah that's what it was.
Lol!
I have that very lens.
It’s great indoors…
papa Kai!!!
Oh no!!!! You are here in Tokyo! Didn’t know that :(
Still here?
I'm 70-200mm F/2.8 guy . 😊
meant 17 40
Anyone know what kind of backpack that person on the right is wearing at 3:03?
It is the Takara Tomy Gacha Backpack
That wobble though…
f/1.4 gang for 24mm primes.
Ohh malaysia isnt part of the countries in the giveaway
After becoming a gearhead I've come to realise that I only use my 70-200 on the street and a 85mm prime for places where I don't want to be too intruding
I'm using the Sigma Art 14-24 f2.8 on my EOS R6 Mark II and it's SPECTACULAR! Perfect AF, sharper than any wide lens I've ever used, and way cheaper (and wider) than the Canon 15-35.
Me: 10-22 & 24-70, on 2 different bodies. :P
wait...what lens is Kai showing off in this video?
Chapstick, brother.
6:50 so Terry Richardson ended up in Japan...😅
Laughs in generative fill
Rip Asia can’t participate
I am the only one who doesn't like wide angle ( and even less ultra-wide)? Really 35mm is the widest I can deal with and most of the time I would even prefer not to use it.
i agree
The new Sony 16-35 gm ii f2.8 is going to be ground breaking 😊. Now is the time to switch.
4:43 that vignetting 😩😥 is it really as bad as it looks?
ok you can read chines
😂. The fundamental rights at work was signed only two years ago by the CEO of Canon. Gosh, he must have been bored at home while on vacation during covid and was like well I guess I should sign this saying about modern slavery 😂. I know this TH-camr will eat it up and he'll sell my products.
