Everything you said about the data bank is right, you can also chain them if you need more slots for more ASL's or data hatches. Since you want to figure the research out on your own I will leave it to you. One thing I will mention though is that if the computers don't recieve coolant they will overheat and destroy some parts, but not explode. I am not entirely sure if they always comsume the coolant (like in GTNH) or just consume it while doing calculations, so be careful.
storing too many data sticks in gtnh would cause world corruption. I dont think they are the same though, so it shouldnt be as much a worry. I havent touched the quantum computers in atm 9, but in gtnh there is a horrendous mini game you have to complete in order to use the computer. I hope that isnt the case.
The computation minigame is one of the many small things exclusive to GTNH, so nothing to worry about there luckily. It's a lot simpler, they don't even need to have circuits or cooling input in the computation component, since the gui is non existent for those.
