Patti this is an open stadium. Somehow you managed to be heard over everybody cheering in the stadium, the music and without a mic. Truly powerful voice.
there were default, or should I say, "back up microphones" down below the stage she was perched on, there near the end of' this song...in the event of some sort of audio failure (and there were several at Live Aid including Patti LaBelle's), the mics, below the main stage, would automatically, kick in and connect to a "booster" up there where she was singing. And by the sound of it, those default boosters, didnt work very well, either...BUT STILL!...you have to have pipes of steel, to project your voice in a way, that was discernable to that huge audience, given the mishaps with the sound. And she did, obviously. Ive worked sound and lights in theater work, as well as concerts, going on 25 yrs. So, I know how this works. And none of what went wrong with the audio, was her band's fault. It was a given that sound failures would happen, when you've got this many acts, following each other and adjusting their soundchecks, according to what worked for them. You have to hand it to the stage hands and producers, who made lemons into lemonade with this concert. It was a huge feat, really.

There's a long list of people and experiences I'm grateful for over the past 50 years, but the list gets shorter when we talk about music... among the few among those, these two performances by Patti Labelle -- as well known as she is, still so under-rated, as a singer and as a soul. Thanks, Patti. And, damn. You could hear her at the back of the stadium, with no mike. After a day of top professionals performing, this woman silenced everyone, as they listened and felt, in awe. I encountered Ms Patti Labelle in 1985 performing this set at Live Aid as a young child in London watching this concert and I fell in love with her from that day to this. All I Can Say!! I Love 💕 Me Some Mrs. Patti LaBelle.. Her Voice Are So Strong And Powerful 🙏 🎶 🙏 🎶.
This is just beyond words
Auntie Patti said she don’t need a mic 😤
Queen took over England’s Live Aid, Patti Labelle took over Philadelphia’s Live Aid
Patti labelle is 1 of my all time favourite 80s _90s women she has got so much sole in her life and its making a statement to everyone out there
First time I hear this song with Ms Patti, I can't move on, haha, superb! Goddess of Soul! 2021/26/09
This song makes me think of my granddaughter I love the feeling she gives this song yes patty
Fantasia really studied this woman...fantastic!
What a great voice!!!
PATTI, I bet you're tired!...I just watched the video and I'm tired! 😳😴 🛌
There's something about this performance I just can't put my hand on but Patti was truly truly singing in the spirit and I felt the anointing the anointing was so high off of this performance, "Glory" Patti LaBelle you are the QUEEN!
agree
I hope she reached whomever she was trying to contact. Stttaaaayyyyy!!
pat gorden I was there. It was surreal.
Amazing quality!!! I'm so Touched.
Great to hear this version. Always liked Bob Dylan...
Pattie had me laughing. She is comical but a great singer and performer. lol
"Attention, ladies and gentlemen, Live Aid is now closed. Thanks for coming."
That's what I'm talking about. You do not want to be the singer performing after Patti LaBelle.
They got fish sandwiches available in the parking lot...lol
Exactly! LOL

don't know how I'm gonna work tomorrow because she left me speechless
God given talent right there
Had the pleasure of meeting Patti once (even if it was only fleeting) in a Service Station in London late 70's when she came in the garage to fill up with petrol (gas for you Americans)where I worked. Remember vividly the massive diamond rings on her fingers befitting for such an extraordinary talent. Remembered also the effect this song had on me seeing it late at night on TV Live Aid 1985 goosebumps all the way through before then not realising what a talent she was🎶🎵💎👌☘️
That was ANGELLIC!
That voice so much power
What a voice
