Hi George. Breaking the rules on threads is part of the appeal. You make me want to go out and get that Depeche album. Golden Brown doesn’t get played much on pop radio over here, but it is a great song, and in reality it is the type of song that shouldn’t get much airplay. I love it and the album it’s from. Let’s face it, people are sheep and accept the pap they are presented with. Cheers.
Ha,ha.Nice one George...I took a bit of heat over this one over some of my choices..and my subs count has become a bit of a blood bath 😆 I think picking The Smiths may have been controversial, but I was basing it on XFM, 6Music, Alternatibe eighties radio...if I could do this video again I might recalibrate my choices a bit. Golden Brown is a great choice. Love that tune!
Cheers Harris. I think TCM by Smiths was a very valid choice. As you say on the alternative side of radio, it's heard a lot. Overall the most played Smiths song there is. I wonder why this has ruffled the feathers of some viewers?
Bang on George ... Radio stations are all the same ... boring ... there is so much material that is far better than what is being played, that never gets any attention. We tend to listen to Planet Rock and that has become so stale and predictable. As an example they only ever play Cherry Red by The Groundhogs. The Groundhogs have a fantastic catalogue of music, spanning over many albums, but no, we will only play Cherry Red, nothing else. They have a 'big money competition' now and are constantly plugging it. That seems to have masked what the station really stands for. They have basically gone 'commercial', the DJs have become game show hosts. Okay my rant over, love the videos, stay safe.
Thank you Kev. Glad you agree. I just hate the thought of a Groundhogs track becoming stale!! Why not play something from Thank Christ For The Bomb or Hogwash for a change? Pretty much all major stations are guilty. There are good ones out there, but you have to dig.
Excellent rant, good for your health letting off a bit of steam. Heart and Wave I think are sterile and appalling. Centralised playlists no imagination. There, you’ve got me going off on one now! Completely agree that Enjoy the Silence and Personal Jesus are superb and I also never tire of them. But, I’m a big Stranglers man but Golden Brown just has never got me. Friends of mine love it, but not for me. Great video George. Mike
Brilliant video as always George, full of useful tips and recommendations, cheers!
Thank you very much, you are most welcome.
