I’m not sure, Maine Road and the etihad struggled for filled seats in the top flight especially before the takeover from what I’ve seen. They won the title in the 70s though

it was my sons very first CITY GAME . he was 5 and did nothing but run around up the steps around the seats etc ......I never could believe to this day that that score happened on HIS FIRST MATCH !!!!!!!!!!! I remember that they wore some weird beer mat coloured strip. However , thinking this would be the catalyst that cemented my son as a CITY FAN proved very wrong ....he became an athlete , ran for great britain in the under 20s team with Mo Farrah , won gold medals etc /..........but to this day FOOTBALL doesnt figure at all in his life ????????????? Oh well you have to be a certain very clever and leather skinned person to be an avid CITY FAN
We played Huddersfield 5 times that season(including losing to them in the return league fixture), only winning 2 of the 5... Although I was living in Germany at the time I managed to get to 3 of the games and yes... the 3 they didn't win!
Oh wow, what awful luck. I have a similar record with the hockey team I support here in Canada. Doesn't matter if preseason or regular reason, they just lose when I attend lol
@@awfan221 LOL isn't that always the case, what is less well known about this time City managed to score 16 goals in 110mins of football 10 in 65 against Huddersfield and 6 in the first half against Plymouth in the next game (ironically missed that game too but went to the League game at Home Park later in the season that we lost 3-2 after being 2-0 up at half time!)

I was there supporting Town - never won in that yellow and black chess board kit - we were 1-0 up against Notts County at home on a muddy pitch and the ref could not tell the players apart with the black and white stripes/blue and white stripes - so we lent them the chess board kit at half time and we lost 2-1 - unlucky kit or what?

This was a Second Division match not First Division-back in the days when Football was Division's one two three and four and had a soul. The FA Cup still mattered in 1987 though the FA's trashing of it had started ,leading it down the road that has made it the meaningless competition it is today. You even actually had to win the league or be the holders to get into the European Cup-now the tedious "Champions" league.
