Dave Chapple, Vic, Erykah Badu, T-Pain, Tobe Nwigwe, Asakaa Boys. There were other festivals with Usher. It was epic. Auston I don’t think Ghana was oversold to anybody. What I think you are missing is, you’re rather looking for a product that was not advertised to you. Those African and American brothers and sisters who came to Ghana and fell in love with the country, were there for a different market and products. Ghana, believe me or not, provides the black diaspora the opportunity to see and appreciate the root of their extended history, culture, ancestral heritage, and where most of their ancestors came from. It helps the black diaspora to know where they came from and where it all started and to embrace and appreciate their identity. Ghana does so well in this market and those products than any other African country. If you are looking for fantasies and beach parties and night life, then Ghana is not for you. You should rather go to the Brazil or the Caribbean.

    • @Svig
      @Svig ปีที่แล้ว

      You could'nt have sad it much, its so sad thou. Black American youth should be fully invested on finding out about their origins. Instead of chasing women and looking down on African countries, they should use the opportunity of being in the continent, as most blacks can't travel outside America.

    Black Americans' fascination with Ghana is not a new phenomenon...it goes back nearly 70 years. Ghana's first President Kwame Nkrumah was the architect of a policy that invited Black Americans to come back to the home of their ancestors. Nkrumah, a product of HBCUs during the 30s and 40s when the cry for civil rights was growing at a fever pitch, saw the conditions of his American cousins and felt that repatriation to Africa should be an option. Nkrumah's circle included eminent Black American thinkers of his time, such as Langston Hughes and W.E.B. DuBois, to name a few. Martin Luther King Jr.'s sole voyage to Africa was to partake in the celebration of his friend, Nkrumah's inauguration in Ghana. Later, in 1963, W.E.B. DuBois chose Ghana as his final home, where he eventually passed away and was laid to rest. The allure of Ghana as a prominent destination for Black Americans was thus instilled over generations. This isn't a recent trend; it's a testament to Kwame Nkrumah's enduring Pan-African legacy.

    The sad thing the comment sections reveals is hidden low self-esteem and inferiority complex AMONGS MANY AFRICANS. See how Africans are arguing about which country is better and which one is not. All that they are saying might be true in a sense but the intention behind what they are saying is what saddens me. Because a black American man says something good about your country, you become happy and excited (because subconsciously, you value his opinion ) and then he says sth bad about another African country, the Africans who are happy because he said sth good about their country is now attacking the countries he negates: INFERIORITY COMPLEX at its best. Africans trying to feel superior over other Africans because an American said sth good about their country and said sth bad about other ones.
    You see how Africans are expecting him to state his opinion about other African countries. Why does his opinion matter? stop stroking his ego. We already know the conditions of many African countries, why do you need a foreigner whose motive for traveling is carnal and worldly to be telling you about your country so you can feel good?

    • @Sparxx74
      @Sparxx74 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Your argument is based on a false premise. People are not arguing because a black American has given an opinion. People are arguing because an inf;uencer has given an opinion. Ghana didn't intend for its December tourism marketing campaign to be what it is and if you do recall, it was the Black Americans, Brits, & Ghanaian diaspora, that ran the marketing, they are the ones that host the festivities in Dec and import service providers for those events.
      The reality is, Ghana is not yet ready for the influx resettlement but, it is great for cultural exploration and slave castles tours. Nigeria on the other hand, has not capitalised on the slave castles tourism or tourism for that matter. I have been to Ghana...I live in Kenya.
      Ghana is culturally sound and thus attractive to pple looking to connect. Ghana is more family oriented, their street food is way better than ours, in Kenya.
      Ghanaians are more outward bound and thus you will find them everywhere as professionals just like their southern neighbour... Nigeria.
      Kenya, culturally is dying and more and more western.... which is not good at all.
      I know Kenya has lots of diaspora out there but Ghana is way more.

Kenya is not heaven but they have their things in order. Most Ghanaian girls if they will go out with you it is because of money,the free meals or because they think one day you will bring them to America and get them a green card. It’s crazy how Americans leave their country and expect the same things they left in values, morality, sexuality, comforts, etc. All you require is in America! Why leave America to criticize another country you traveled to? If you’re not ready to retire cuz you’re 24 go to a country where the young population is thriving. Isn’t that America…where you can turn up until you’re well and old? You don’t want to see fully dressed people at the beach…plenty of nude beaches in America where you come from for example Jones Beach. You want to turn up go to a country where that’s happening. Isn’t that America? Some Americans want to bring their immoral moralists. It’s really crazy!

    Ghana, Nigeria, Togo, Benin are where most slaves came from. So I'm not sure if anyone should be surprised those women are exactly like AA women and don't generally get impressed by tricks. Everything African American originate from there. (Music, foods, dances, religions in South America, griot story telling, and much more) Dating a West African woman is just like dating a very feminine AA woman 50 years ago.
    West Africans are very family oriented, very disciplined with their goals so that region is good for the ones that are serious about finding a woman, establishing a business or retire but not for tricking. Ghana and Nigeria has thousands of world-class soccer players and business people (millionaires) so there's nothing you can bring to impress them. West Africans are usually all-business and they don't play like that.
    And since West Africans are generally ambitious they typically see pot smoking and other substances use as craziness, irresponsibility and a tremendous waste of time and brain power.

    • @jayfizz545
      @jayfizz545 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Exactly if you know the history you know we are not much different and black Americans are just more distant versions of us. We look down on promiscuos women so our women aren't impressed by basic things same as a women in america. The flashiness of AA litterally comes from their west african ancestors. Our culture is most comparable to 1960s black america before the crack era destroyed the culture and brought on degeneracy. Also we are more aligned with north africans culturally than the east despite being different skin color because of ancient kindgoms contact with each other plus religion. It has made us more traditional than our east and south african counterparts. Our women are women and expect a man out of a man which means you have to provide and bring to the table. Eastern and southern african women accept anything out of their men and the standards are very low so you can have your pick of the litter. But I love that our women have standards and have a level of decorum I wouldn't want to wife a women that everyone has or can have anyway its not the culture of my people. So if your a foreigner looking for easy exploitable women west and north africa isn't the place you will be more successful in other regions.

Accra region area is a melting pot going back way before 1460 so the culture has evolved beautifully there with mix of cultures from Europe, Americas, Asia, and other parts of Africa making the Accra experience unique. The coast of Ghana was also part of the Atlantic Trade Economies, where ports and harbors towns connected from different parts of the world exchanged cultures and created their own unique economies where people including those living on the coast of Ghana lived and traded around the world.

Either by being socially compatible or by having similar minds (literally. you have to sort of click and really be in each others heads for them to really be into you or open and more relaxed). They're judging you based on personality/character.
    To put it simply, ghanaians are more like introverts. And not the simply quiet type of introvert, more the not super social kind of introvert (they have to know you for a long time to fully open up, very few social butterflies). Yeah he is right about Ghana. One of the things you will find as you travel a lot is you do not need to spend a long time in a place to know if you like it. I have traveled so much, 5 minutes outside the airport and I can tell if I like the place or not. For example when I got to Albania, I immediately wanted to get back on the plane and leave. Even in Tanzania. Tanzania is a place where you will come across some good people, but that one horrible person, in immigration usually, or doing business with the wrong person will screw your whole life up.
    One of the things you will notice when traveling is if you are relocating to a new place and you can get everything done without having to depend on other people, most likely that is a good place to relocate. For example if you go to Norway and you can get a nice house to stay in, medical care when you need it, deliveries, and groceries without having to depend on other people; you will be in good shape. The more you have to depend on people generally the worse your experience will be.

    You're correct about the infrastructure, but here's why:
    TLDR: Europeans actually lived (and still live) in large numbers in East and Southern Africa building up the infrastructure. West Africa never hosted a European population with plans to settle in mass, so infrastructure was not built up during the pre colonial, colonial periods. However East and Southern Africa have done well in the modern era to keep building better infrastructure whereas West Africa after its independence leaders has not added any infrastructure of significance to what was already meager colonial infrastructure.
    Long version:
    West Africa is the only part of Africa that did not have a large European population building infrastructure. East and Southern Africa were places that Europeans intended to settle and live in, so they built way more infrastructure to accommodate themselves. The british wanted a unbroken stretch of land from Egypt to South Africa (which is where most former English colonies are if you look on a map). This was done to settle and be closer to their crown colony, India. West Africa on the other hand was known as the "White man's grave" because of the powerful states that impeded European expansion, Europeans did not intend to settle. Thus infrastructure was never built up quite as much as East or Southern Africa. Fast Forward, once Nkrumah got independence he went on a journey to transform Ghana but after 7 C-I-A and Ashanti/Akyem orchestrated assassination attempts and a successful coup, it stunted Ghanaian development. Ghana has had one of the highest number of coups in Africa. For decades it was coup after coup with no development. 2000 marked the first time there was a stable government since Nkrumah. But the Ashanti president continued to destroy and stunt growth. Long story short, after Nkrumah, nobody has undertook any infrastructure development. Honestly approaching the average Ghanaian especially women when u have so much tattoos on, scares them a bit from first impression as they do not know ur intentions based on how the society tags individuals with tattoos, so they might not be as warm. I know it’s backward but the average Ghanaian prefers modesty and no tattoos. Also in Ghana the intelligent pretty ladies are very relationship and family oriented, so sadly the girl you’ll pick up at the club or pubs are rather different from the actual Ghanaian woman. And yes Ghana has a long way to go with infrastructure and development. Nairobi has had a great head start in that aspect. 🇬🇭🇬🇭🇬🇭❤

    Good conversation, there are many development metrics that South Africa is better than Kenya and other way around is correct. S.A is still stuck in pre-independent 20-30 years of wilderness which many African countries had from independence. Their economic growth is low and economy shrinking compared to politically mature countries like kenya. The faster South Africa ruling class sorts the wilderness, the better for the country, otherwise, they will be passed by emerging economies. Ghana’s GDP is low, HDI higher than Kenya but Kenya has been catching up very fast. As a Kenyan, I wish all African countries the best but we should also tell others the truths.

      @@kemmoneR Read to understand my comment. RSA’s average ten last ten year’s economic growth rate is below 2% while kenya has been growing at around 4.8%. I really don’t know know what you call growth but the statistics are not on your side. South Africa economy is driven by Industry and services sectors at an average of 24% and 63% respectively. Kenya on the other hand more diversified and is highly supported by agriculture around 22%, industry 17% and services at 54%. Many Kenyan financial institutions are market leaders in the East African countries so is South African firms in SACU region. On Geopolitical influence, it is very hard to tell which country has an edge over the other because in the EAC region, Kenya is viewed as a leader while in SACU RSA is a leader. Kenya is home to the only UN office headquarters in Africa and other International institutions headquarters for africa. Kenya was a member in the UN Security Council, I know South African people have accomplished a lot but also we know about the income inequality is one of the highest, in Kenya it’s different and has a more equal society. My comment didn’t discredit African leaders but political and economic wilderness after independence is a topic that has been written and researched on, read more and you will understand. There are many African countries that are now coming out from that.
