  • This railroad crossing compilation is crossings on excursion train railways. Excursions railroads or scenic tourist trains try to preserve older railroad crossing equipment due to their historic heritage that they preserve to the railroad. Most excursion train lines are former freight railroad lines. Excursion railroads also have modern signals at crossings also for roadways that were updated and the old signals couldn't benefit the roadway anymore. Modern day freight railroads and even Amtrak also run excursion trains like the officer passenger specials and UP's Big Boy tour. In this video the railroads filmed are the California State Railroad Museum Sacramento Southern Railroad, Sierra Northern Sacramento River Train, Santa Cruz Roaring Camp & Big Trees Railroad, and the Napa Valley Railroad Wine Train.

    2:12 that Old River Rd crossing functions sort of like a Czech crossing where it just rings for a while and then the gates come down really quick after at least 10 seconds unlike most U.S. crossings

    Very nice video! Seeing those Gensets handling the dinner train was awesome. I know they're not too popular, so it's nice seeing a couple preserved.

    Неймовірно гарно відзнятий цей відеосюжет!!! Дуже дякую тому, хто знімав, (або тій, хтознімала). Дуже дякую за можливість цікаве й вражаюче подивитись. Зніміть, будь ласка, щось нове. Сподіваюсь, що нове теж мені сподобається.

      @MobileRailSpotterRxR  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Because there are no roadways along their route but Old River Rd. The rest are private crossings.

    The crossings on scenic/excursion train routes. These crossings are sounded when excursion trains pass by. Some excursion train crossings use very old bells that still work. Many preserve older equipment for excursion services. And many of them reuse older level crossings. Heck Sacramento Southern Railroad reused a very old Amtrak F40PH.

    I just stumbled onto your channel-nice compilation. However your rapid zooming and panning on the signals makes me nauseous. Why do you do that?

    • @MobileRailSpotterRxR
      @MobileRailSpotterRxR  ปีที่แล้ว

      I require myself to zoom in on the lights as they eventually get changed. I also like the design of different crossing lights so I zoom in on all my videos.

    Here's a thought for those interested: Have the Non-Profit Railroads use electric crossing bells as well, it's just a thought it might just save some ears in the future.
