- The Midwestern United States is home to a wide variety of different trains and railroads. Everything from fast commuter and intercity passenger trains to steam powered excursion trains can be found here. In the summer of 2024, I was able to spend several weeks documenting many different trains for various upcoming video projects. In this video, we take a look at just a sampling of some of the trains I saw in late July and early August in the states of Minnesota, Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa, Indiana, and Michigan.

1:59 Bruh Metra 411 blaring it’s horn through town, it’s crazy! Plus the K5LA is bloody beautiful to listen to my ears!
I was very surprised to hear it! I don’t remember any of the MP36s with K5LAs that sounded that nice!
Man, it's nice to see a CoasterFan video in the Midwest!
It was nice to visit! Hopefully many more times in the future!
I do not think you could've picked a better thumbnail for this video Mike. Again, great work!!!
Well thank you! I had a few finalists for the thumbnail but settled on this one as the best choice. I always like those train meet scenes!
This one was easily the best
@@CoasterFan2105you always make good videos
7😉😏👀
THIS IS EXACTLY WHY I 100% LOVE STEAM LOCOMOTIVES THE MOST 🚂🚋🚋🚋🚋🚋🚋🚋🚋🚋
3:39 nice shot of the SD70MACH!
@ 0:41 Sounds Like the K5LAs GO Had on Their MP40s, Until they Replaced Them with K5CAs in 2012.
CERTIFIED FRESH VANILLA CAKES FOR VERY VERY INCREDIBLE 🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂
❤COASTERFAN2105 RULES ! ❤
That K5LA on Metra 411 was beautiful. Reminds me of the toasters.
I really like the night scene at 6:38
There was one P42 running on the Chicago to St Louis trains while I was out there and I tried so hard to catch them on the 110 MPH segments. I finally just waited one night for the southbound to come through around 10:30 at night. It ended up being the only scene I got with a P42 going over 100 MPH!
❤LONG LIVE COASTERFAN2105❤
Incredible video!! Love seeing the variety of all these railroads in the Midwest and even museum trains.
Nostalgia from your old videos i used to always wake up and put that one for me and my little brother
Maybe I should re-edit all those old Midwest videos from 2008 some day! There are some that I never even uploaded to TH-cam. Thanks for watching!
@@CoasterFan2105 and the popular videos bring back lots of memories

COOL speed AND train at 2:59
Great video!!! A lot of great catches and spots. 3:28..Wow. I caught something like that at Commerce BNSF a few days ago. It was CRSX 1235, in way better condition but seemed to be heading to the Anaheim Scrap yard.
Was at Chicago,IL and through Minnesota and Wisconsin, part of the Midwest back in mid-June. All those catches are wonderful.
I'd come back to the Midwest soon!
Thank you! It’s a great region for seeing trains.
My dream 😴 is to see those trains 😢😢😢
Great compilation! 👍Have a good weekend!
W video as always!
Also, when were you at GLN (Glenview)? That’s my local metra!
8:01 I saw that train at NBK!
And your GLN Curve shots are amazing! When I was starting out, that’s exactly where I would set up. Love it there. I only stopped because of the parking poles blocking my shots

It's great to see some Midwest trains, Mike! Being from Iowa, I love the opening scene of the Boone & Scenic Valley RR. That's a fun excursion, especially if you're there on the weekends when they're running the steam locomotive.

I saw a JS locomotive in Guangzhou last week and to my surprise I found a cat and one kitten beneath the firebox

@@CoasterFan2105 ok my friend if you must know AWVR 777 what's runaway in 2009 but the movie was released in 2010
I actually saw the amtrak midwest train with the P42 leading the train in near BTL station
I saw a a track in Boston with the Serving America 50 years livery on it
2:38
Wait, is 6540 a recently restored diesel locomotive?
Just curious because I’ve never seen it when watching videos about the IRM.
That one is at the Boone and Scenic Valley Railroad in Iowa. It usually runs on their lunch and dinner trains.
Ah, okay, thanks Mike.
7:00 noot noot! XD

AMAZINGLY gooooood!!!!!!!!! What does ,,Midwest" mean btw? And where did you take the picture of these 2 (two/too🤣) locomotives?!
I’m glad to see that you finally made it to the Boone and Scenic Valley! How did you like the trains in my part of the country? Did you like the 8419?
Nice video, nice catches
Have you ever railfaned on the Colorado joint line or the brush sub?
10:15 that's a rusty locomotive
is that the BNSF Racetrack ❓❓❓❓
No BNSF Racetrack this time around. I ended up running out of time. Hopefully next time!
Nice video! When's the best time to visit the Midwest?
