With usb c, a single cable can be used for everything. Tell me, would a lightning cable allow you to charge a laptop? There were several times my colleagues at work couldn't charge their iPhones because I had a Samsung phone with usb c and they had lightning and vicr versa. My phone died at work because my colleagues had lightning and I forgot to charge mine. Also, I had the opposite experience with usb c. Not even one has broken yet. Also usb c allows charging airpods DIRECTLY from the phone, it also allows connecting external storage, using all sorts of hubs and so on. As for the environment - did you really expect them to NEVER change their connector ever again? They would have done that eventually, inevitably leading to tons of waste you're talking about here. As for dirt - my Lightning connector was covered with dust just yesterday which resulted in poor connection to my airpods case. Why was it? Because it has all those contacts on the outside as opposed to usb c.
iPhone fans will always complain. Been using the USBC since 2016 and LG G5 and my phone still works with nothing like you mentioned. If it was iPhone making the cable it was going to be a different story 🤦♂️
Oh my god this video must be a joke. Should Android have stuck with micro to avoid eWaste? Should Apple have stuck with their old connector before lightning to avoid eWaste? Lightning was a mistake because of eWaste, clearly.
At first I wanted to defend USB-C, but after watching the episode I find that I don't want the iPhone to get USB-C. It was a sin to get the iPad to have USB-C. After all, fans to this day are still crying about it. After all, a true Apple fan has AirDrop for data transfer and MagSafe for charging. He listens to music wirelessly. Why does he need any port on his phone at all. As for the electronic junk argument, the author is right. After all, Lightning cables are forever, and no one has ever bought a spare because its plug broke off, as other cables tend to do. In my opinion, anyone buying a new Apple phone should immediately buy: a faster charger, wireless headphones and a MacBook to get the most out of the new iPhone. #sarcasm
I disagree. I have a usb type c phone for years and never had any problem with dust or anything. However, more than one friend of mine with iPhones needed to clean the lightning because the phone didn't charge. So this depends on the person. Every port needs to be cleaned at times. Waste: okay, the change is going to make lightning cables useless, but think long term: If every cable will be usb type c, this won't be a problem ever again. All cables will be usable as long as they are working. I strongly agree with this decision EU has made.
This video honestly just seems to be finding any excuse to prop up Apple's profits. Seemingly every other creator supports this and the arguments given in this video are very easily deconstructed
@@GarfieldtheDestroyerI think you only need to see the rest of the videos on this channel to understand that this guy is an Apple fan. So basically his opinion does not matter XD
If you want to put out the fire, don't make it bigger. In the long run, it's better to have a standard. Apple itself uses USB-C in Macs and iPads and sticks to Lightning port just to get essentially free money from certified accessories. Keep in mind that the USB4 standard (which uses USB-C) can be used as a DisplayPort or even a PCI connector, so it's not just data transfer (like files) and charging. The waste is inevitable, but you know what? Cables are not bought once and used forever. They break or people just lose them. Another thing is that the transition to a new standard will take a lot of time. Take how long Apple supports their devices. iPhone 14 in worst case scenario has 6-7 years of support from today, so something like 2030?
Spot on, I agree the lightning port was truly revolutionary for its time. In my opinion it’s a much more durable / smart mechanism. If only they could upgrade its capabilities to fit with modern standards such as usb 3.0 speeds and the other extras. USB C is unnecessary
2min into this video and I’ve already had enough of the ignorance of the author 🤣🤣🤣… Did he just assume everybody will be switching to the new iPhone, and hence, hv to throw their chargers away?? Did he also just assume that older iPhones will magically disappear into thin air making their chargers useless and ewaste? As I said, I only stopped 4secs after 2min, cos the level of ignorance is alarming

Port caps are a thing. You can buy caps to keep dust out of your charging ports if it's a consistent problem.

Welp…
i saw more lightning issues on internet
God know which internet 🛜 your using, usb c has a ton of different issues ranging from compatibility to durability. 🥴
@faisalahmed05tm66 lol compatibility, even ipad change into type c
lightning port isnt as durable as the cable. usb type c is the opposite. i say take the plunge.

No they didn't. They participated in it but most people who created it weren't even from Apple
