There is a massive flaw in windows. I don't like grouping at all, I use windows un grouped. Active window is almost indistinguishable from the rest. They broke it and keep it like so I believe starting from windows 8

3:23 Command + X on Mac is not the same as Ctrl + X on Windows. When in Finder, you Command + C for "copy" then Option + Command + V to "move" rather than "copy" which is effectively like "cut/paste" in Windows.

With windows I didn't need to change much about the OS itself but with Mac I need to make this changes to not kill myself.

Been using both when I got a Mac new back in 2017 it was debatable which Os was better, but over the years windows thanks to Microsoft just kept getting worse and more heavy and macOS started to improve, if not for gaming I would’ve switched to macOS and lynx full time

From a lot of arguments and discussions I've seen on this age-old subject, all it really comes down to is task and preference. And tbh the loudest most militant proponents/opponents of each OS tend to be a small minority of niche power users that don't represent the most common case, or just annoying OS evangelists. I personally use and love both for their own reasons. Seems people just love to pick sides and feed into some weird superiority meta.

Linux is miles ahead of mac

Alright I'll say it since no one else will: Docker on windows is miserable, if you are going to spend a lot of time setting up docker containers and debugging issues in that realm, just get a mac from work. or a linux laptop if they provide them. everything else in the swe space works everywhere so it doesnt matter. windows has 1000x better window management and productivity (right click delete files and folders, separate mouse and touchpad settings, etc) but it falls over with docker desktop and wsl bricks itself every other week

When you ;aunch macos, you fix it by adding 3rd party addons like better mouse for proper scrolling, some window management tool, maybe audio channel mixer. When you install windows, you remove the crap they install out of the box.

ecosystem doesn't exist, my Air pods easily automaticly connects to my windows and using sharedrop or any other service u can "airdrop" any size files from iphone to your windows AND forget about gaming on Mac

You’re right about the whole same language but different dialect thing. And on that note something I wanted to say about deleting apps. Apple’s drag to trash and MS’s uninstall from settings both leave junk files. I use both computers and previously *on both* I would have to go through the Program/User files and delete things. That’s if the app developer was gracious enough to label their data correctly so I could know what it was. Windows devs tend to not be, or even worse, their data is vomited into Documents as if I wouldn’t want to use that folder myself. GTFO of my Documents folder please. Now I have an app on each system that finds system data and removes before uninstallation and it helps a lot.

Check your workflow before getting a Macbook. If it fits, it will perform better and last long time off the wall. I've got a colleague at work that uses one and it never fails to impress me.

For your problem in the beginning, I have a very sleek laptop with great battery life. I have a windows surface 4 laptop running arch Linux great solution easily 8+ hours of battery life

Biggest argument for a Macbook for me would be the fanless design. I really hate fan noise.

I had a windows 7 pc but then moved onto Mac very quickly as it was the only computer that I could use, then moved to windows again but I use Mac as there are certain apps on Mac that work better or are only on mac. And then I have my tablet as a small on the go device with my phone being my hotspot if I need it

I tried 11 with AtlasOS and tweaks to block the craps. Doesn't fix how horrible the OS is. System tray icons constantly getting rehidden and need to manually unhidden. Ancient Intel Graphics drivers keep installing itself over the newer version. Two different right click menus. Advance settings unnecessarily hidden even more than previous. This OS was created to waste your time.

Have you considered, instead of spending 1000€, installing linux on your old laptop? Works wonders. I can suggest you Vanilla OS, or Mint. Another good choice would be Fedoras KDE plasma spin

I have exactly no interest in switching to Mac. I did recently switch to Mint though, and one thing I will say, don't try to make your new OS into your old OS. The more I use Mint the less of the default Windows-like interface I keep. Customize your OS but don't customize it to copy your previous environment.
