To heavy for commercial air play. I lived in wisconsin at the time and remember WLS but i dont remember ever hearing this on any station, just heard it while watching one of cheech and chongs movies and thought this was a pretty cool tune.
My dad had the C&C Wedding Album with this on it and he would play this for me🤣 I miss my Dad he passed in 2017 I have all his records, I still get this one out from time to time. - Amy O'Brien
We caught Cheech & Chong Live in the mid 70s. They used two chairs, some coats, some hats and not much more. Such talent!!! I laughed so damn hard that I pulled a rib muscle during the show
Perfect blend of rock and funk. Despite the truly funny comic bit, this song is not to be underestimated. It is by no means easy to play on the guitar.
A really warm and fun moment in high school was when one of my classmates brought in his boom box (it was 1979) and had this on tape. Our 11th grade American history teacher was nice enough to let us finish listening to this routine. We were all gathered around one desk and had ourselves a great laugh. The teacher - a cool dude who'd been to Woodstock and who'll go nameless - was one of the few educators whom I (and we) all personally like. It was a warm spring afternoon, too.
We had a teacher like that. He walked in on some kid's burning a fatty but still a teacher he had to take it away but only as soon as he took a pull of it in comes walking in a rules first asshole. Of course he was fired because the rules first teacher turned him in.
@@dennisnorsherd2339 The teacher in my story once recounted to us how he was turned down for jury duty because he stated that the couldn't in good conscience send someone to jail for smoking a drug that tens of thousands of Americans use daily. He received an ovation.

I regret never telling this teacher how fond I was of him.
This a gem I forgot about about. It was a funny song when I was ten years old. Now though, some forty years past it burns the house down. Between the crunch cords and the beat and horns it was maybe ahead of it's time. Cool tune
I still have Earache My Eye on 45 with a picture sleeve. I keep all my older 45's in excellent condition. Many years ago I did this same exact thing by extending the B side. Although it's on a cassette tape, It was pretty easy to extend the B side.
Weird he (Airto Moreira) would be playing what sounds like normal drums considering he’s a percussionist on everything I’ve ever heard. Also odd he’d be involved in this considering he’s usually doing jazz music primarily.
Me and bro would play this over and over and over.. I was 7, he was 9. Good times, good times. I believe this was also around the time we "floated" around the ceiling, mayhaps got ahold of some crazy, stray psychedelic an inebriated uncle might've inadvertantly left laying around.. or maybe we did indeed fly around that time.. Anywho. This tune helped shape me as a person, man! Peace!
The start of the Grindcore genre, lmao !!!!!!! Love the guitar riffs ..... so cool of a tune. I heard this way back but not sure from where, i did watch a lot of cheech and chongs movies so maybe that's where and it just stuck with me all these years.
Ahh, the good old days, and those were the days, when nothing hurt except for your allowance to be cut off. I'd trade it for now, I wish I could live those days again. I miss the way things used to be.
I was 7 first time I heard it my older brother was 9 years older and I liked listening to it over and over ! Thought they were hilarious 😆 I used to quote it when someone would be playing a record and the needle would skip I would always say “Man you ruined my record !” The 70’s WTF 🤷♀️!
I used to listen to Cheech and Chong when they first started, and had a show on an "alternative" FM radio station in Los Angeles (early 70s). Word of mouth was the only way most people knew about it.
The good old days when Top 40 and album rock radio stations played novelty records and comedy bits. Cheech & Chong had a few hit singles like "Sister Mary Elephant", "Basketball Jones" and "Bloat On", a parody of the R&B hit "Float On" by The Floaters. The follow-up single, "Black Lassie", was edited down from the "Wake Up America" bit on their Wedding Album, but it didn't make the Top 40 like this one did.
1974. Hoquiam high school. KGHO am radio station loved to play this record along with the Tooth Fairy comedies. I bought the record and got yelled at every time I played it. I was too big for ass whooping though.
Yup, we did the same things back in the era. My mother once asked me why there were beer cans under my bed, I said I was collecting them for a rocket in a school science project, oh OK! I couldn't believe she bought that story! Parents were so innocent back then.
Similar story for my friends homemade 2 liter bottle water- bong that he said was his science project when his mother came and looked at it good times.
When i was a kid ny mom asked me what album my cousin would like for graduation..i didnt know what cheevh and chong were about ..i picked their album cause it was funny. Ha ha
I think Cheech and Chong were funnier on the AM radio stations back in the old days than on the big screen. In other words, they were better un-seen than seen.
This was one of the 1st 45s i bought. These records were common place in the 1970s. It seems to be a lost art. Look up bill Murray's THE BASS PLAYER - another one of my favorites.
At 3:35 you see the album cover the song was on. There was actually a double cover. You pulled the 2nd cover out of the sleeve and you could see all the dope stashed inside the car door. How many of you had that album, too? I forget if that was the album that had the huge rolling paper inside. I had all of their albums.
This should be a Super Bowl half time show . It would be the GOAT .
Yes it's much better than the garbage shows they present today.

First time I've heard the whole version in almost 50 years. 🤣
I was 10 years old when I first heard this on WLS Chicago. I had no idea how many DJs lost their jobs by playing this 45.

Dr. Demento? Early 70's KLOS LA?

Caught many chicken in harsh cold thanks to this
I first heard this when I was in 5th grade, my friend had this single, we thought it was hilarious! "Get your fanny perpendicular!"
“This is gonna hurt me a lot more than it’s gonna hurt you!” Famous last words
My Dad used to say this before one of my beatings, lol.
This is not the original text from the scat this is very make makes it nice
Cheech actually says "This is going to hurt YOU a lot more than it's going to hurt ME".

And RAP!!! Listen to Cheech. You could put him over The Nookie by Limp Bizkit and it would work!
" Alice Bowie " 😂
Before they partnered up as a comedy duo, Tommy Chong was a jazz musician.
Three cords hard 😂🤣
Would hear this on fm before school. It was all the buzz on the playground.
