      It did, the fan is up and works great! Thanks again!..... Had your video playing as we did the install. The only hiccup was forgetting to replace the canopy ring before wiring up the fan..... Needless to say, it wasn't worth taking the fan down to put it on. I did a flush mount install rather than doing the downrod where you had mentioned it there.

    Great video - professional, step-by-step video with minimal, unrelated chatter. Even though the video used a different model ceiling fan than the one we were installing, we were able to consult with the manufacturer's installation instructions whenever there was a difference in the instructions. Just one note: It would have saved time if there was an optional, companion video with instructions for removing an existing ceiling fan (for those replacing their old fan).

      thanks for watching! The sloped ceiling install would be the same. The only thing to note would be that the opening of the mounting bracket (where the ball/downrod goes in) needs to be facing the peak of the ceiling so that the ball doesn't slip down.

    I found after hanging 5 of them it's easier to attach the blades and hook up the three wires from the receiver to the motor and then slip it up there in place and then hook up the hot and neutral wires. You may need someone hand it to you but it makes life much easier and you don't have to mess with wires in a small place.

    I just installed the fan and Everything works well thank you for the video. I have two switches on my wall, one of them is for a dimmable light. Can I some how hook up the light only to the dimmable switch to turn the light off and on rather than using the remote. My light is currently hooked up to the non-dimmable switch. It turns on the fan and the light. If the light and the fan setting were on the on position previously than it will automatically run the fan or turn on the light. But if I had selected the light to be off on the remote, than I have to turn the light back on with the remote. I want to have the option to turn on the light with or without the remote.
    Thank you

    • @NonMonFrere
      @NonMonFrere 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      My 52” Windward IV didn’t come with a blue wire, only black and white. Blue controls the fan via switch black controls the light via switch.
      So the red/black/white combo I have from the ceiling, does not match up and kills use of a switch (which I want a Lutron Diva fan control switch). This is how I have it working upstairs.
      I think they’ve changed the model a bit, and I’m frustrated and looking for a work around.

      To be fair... we live and breathe ceiling fans and have installed literally 100's of them. Ceiling fan installation is about 90% the same across the board. Installation is pretty easy once you've done it a couple of times. The main thing that worries people is the electricity aspect, which becomes a non-issue once the breaker is turned off.

    Great video. I have two of these fans under 20 ft apart. The remote for either fan controls both fan when they have power. Is there away to adjust the frequencies?

    • @ceilingfans101
      @ceilingfans101  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes, the remote and receiver have dip switches to change the frequency to avoid this issue. Refer to the 16:20 mark of this video. If you have the newer version of this fan with LED bulbs, the process is the same. Since you have 2 of the same fans, you will need to change the dip switches in one remote and receiver.

    This is great! Thanks for the detailed instructions. We just got this fan from a friend and, as such, it was already assembled using the downrod. Since we didn't receive the complete package, it looks like we are missing the rubber gasket for the close-to-ceiling mount... Do you know how important it is to have that gasket if we do a close-to-ceiling mount? Would we be fine without it?
    Thanks for your help!

    • @ceilingfans101
      @ceilingfans101  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad you liked the video. A far as the rubber gasket goes, it should be installed for the close-to-ceiling mount. The rubber gasket helps eliminate noise (rattling) that you will probably get if you install it without the gasket. A rubber gasket can be ordered by calling the Home Decorators Collection customer service at 1-800-986-3460.

    @son0flaw366 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great video! Had to install one of these in an outdated electrical box where the 8/32 holes in the mud ring were too close together for the mounting bracket, I used one of those holes on one side and ran a self-tapping screw through mud ring into the box as it was too offset. Toggles wouldn't have fit as they weren't far enough to bypass the box entirely. Do you know of a better solution for that other than cutting the wall and putting in a new ring(or box too if needed, not sure about that one)?

    • @ceilingfans101
      @ceilingfans101  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching! I can noly suggest replacing the outlet box for proper installation. A self tapping screw may loosen over time which could lead to fan wobble or possibly falling. The best solution is to replace the outlet box and make sure it is secured to the joists in the ceiling. If the ceiling joists are near the outlet box hole, there are braces made specifically to allow you to attach it to the joists and then adjust the outlet box to the right position in the ceiling.

    • @ceilingfans101

    so if I have a red wire in junction box, as this was originally operated by a switch on wall. I'm now capping the red wire in junction box for non use? only by remote? can it be used by remote as well as connecting the red wire from junction box to one of these other wires to still make the switch also operative?

    • @ceilingfans101
      @ceilingfans101  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Disclaimer - **I'm not a licensed electrician and you should always consult with a licensed electrician if you have questions about wiring** that being said... For this fan, you can connect the receiver to either your house black power wire, or the red swtich wire. Connecting the red switch wire will allow you to turn the fan on/off using the wall switch. Whichever wire you don't use should be capped off in the junction box. If the switch is anything other than a standard on/off style toggle switch, you can not use that and the remote. Hope this helps.

    I had to buy a down rod but it doesn't go deep enough into the motor for the pin to line up. It seem secure because it is threaded really deep but needs just a little bit more to get it where the pin will go through. Will this be safe? Feels safe and i don't see how it will un twist it self loose.

    • @ceilingfans101
      @ceilingfans101  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      This fan doesn't use a pin like older fans that have a pin that goes through the downrod and motor collar. As long as the downrod is completely threaded into the motor collar and the set screw is completely tightened, it should be fine. There is a locking tab on the motor collar that will pop into the hole at the bottom of the downrod if it ever loosens up to stop it from completely coming apart. Hope that helps!

    Great video, I have the Hampton Bay version, need to change the light bulbs, any chance there is a different version for removing the glass bulb cover than screwing on/off? Mines not budging. Thanks in advance.

    • @ceilingfans101
      @ceilingfans101  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks you for the question. There is no other version. The only way the glass is removed is by unscrewing. Sometimes the glass can lock up due to vibartion or being installed not quite aligned properly. If that is the case, there are a couple of tips to help remove it. 1) try lightly knocking around the edges (like knocking on a door) - that may loosen it up a bit. 2) use rubber gloves (like kitchen gloves) and hold the glass by the edges and push up slightly while unscrewing.

    • @ceilingfans101
      @ceilingfans101  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Nick J. Glad the video helped you. As far as dimming the fan, the latest version of this fan includes an updated remote control that does have a dimming function. The remote as shown in this video does not have a dimming function. There are 2 workarounds for this - 1) order the latest remote control/receiver from Home Decorators Collection by calling their customer service, or 2) purchase an after market universal remote control that includes a dimming feature. Hope that helps. Also, please note that you will need to install dimmable bulbs. The CFL bulbs that are included with the fan are not dimmable.

    Where did the ground wire coming out of the motor assembly come from? It doesn't exist when you put the gasket and the canopy on, but when you go to wire it up it suddenly exists. I ask because my fan (this model) has no ground wire except on the mounting bracket

    • @ceilingfans101
      @ceilingfans101  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If the fan is mounted flush, you will only have the ground wire from the mounting bracket. If installing with the downrod, there will be 2 ground wires - 1 from the mounting bracket and one from the downrod. There is not a ground wire from the motor itself.

You could just buy a universal remote and install the receiver included with the new remote. You could also call Home Decorators Collection customer service and order an exact replacement remote and receiver.

    the one I'm installing it seems like the screws are too short once I put the rubber gasket in between the shroud and the motor...they will not catch even when I stand on the screwdriver.

    • @ceilingfans101
      @ceilingfans101  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Gary, I know there was a small batch of these fans that shipped with short screws. The problem was fixed by the manufacturer, but there were a few that made it the the shelves, and unfortunately, it sounds like you got one of those. You can call customer service at 1-855-HD-HAMPTON (1-855-434-2678) and one of the reps will send you the correct screws. The other option is to install it without the gasket, but that could lead to noise issues. In general, i have found the customer service reps at Hampton Bay to be very helpful.

    I got the 72in Kensgrove LED and ever since we installed it it seem to have a mind its own. With the light switch off its still on and if we want it off we have to throw the breaker. We just installed a different fan that can with receiver that hided in the ceiling mount. But our did not come with one. Should every one come with one? or is that an "accessory"? I rechecking my wiring and taken it apart twice with no resolve. Any word of wisdom?

    • @ceilingfans101
      @ceilingfans101  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmmm. Let me start by saying *** I am not a licensed electrician and if you do not feel comfortable working around electricty, you should consult a professional*** ok, with that out of the way... That sounds weird. My first thought is that the fan is not wired to the wall switch - i would use a voltage tester to make sure the switch is actually cutting power to the fan. The voltage tester is an easy tool that you can pick up at Home Depot. This would et you see if there is power to the wires when the wall switch is off and on. If the wall switch is off, the fan should not continue to run, since it would not have power. My second thought would be to try and re-pair the remote with the fan. Often with DC motor fans, you have to pair the remote with the fan's built in receiver prior to using the fan. You should consult the manual for instructions on pairing (or calibrating) the remote. As far as the second question, most fans that have a remote come with a receiver as well. There are some fans that have the receiver built-in. If the manual doesn't show the receiver as an additional part, chance are that it is built-in. If none of this helps, you should call Home Decorators Collection customer service at 1-800-986-3460. good luck!

    • @kyletaylor1877
      @kyletaylor1877 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Alight. I will have to look into that. The fan prior (fan we had in prior to the install) would turn on and off by that switch but once we put the fan in and turned the breaker on the fan just goes on it's own and the remote does not seem be paired with the fan. The directions were very vague and didn't give much besides placing batteries and function of each button on the remote

    • @ceilingfans101
      @ceilingfans101  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I looked into it further and it seems like there are 2 different versions of the Kiensgrove fan. An indoor version and an outdoor version. If your fan included a long black remote, the pairing process would be the same as in the Breezemore installation video on this channel (fast forward to the 14:04 mark and the pairing instruction is covered). If your fan included a white remote with a circle button layout, the pairing process is different. if you have the white remote, start the process by turning the breaker off. Then, turn the breaker on and within 60 seconds, press and hold the "set" button (located in the battery compartment of the remote) for 5-7 full seconds. Once the fan is paired with the remote, the light should blink twice and the fan will start going in high speed for about 3 minutes and then reverse itself for another 3 minutes. once the fan stops, you should be able to control the fan/light with the remote. hope this helps!

      If it is installed without the downrod, there is really only one option to access the reeciver. You would need to remove the 2 standard scres and then loosen the canopy screws in the J slots. Then you would twist the canopy/fan assembly to remove it from the mounting bracket. Then you can hang the fan assembly by the hook on the mounting brackeet. Basically, go to the 9 minute mark in the video, watch that section and do the reverse.

    Ok so 5 videos later I can't find anything on this extra red copper house wire. No 1 talks about it, what does it go to? I did exactly what you showed me and my fans not working. Thinking cuz of red house wire

    • @ceilingfans101
      @ceilingfans101  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      We would suggest either calling Home Decorators Collection customer service at 1-800-986-3460 or consulting with a licensed electrician. In general, the red wire is typically a wall switch wire. When connecting the receiver to the house wiring, you can either connect the receiver power wire to the house black wire OR the house red wire - never both. Again, we are not licensed electricians, so we would strongly suggest consulting with one to make sure the siring is connected correctly to avoid damaging the fan's receiver.

  • @ScottSalvi

    I can't figure out how to hide the remote receiver in a slanted ceiling mount. It doesn't slide over the ball due to it being at an angle...

    • @ceilingfans101
      @ceilingfans101  ปีที่แล้ว

      We are sorry to hear that you are having that issue. The receiver will fit in the mounting bracket on an angled ceiling with a max angle of 20 degrees. If the angle is greater than 20 degrees, you will need a 45 degree canopy kit. That will allow the receiver to insert into the canopy for more extreme angles.

    What if you have a Black & Red power wire? Is this because I have 2 switches in my bedroom to turn on the power? Can I connect these 3 wires all together?

    • @ceilingfans101
      @ceilingfans101  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the Question. Let me start by saying *** I AM NOT A LICENSED ELECTRICIAN AND YOU SHOULD CONSULT WITH ONE OF YOU ARE CONCERNED ABOUT THE WIRING *** That being said, typically the red wire would be a switch wire and the black would be a constant power wire. You should not connect all three. In most cases, you can connect the receiver's power wire to the red wire which would allow you to turn the fan and light on and off with the switch. If you wire the fan's receiver power wire to the black house wire, you should have constant power to the fan, but not be able to control with the switch. Again, if you're not sure, you should consult a licensed electrician. You can also get a voltage tester from Home Depot and test the wires with the switches off and on, that should let you know which one is a switch wire. Good luck!

      @ceilingfans101  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like you may have a different fan. If you have black and white, the light is probably tied in with the black wire along with the motor speed. The ground wire should be attached to the downrod and one on the mounting bracket. If you let us know the name/model of the fan and where you purchased it, we may be able to help further.

    What about if I haven't the green cable?

    • @ceilingfans101
      @ceilingfans101  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      There should be a green wire on the downrod and another one on the mounting bracket. If those are missing, you should call Home Decorators Collection customer service to reuest a replacement part. If you are talking about your house wiring, a typical house has a black, white, and bar copper wire coming out of the ceiling. The green wires from the fan should connect to the bare copper wire from the house. Hope this helps!

    Is it possible for a little kid to install a ceiling fan?

    • @ceilingfans101
      @ceilingfans101  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The answer really depends on how "little" the kid is. In general, we would not recommend children installing any type of electrical items. We don't like to be dream crushers, and believe people can do anything they set their minds to, but for safety reasons we have to say "No, the fan should be installed by an adult". That being said, I think it could be a great family project and the "little kid" could certainly help.

      The fan's direction is controlled by the reverse switch on the top of the motor. You can see it at the 18 minute mark of this video. • @ceilingfans101
      @ceilingfans101  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It sounds like the wiring is mixed up, which would explain why the light button is controlling the fan speed and speed button is controlling the light. Make sure tha the fan's blue wire is connected to the blue wire from the receiver (labelled "for light") and that the fan's black wire is connected to the black wire (labelled "to Motor L" ) from the receiver. If the wiring is done correctly, and you are still having an issue, there may be an issue with the receiver. If the wiring is correct and you're still having the issue, i would suggest calling customer service at 1-800-986-3460. The Home Decorators Collection service team is pretty good at troubleshooting.

      I switched the wiring (fan and light) which led to nothing working. so I am going to assume it is a faulty remote sensor . The remote works with my other identical fan so most likely the sensor is faulty. I bought the fan 2 years ago with the other two I own and just now installed it. So chock it up to old age.

    • @ceilingfans101
      @ceilingfans101  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      First of all, the remote has dip switches in the remote (inside the battery compartment) and on the receiver (located inside the fan's canopy). If the remote is an exact replacement, you just need to make sure that the dip switches are set the same in both the remote and the receiver. If you haven't replaced the receiver, you may need to do that. Sometimes, even though the remote appears to be the same, the receiver needs to be swapped out as remotes and receivers are dependent on one another and you previous receiver may operate on a different frequency. If those tips don't help, you should call customer service and they should be able to help you troubleshoot.

    The wiring instructions do not include what to do when you have 3 wires, white, black and red coming from the house junction box in addition to the green ground. My old fan ran from 2 wall switches; one for the fan and one controlled the light. So now I have and extra wire coming from the ceiling that I don't know what to do with....

    • @ceilingfans101
      @ceilingfans101  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Let me start by saying that I AM NOT A LICENSED ELECTRICIAN, but in most cases, the red wire is from a wall switch. You should be able to wire the fan's black wire to the red wire and have the wall switch turn the fan on or off. If it were my installation, I would simply cap the red wire with a wire nut and secure it with electrical tape. The other option may be to wire the fan's light wire (blue wire) directly to the red wire which should allow you to use the switch to control the light, but would omit the light control from the remote. If you have any concerns, I would suggest consulting a licensed electrician.

    • @Doze320

      I also have two switches and I did your latter suggestion, wiring the red to blue to control the light from the wall switch. Works great! Another nice thing about this fan is it remembers its speed setting even when the power is off--so, besides using the remote, you can just turn it on/off from the wall switch and it goes back to the last speed. Your video was very helpful for installation, thanks!
