The Z51 C8 with its weight and with 495BHP I would expect around a 2:52.00 for that car so considerably slower then this Camaro around VIR. Really exactly where it falls on this list is going to come down to how badly does its understeer impact it at VIR.
@@spengg_shell Not even close, lol. The ZL1 1LE will destroy any C8 Stingray on a track. The Z06 will be a different story, but the base C8 is just that, the base model. Don't expect it to beat anything like a ZL1 1LE.

The new Corvette C6 will only hurt the ZL1 sales even more when the consumer appeals to a mid engine sports car over the Camaro.
@@raymondrocco6251 The ZR1 already has a better score than then ACR. The point was that this is a CAMARO that set a lap time almost as fast as the Viper ACR. And you're not qualified to say what is and isn't appealing to anybody, because you don't speak for them and you have no studies to back that up. And GM has already explicitly stated they are not canceling the Camaro, do your homework please. C8 sales aren't going to do anything to Camaro sales, they're two completely different cars and the ZL1 is significantly faster. Im not saying it's slow or anything. It certainly has some cars that we all used to think were impressive performers on track near it in the all time rankings (like the Porsche 997 911 GT3, 1st gen Ford GT, Corvette C6 Z06, 2006 Viper, etc...). However, the Shelby GT350R (priced similarly to the new Supra) did it in 2 minutes 51.8 seconds and my $40k out the door Camaro SS 1LE did it in 2 minutes 54.8 seconds. By 2019 standards 3 minutes 1.4 seconds really isn't that great for a car a pricey as the new Supra.

Don't expect it to beat anything like a ZL1 1LE.
is faster
@@vernonprice5986 the ZL11LE will get 800 hp LT5 2021

Great Time..But where is The Viper ACR Time?
www.caranddriver.com/features/a23319884/lightning-lap-times-historical-data/
It's 8 tenths of a second faster than the ZL1 1LE. Which is not really impressive considering this is a CAMARO. The Viper Acrylic's cost twice as much money and was a bespoke supercar. The Camaro is a CAMARO, with heated and cooled seats and sound deadening, lol
@@vernonprice5986 a win is a win and that Viper score was set back in 2015. No score last forever. Sure 2019 cars like the Porsche GT-2 RS and 2019 Corvette ZR1 will eventually pull a better score. ZR1 is also 140 grand. The Camaro is a great track car but not appealing to the American consumer and that's why GM will probably kill it off again.
The bottom line there is that this is a CAMARO that ran within one second of the Viper ACR's lap time. There's no way you can downplay that without making yourself look like a bitter Camaro hater. So take a chill pill and accept reality.
is dead😂😂😂
American engineering makes a joke out of the rest of the world. go ahead Germany beat this for $75,000
Anyone else notice he was in full auto mode rather than using the paddles? Kinda weird right?
This car and the Supra is very impressive. Best value!
How is the Supra impressive? It took 3 minutes 1.4 seconds to get around VIR. Check out this list of every lap time ever from Car and Drivers Lightning Lap tests done at VIR...
www.caranddriver.com/features/a23319884/lightning-lap-times-historical-data/
Notice how not impressive a 3 minute 1.4 second lap time is? Im not saying it's slow or anything. It certainly has some cars that we all used to think were impressive performers on track near it in the all time rankings (like the Porsche 997 911 GT3, 1st gen Ford GT, Corvette C6 Z06, 2006 Viper, etc...). However, the Shelby GT350R (priced similarly to the new Supra) did it in 2 minutes 51.8 seconds and my $40k out the door Camaro SS 1LE did it in 2 minutes 54.8 seconds.
By 2019 standards 3 minutes 1.4 seconds really isn't that great for a car a pricey as the new Supra.
we need ZL1 1LE Auto vs GT500 in Track spec
The new GT500 is going to get DESTROYED by the ZL1 1LE around roadcourses. The ZL1 1LE pulls 1.18 Gs on the skidpad, did Motortrend's figure 8 test in 23 seconds flat, and brakes 60-0 in 91 ft/70-0 in 141 ft. The roadcourse focused GT350R couldn't even come close to matching the ZL1 1LE's handling and braking performance. The 4200+ lb GT500 likely won't even come close to matching the GT350R's handling and braking performance. The huge/heavy Eaton R2650 blower and all the extra intercoolers, plumbing, and fluids are mostly responsible for the GT500's weight gain over the GT350. All that equipment is up front and will hurt weight distribution and negatively impact handling and braking performance. The GT500 is going to beat the ZL1 1LE in a staight line and that's about it.
GT500 is more straight line oriented rather than track focused. however I could see ford making an R version which can be more track oriented
@@oldblood_eyes Raúl no it's not. They specifically built this GT500 to be more track focused. Look at the big wing along with the front air lip/splitter on the front fenders. Even their promo videos show it on a track.
@@SteelTimeify pretty sure that's because of the carbon fiber TRACK package. gt500 is known to be for straight speed
The GT500 did a pre Lightning Lap test with 5 tractor trailer loads of cars and 19 staff. I was leaving VIR on 3/26/19 as they were arriving and spoke with one of the Ford engineers. All I can say is that the test must not have gone well since they didn’t let C&D have a car. What a joke! Poor Ford has all the time in the world to beat the ZLE on a road course or come out with something that could beat a Redeye or Demon on a drag strip and it looks like they’ll do neither. Their cocky brand manager saying multiple times that venom kills demons. Yeah right! Also the C8 gets revealed and takes most of the attention away from the GT500 and don’t forget the Ford GT got its own little Lightning Lap only to be embarrassed a short time later by the ZR1.
The ZL1 is a beast it might be the beat gt500 hopefully Ford answer
The track package plus its 7 speed dual clutch transmission will be lethal.

@@georgegiannopouloscamarozl1028 you do know the 2020 shelby GT500 runs 10.6s and 10.7s in a quarter mile while the ZL1 runs 11.4s and 11.5s?Also, it was done on bad conditions as well. The 0-60 is 3.3 which is quicker than the ZL1s 3.5 0-60 time. The 2020 shelby GT500 is very well planted into the ground.
@@georgegiannopouloscamarozl1028 also, I love both but one is obviously much quicker. Both look very nice!! Ford might as well cancel the gt500
gt500 is way to heavy and cost to much $$$ and plus markup
The Mustang is too heavy, that’s for sure!
Everyone is underestimating the 2020 shelby GT500. Remember, the base model weighs 4225+lbs not the track package. The track package will be much lighter, have stickier tires, big wing. Also, the 2020 shelby has a dual clutch transmission which will make a big difference on the track in the track handling package.
@@jordankhaght5544 my mistake. My keyboard sucks. I meant 4,225lbs for the base model.
The GT500 has a dual clutch transmission which is a game changer. It does 10.6s in the quarter mile at 133mph. The DCT makes a huge difference on the track.
