I think a big part of it is how jaded everyone has become. What seemed okay then for a certain genre seems terrible now, and what seemed terrible then in retrospect seems like "the good old days before everything became stale garbage"

Midsommar is very much the type of of movie where you either love it or hate it, with there being pretty much zero in-between. (I'm in the camp that hates it, I don't know how people find anything enjoyable about that movie, although I do think the score Charlie gave was still maybe a couple points too low).

Even in his playthrough of the game, He basically just sided with chat and spoke negatively about everything he encountered. I appreciate him being honest here and admitting he was just really upset beforehand at the direction it went, 55% was definitely too low of a score IMO, Glad to see him acknowledge that as well. To me, Even if the story is lacking, It's downright idiotic to deny the game absolutely excels at almost everything else, From audio design, Visual design, Visceral gameplay, Acting performances, Set pieces, And the overall bleak and moody atmosphere, Its attention to detail is second to none.
The criticism of the really odd pacing of the story is definitely valid, I personally don’t really mind since it’s sorta the point, but it’s perfectly understandable if you didn’t enjoy how the story was structured. Too bad 90% of the hate the game got was because people don’t like women, trans people, and gay people. either that or they complained that joel died in a sad way, even though that was the point, cuz it’s a story about revenge after all. It boggles my mind how people thought Joel was a moral and just individual.

Look like you said I’m sure the film is fine if you switch your brain off and sit there braindead for the next 2-3 hours or are a very young child yourself…. But if your above like teenage age I’d say this movie sucks ass. It’s a textbook example of what can happen when a director gets full freedom control and never gets reigned in on his ideas. You get screaming goats and a boring ass movie.

It's one of those things where it's either a 0 out of 10 or a 10 out of 10. Kinda like Last of Us 2. Both for me are a 0 out of 10. Vanity projects which are huge piles of shi.
Midsommar is very much the type of of movie where you either love it or hate it, with there being pretty much zero in-between. (I'm in the camp that hates it, I don't know how people find anything enjoyable about that movie, although I do think the score Charlie gave was still maybe a couple points too low).

Glad to see Tlou2 get some love. The story ruffled a LOT of feathers, but discrediting the whole game based on its pacing and some story choices was super harsh, glad to see him acknowledge that.
ALOT of folk def went extra hard on TLOU2 when it dropped, To this day I have never seen a more toxic circle jerk of hate, Once the leaks happened, People declared the game trash. Then reviews dropped unanimously calling the game a masterpiece, People said reviewers were paid off and that the game was actually trash. Then the game released and to absolutely no surprise, People said "Game is awful lol" And ran with it, Attacking anyone who said otherwise. Charlie in his review was clearly in his feelings as well, Summing the game up to "Revenge = Bad" Saying a 5 yr old could write a better story, Even saying that the gameplay was somewhat mediocre and boring as well. Even in his playthrough of the game, He basically just sided with chat and spoke negatively about everything he encountered. I appreciate him being honest here and admitting he was just really upset beforehand at the direction it went, 55% was definitely too low of a score IMO, Glad to see him acknowledge that as well. To me, Even if the story is lacking, It's downright idiotic to deny the game absolutely excels at almost everything else, From audio design, Visual design, Visceral gameplay, Acting performances, Set pieces, And the overall bleak and moody atmosphere, Its attention to detail is second to none.
The criticism of the really odd pacing of the story is definitely valid, I personally don’t really mind since it’s sorta the point, but it’s perfectly understandable if you didn’t enjoy how the story was structured. Too bad 90% of the hate the game got was because people don’t like women, trans people, and gay people. either that or they complained that joel died in a sad way, even though that was the point, cuz it’s a story about revenge after all. It boggles my mind how people thought Joel was a moral and just individual.
The Last Jedi is one of those movies where when you first watch it, you think yiu like it at first. But the longer you think about it, and you watch it again, you start hating it.
Really? For me it's the opposite. When I first watched it, there were plenty of parts I loved about it, but others that bothered me. Yet as I watched it more, I didn't mind the issues as much because the good far outweighs the bad.
I only like it because of Mark Hamil...the new trilogy in general is mostly forgettable aside from that.
