      You can ride a road bike in 1st person in GTA 5 and the physics/bike handling controls are very detailed you can use the drops and get aero etc, There is even a fixed gear bike with no brakes in singleplayer you can get it from the trevor rampage mission, i enjoy riding around online swerving through traffic towards my destination its very easy to navigate through traffic with the narrow drop bars and in some situations its even faster than using a car to get to the waypoint and the alleyways all of a sudden become very useful, You can even go really fast downhill i had somebody follow me in a car online to check my speed and they said i got to 80mph on the downhill from the observatory into sandy shores, you can go fast enough to overtake the traffic haha

  • @domsjuk
    @domsjuk 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1313

    I'm used to riding in Germany where everyone else in traffic seeing this would go completely ballistic. I don't know the feeling of those roads, but I'd be scared to keep this pace not even because of the cars but because of pedestrians walking right in front of you. No fucken level of bike handling skills and traffic awareness gets you out of that. Great flow, I can relate to that, but it's bloody irresponsible nonetheless.

      Yeh, this video is a panic attack for Germans, and for that matter anyone with more than 5 folders for their emails. On the other hand, for Indians, who live with chaos everyday, this is relatable excellence.

    • @domsjuk
      @domsjuk 2 ปีที่แล้ว +63

      @@subinct Sure, I can "relate" to that well enough, just as I explained. My point is not about people being freaked out by it, that is just the context. The point is whether German or American or Indian, you're not in control of other people's stupidity or carelessness in the end, and there are situations where no human degree of awareness, experience or control can make a signifikant differend

    I watched this a couple years ago and around that time got into riding too. Years later, coming back to this video, I have a new found appreciation for the dedication it takes to do something like this. Having strong legs and good bike handling skills is just a prerequisite to this stuff. Learning the traffic patterns and persevering through all the fuck ups that happen in traffic, both on your end and others, and keeping your cool the whole time is the real challenge. Injuries, shitty drivers, cold rainy weather, street grime, angry pedestrians, all of these things must be surmounted in order to achieve and experience something like this. My hat's off to you guys!

    • @AnArtisticToad
      @AnArtisticToad 3 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Yeah, she takes more risks weaving through traffic, getting close to car doors, and not respecting turn signals than I would've when I did delivery/courier stuff. This is why urban cyclists get trash talked so much. But it takes years of experience with reading traffic, lights, people, having high fitness, and knowing your limits to be able to do this sort of thing with enough awareness to be safe. It's a beautiful feeling when you've got it down though.

    Former Winnipeg bike messenger. I know HOW to do what you're doing, and how FUN it is, and how misunderstood by those who don't know how, but I am not at your skill level. What beautiful moves and great camera work too. To those who complain, this is dense metropolitan traffic. Bicycles can do things, when controlled, that nothing else can. This rider will avoid you, and you don't have to worry, and is 100 times more aware of what's going on in traffic than the average motorist. This is expert control of a skinny non-polluting vehicle, and when a third of you motorists learn how to signal, we can talk about who's the problem.

You learn to 'read' the traffic ahead, almost as if you can see what is going to happen 15 seconds into the future. That being said, I wouldn't ride a fixie without brakes in this kind of environment. You can't stop on a dime! Taking risks is part of the job, but this guy is insane.
