    I loved watching both live, but the second attempt felt so much nicer to watch especially how self funded, and much more solo effort it felt. All left out there and an awesome attempt. Great reminder of 2 awesome hour record attempts

    This is so interesting, always fun to know how things have changed since a few years ago. Nice!

    Maybe you find this new position slower at first, but if you work your way as you say by working on your nexk and shoulders muscles and by practicing this new position, thats where you get the gains. Great videos, keep it up! I'm looking forward to see the results of the helmet variety you brought to the wind tunnel test.

    As a Simmons user myself, I have nothing but good things to say about Dave's work. Such passion and attention to detail.

      They look like they solve a big problem with TT saddles; I'd love to try one!

      In the clips from both of these attempts, it looks like Alex is having to shift back in the saddle a lot

    I had to leave to get married when you had 15 mins to go in 2015. I was gutted to not be able to watch the whole of it.

      Those hour record attempts, you never know how long they are going to take eh?!

      @@MrHcharles nobody should schedule their hour attempts while someone may be getting married

      Mate you could have finished watching it and gone later, or put the wedding off to another day. Priorities.

    Brilliant Tech Talk 😍 will there be a talk about the skin suits and helmets of then v now? Also be interested on your thoughts of the hr record now….. would the New canyon track bike take it with the right man on board??

    Hi Alex, loving your videos, particularly where you assess various ways to gain speed.
    Can you recall your tire pressures for the hour record attempts and when you TT on the road, for example your 10 milers, what kind of PSI do you run there? Thanks

    Pretty impressive Alex finished 3rd with not much training. What happened to being 3 seconds off third (fourth) in post finish line shake down with Dad, did someone get disqualified or was that a miscommunication?

    Alex, from a design perspective, do you prefer the rear end design of the shiv with the half way cut out of the seat tube or the hanzo seatube which hugs the rear wheel tightly?
    I understand testing this design difference in insolation is practically impossible to test but curious to hear your preference on first principled basis.
    Cheers mate, from Aus

      If there’s no difference in aero, I’d take the extra room to remove headaches around tyre size, and I guess it makes it easier to make the bike lighter when there’s simply less of it. But if something is faster then it’s faster. I’d also love to see into around tyre frame aero if you run it close. Spin a wheel up and hold your hand near it, there’s a lot going on there.

    Buz there is a company called Izumi that makes track chains.

    What did you weigh between the two attempts? You look leaner in 2015.

    • @AlexDowsettOfficial
      @AlexDowsettOfficial  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I was 79kg in 2015, 75kg in 2021. A big contributing load to the 2021 was stress in financing and organising the attempt, I struggled to put weight on as a result, quite the opposite issue in 2015...

    • @mark13williams13
      @mark13williams13 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AlexDowsettOfficial blimey, I can’t believe you were 4 kilos heavier in the first attempt!

    • @jeskli11
      @jeskli11 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AlexDowsettOfficialDo you think you might have actually been faster on the second attempt had you been a touch heavier?

    • @AlexDowsettOfficial
      @AlexDowsettOfficial  ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe, I fuelled better for the 2nd than the first for sure. A lot of the weight gain for attempt 1 was muscle from a lot of track time, I did significantly less for the 2nd attempt. There’s an argument over extra muscle mass impacting cda there that would be very difficult to quantify over 2 different time periods

    so no homologation for hour record frames.

    • @AlexDowsettOfficial
      @AlexDowsettOfficial  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      2 or 3 of each were made, and both based on existing TT frames, the Factor Hanzo and Canyon Speedmax
