I’m pretty sure you could do more than that if you pay attention to your speed
So what, you are out on the bike. In my book that is great.
3 hours at 33 mph is only 99 miles.
these people really are superhuman !
you just need a huge tailwind
That was crazy. What a ride. Thanks for the video. Take care and stay safe, Al
what an amazing feat, especially considering that he did this without disc brakes!
How can disc help him ?
@@Lord_Alhaitham that was a sarcastic statement regarding the disc brakes. Manufacturers and these sponsored TH-cam channels keep pushing MTB brakes on road bikes just to make more money. To me this is a heavier and more complicated tech that is not needed on road bikes.
@@hansschotterradler3772 yeah same thoughts regarding the brakes , i also think that there's no use of disc brakes on a road bike 😀
@@Lord_Alhaitham There's enough crap on the roads where I live that I'd much prefer disc brakes on my road bike to the horrible noise of dirty pads gouging chunks out of my rims. Wouldn't say no to brakes that work fully in the wet, either, though I agree that rim brakes work decently enough even when wet.
Well done , massive respect young man, had a giant trinity , brilliant piece of kit
I thought I did good wow I did 110 miles in 6 hours. What a incredible men!!
Amazing feat, chapeu Jonathan! It just goes to show that an incredible challenge is never a match to human willpower, sound planning and consistent practice.
I did a 100 in 2hrs 52 minutes when I was on a team back in 87. In a paceline of course, wiped me out. No way I could do that solo.
That’s still insane, must’ve been a massive tailwind as well
@@elijahkwon422 no tailwind, loop course with hills and about a hundred degrees, about a mile high altitude. I was doing about 400 a week at the time.
@@elijahkwon422 Tailwinds only really effective when solo, otherwise only the person at the back is feeling the benefits and not not so much the person doing the pulling at the front. Would still be better than a headwind.
Incredible! Knowing how hard it is to keep that kind of average speed on a bike myself, I am very impressed!
World record smashed by a regular man... That dude was far from regular when it comes to cycling. Great effort
280 watts for 3 hours in an aero position is so beyond average lol
@@supernoodles908 go on and get that record Hero
Jonathan Shubert should attempt the hour record on the velodrome. That would be awesome to see!
Can’t even avg 33mph for a minute let alone 3 hrs
I hit 33 for about 45 seconds whilst being chased by a dog..
@@renegadetenor gotta start somewhere right?
can't even reach 33 mph
you can't because you don't have a 30mph tailwind....
Sills71 oh come on it can't just be the tailwind. that guy was so fast
Man that was superhero stuff, well done Jonathan Shubert, and great video coverage from GCN as always
Glad Hank didn't jinx the WR attempt this time 🙃👍🏻
Truly inspiring! Thanks Hank and the team 👍🏻
English car with MPH as the big number? I expected Kilometers to be the big number and miles to be the small number.
Congrats even a chain drop wasn't gonna stop him from breaking the 3 hour mark
The English use miles for speed/distance.
@@jamiegracie2458 I didnt know that thanks
Was the same in Australia for a while in the first few decades post metric change over. Big miles with small k's, then it was big k's and small miles, now just k's
The dude is a straight up BEAST! Unbelievable!
Today I did 100km in 3.5 hrs with 28.4km/h avg speed and i was so happy.....
Which bike do you have?
Try in a big tailwind. A 30 mph tailwing changes a lot your speed.
Wicked! To think that I already feel fast when hitting 25 kph on flats, this was insane! Hat's off, Jonathan!
He's literally flying
Amazing job! I can't help but think there's a better course to do this on.
Theres not really any 150+ mile stretches of flat empty road in England like there is in the states.
I bet He could shave off a couple minutes if he didnt ride in traffic, but I dont think he could justify the travel costs for just a WR attempt.
they said they spent ages planning the route .. so no i don't think there was a better course
Great video. Well done Jonathan. Well presented, too, by Hank.
I read 100km in three hours in my minds An thought that's a breeze 🤣🤣🤣
Total Congratulations Jonathan on an awesome ride, you have certainly set a high standard for any future attempts at this distance. Cheers John NZ.
Any record on HEADWIND TT for 100 miles?
*don’t sign me in
Not really 100 miles but in the netherlands we have the national championships headwind tt on city bikes (no gears on those).
th-cam.com/video/VMinwf-kRlA/w-d-xo.html a bit less then 100 mile, but serves the purpose...
Outstanding - I did the Dunwich Dynamo (London to Suffolk, just over 100 miles) with a tail breeze in July in 6 hours 24 and was pretty happy with that! Well done and long may it stand
